Beware - regardless of presentation, this is not a trustworthy owner or company…read more I hired John to pave my driveway and was quoted on 3.5 inches of blacktop, single layer over dirt. Day of work he upsold me on 3/8 vs 1/2 for another $300+ and I've since learned that it's the same cost per ton so that was a rip off. My driveway ended up collapsing due to erosion from a failed culvert (news to me) but have since learned it's standard practice to not pave over old metal culverts without confirming they have integrity. The collapse led to an impassable driveway and cost $4k+ and required cutting through the new driveway. John offered to patch the cut and sealcoat as resolution. He did the patch (also subpar work and used 1/2 inch creating another mis-match) but has since disappeared. No response to calls or text. I brought in a different company to evaluate and found out he ran the driveway thin for at least the whole 2nd half. So between the missing product, negligence for not paving to industry standard, and then ghosting after it being revealed I simply don't trust the guy and would never hire him at any discount. He's extremely good at having answers to everything. Pay the extra $500 and get the job done right.

Although I'm a business owner now, I'm still a consumer too. I remember needing to call a company to fix the washer machine. The bill I got didn't match the satisfaction of the completion of the job. It happens and unfortunately - in my opinion - occurs frequently. As many Americans experience, too often do we pay more than what the final product was worth. That being said, the good companies are out there. I know, because I have worked for some great people. I didn’t come from money or a business background - I came from labor. I started in a Butcher's Shop the week of my 13th birthday. Over the years I worked in manufacturing, as a stone mason, driving 18 wheelers, arboriculture and tree climber, remote logging operations off the coast of Alaska, in local municipalities, mechanic, heavy equipment operator, I could go on. I’ve always believed that if you do the job right, encourage others to do their best, muster through the tough days, and treat people with respect, you’ll build something worth standing behind. I started stump grinding part-time while working a full-time job. Hustling on weekends, evenings, and early mornings before my full-time job, whatever it took. All while attempting to balance home life and the desire to create a better life through hard work and consistency.
