I have been coming here for years, Houston is my guardian angel. The amount of times I destroy my phone and he saves my ass. The shop is super reasonably priced, excellent customer service. I broke my phone 3x in the same week because i'm a tard, I dropped it, washed it, and god knows what else. And he saved me everytime. BEWARE Came in because I had charging issues with my iPhone. Houston (the owner) then suggests a new charging port to fix the issue. Me trusting him, I approve the repair. I come back after a couple hours and he advises me the repair was complete and plugs the phone in to verify. Upon inspecting the phone and specifically the port I notice it looks old and used, like the original one. I also notice the two screws on the bottom side of the phone are untouched and have dirt/debris completely filling the Phillips screw head. Had he taken these screws out to complete the repair it would have been evident. Though it wasn't. I bring it to his attention and he claims he replaced the port. I quickly catch on to the fact that my charging port was simply filled with debris likely lint. Which caused the charging issues in the first place. Houston cleaned the port out and did not replace anything but tried to sell that service to me not thinking I would catch on. Even after pointing this out to him he states that he replaced the port with a used port from a donor phone. Which to his defense was why the port still looked used. I question why he would even put in a used port when I paid to have a new one put in to his recommendation. I ask him to show me the old port that was removed from my phone and he spends the next 5 min in the back room "looking" for it but isn't able to, probably because it wasn't never replaced. Go figure. At this point it's pretty obvious that he's caught red handed and he knows it but doesn't own up to it. Very shady business. read more

If I could give less than a star, I would. I took my iPhone 13 mini in to have the back glass repaired. The phone was working fine without issue for two weeks before I decided to have the back glass repaired. It was a new in box, factory sealed phone that I received late February 2025/early March 2025. I took it in for repair in late June 2025. When the phone was handed back to me, it was warm but I had assumed it was from heat being used for the glue. I walked to my vehicle where I plugged it in as I got it back at a 1% charge. Within about 10 minutes, I had made it to my next destination and went to pull the phone off the charger. It was too hot for me to hold and had only charged to less than 10% and then shut down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Houston and asked how long the phone is going to be hot for before I can charge it. They told me to let it cool completely and try again... I did and the same thing happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Days later, when they were open again, I took it back in and they said they would look into it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They, at one point said the issue coincided with it being dropped. I told them the phone had never been dropped, at least not by me. They sent it to a place in Vegas to diagnose the problem because they were unable to. It was sent back to them about two weeks later and allegedly, Houston found it was still having issues so it was sent back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At least that was what they told me when I called to check in for an update since they failed to keep me informed on the status.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My wife and I were always the ones going in or calling in for the status.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When they finally did get the phone back, it was determined that the IC and capacitors had failed and the place in Vegas didn't THINK Houston's repair caused them to fail and that the heat couldn't cause it to fail because of protective barriers. From my research and a conversation with an Apple repair tech, I'm being told that it IS possible for laser tech to damage the IC and capacitors to fail due to heat. Houston thought it was"fair" that I pay half the repair since it was thought that their back glass repair didn't cause the issue... which we paid. When I got the phone back, I got it back with the back glass damaged, both cracked and scraped from the inside of the glass as well as the sim tray was missing. I told them I'd like a refund for the back glass since I got it back damaged and my sim tray back and they said the most they could do for me was repair it and order me a new sim tray. I told him I was not comfortable with them touching the phone again. My phone also popped up with a message that there was a new back camera installed which he didn't not provide info on it but offered to "take a look". He told me that since he was out money from paying half the repair, he wasn't going to refund me for the back glass. He would only repair it. I din't want to risk more issues arising by having them make the same repair that caused my IC and capacitors to fail in the first place. The phone also did something weird during charging; it charged to 30% then started to go down. It took upwards of of 6 hours, but it finally charged to 100%. I'm still in the process of checking everything to make sure it all works, but I'm sure that even if there is anything else that isn't working, they won't take responsibility for it. They claimed everything works but didn't manage to catch the apparent camera install that I'm honestly not comfortable with hitting the 'finish repair' button. Seems easy enough but at this point I have no idea what was done internally to this phone. You can see where they removed the screen as the edges are scratched up. Nothing a case can't cover, but I'm not confident in the internal workings of it at this point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mind you, their customer service is very lacking. There was ONE guy I personally spoke with that was professional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Other than that you have people talking with food in their mouth, rolling their eyes when you ask a question and testing and making calls away from the customer rather than allowing the customer to see or hear what's being done with their device.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

Let me start by saying Houston does fine work - although I dropped off a laptop there months ago to have the hard drive recovered and never heard back after 2 calls (80% of the data was backed up anyway so I just quit). But a really nice young guy replaced the screen on my iPhone 13 for $120 - totally fair. Now parts are let's say $30 (I looked it up could be less in bulk) - I don't think this very helpful, nice young man was making $40 an hour - which by all he way he deserves - but we are at $50 for time and labor - $120 doesn't offend me. WHAT DOES OFFEND ME is the request for a tip - starting suggested at 15% - and I am sorry to say I paid because I'm looking at this sweet kid who did the job and don't want to let him down - it's like buying Girl Scout cookies - you don't really want them but you can't say no. Houston - pay your people a decent wage and stop having your employees panhandle for tips when they are fine and capable and due a proper wage. read more

My old phone is sitting in a deep, watery grave on the bottom of Lake Tahoe after an unfortunate and easily preventable incident, and my replacement iPhone was gifted to me with a cracked screen and questionable battery. I stopped by Houston after checking prices around town, paired with the realization that this location was in close proximity to my workplace. I checked in on Yelp to unlock a 10% off repair offer and waited momentarily to be helped by a young gal. In that time, I was able to assess that Houston We Have a Problem is a bird-friendly establishment. One patron waiting ahead of me was holding a pigeon in her arms as she made a phone call. I could tell she was not the same unknowingly kind-hearted vagrant from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, because of the lack of bird feces on her clothing. I'm sure that like the woman who befriended a young boy being hunted by two criminals in an unfamiliar city, her intentions were pure. The pigeon received several kisses to the head, and an unyielding grip was administered during any futile exertions on the bird's behalf to desert. I regrettably caught his/her vacuous stare as it was cradled gently yet firmly into the woman's chest. "Help me," it seemed to ask without words. One cannot replace the battery without replacing the screen, so I replaced both. The battery cost somewhere around $35 to replace, and the screen was $68. The total cost was $101 with the 10% off Yelp discount, and the whole process took 20 minutes. I will definitely come back here if I drown or otherwise maim this phone. He was quick and the pricing was reasonable but the screen is not OEM, my phone constantly tells me it's not authentic, and the screen brightness constantly adjusts itself from the darkest to brightest settings without me doing anything. Well, there's a first time for everything. I demolished my iPhone screen this weekend, and first thing this morning I started searching for a fix. I logged on to the Apple website, and found that it would cost $129 to have my screen fixed (I do not have Apple Care). However, the first available appointment at the Genius Bar was three days away, and they would need to send my phone away for 3-5 business days. Who has time for that?? Instead, I searched on Yelp and found Houston We Have a Problem. They were open at 9am, no appointment needed, and my phone was fixed in about 15 minutes, along with the addition of a tempered glass screen cover, which is supposed to help prevent future cracks. The screen fix cost $150, and the tempered glass screen protector was $24 with the Yelp check-in 25% off coupon. Houston is polite and friendly, making small talk while working away on my phone. He told me he has been fixing iPhones since he was in high school. While I paid $20 more than the Apple website quoted, the time savings makes it SO WORTH IT! Plus, I'm happy to support a local business owned by such a nice young man. Don't waste your time with the Genius Bar. Houston will take care of it! (Since technically he wasn't open just yet) My phone screen wasn't broken, so I didn't need an in depth repair. All I saw Houston for was the application of a tempered glass screen. I left Houston with my iphone 6 to fix, which he did while I waited. My mistake was leaving my iphone 6 plus to fix overnight. I actually left it over two days. I received the phone back with scratches and a missing on/off button that is on the side. So he either scratched up my phone or stole my original screen and gave me a crappy one. He also stole my button. The phone was deemed unusable, but that is no reason to steal anything from me ! I no longer trust Houston with my products especially if I have to walk away.
