strawberry fields in a waffle cone
Jason M.

I was just about to finish my exploration of Tlaquepaque when I stumbled upon How Sweet It Is. Being a fan of ice cream, I thought this would be a great opportunity to try somewhere new and have a little treat, so I decided to check it out. HSII isn't a large space - you're almost immediately greeted by the front counter upon entry. The walls are lined with a decent selection of confections with more available to order. I wanted ice cream, and after looking at available flavors I went with strawberry fields in a waffle cone. It was fine - I didn't find the ice cream to be too special but they gave a lot. Did I think it was worth the almost $6 they charged? No. I also picked up a bag of nonpareils which were just average. Service was fine - they weren't overly friendly but also weren't rude like other reviews mentioned. Overall, I think this place takes advantage of its surroundings by delivering average goods at high prices. If you're caught up in the Sedona moment then you might be wooed, but How Sweet It Is is definitely not worth it.

Cute little shop with yummy looking treats, counter employee was not rude but not welcoming either. My partner had a shake I had a fruit smoothie (they were out of ingredients in my first two choices) no biggie. I ended up with passion fruit with banana. It was good, size wise I know it was made with care but $16 dollars for two average sized beverage treats........not sure I'd repeat the experience maybe stick to chocolate.

I've been multiple times. I think all it is great location, to be honest. The goodies were nothing special AND overpriced. But when you've been walking around under the sun and are craving for a treat, seeing this place open, you just might not be able to resist. Hahaha. I'm a sucker for that so I'll probably be back.

Cute ice cream shop in Tlaqpaque arts village in Sedona.. stopped by here a hot saturday afternoon and it was busy! I ordered the blueberry mixed berry ice cream and loved it but my friend ordered a chocolate chip ice cream and that was okay.. there is no space for indoor seating so feel free to grab your ice cream walk out and sit by the fountains.. A couple of other friends picked up other chocolate flavors and they were okay as well.. hit and miss I guess! Try it out!

Cute little shop to curb your sweet cravings.Got Dark honey comb chocolate, milk honey comb chocolate, homemade fudge chocolate walnut and a scoop of cone icecream. The shop tends to get really crowded.

Came here after eating at a restaurant nearby with friends. We each got a scoop of ice cream. It was pricey (close to $6 w/ tax), the flavors were limited, the ice cream tasted watery, and the cashier was super unfriendly. I wanted a cup for my ice cream and waffle cone so I wouldn't have to deal with it melting on me and she said that was an extra charge. Whaattt. Not worth! Even the other candy items are overpriced!

We stopped by to get ourselves some treats and drinks. It's somewhat overpriced. The guy behind the counter wasn't talkative or friendly. He made our drinks, 2 ciders and a couple of milk shakes. We got our drinks, paid over $30 for drinks and chocolates. If we thought about it ahead of time, we would've waited until we left the village to drive to another spot for some snacks. But we were hungry and this was the only place that wasn't a sit down restaurant.

This is a very cute but tiny candy store. But after walking around the Tlaquepaque Village my family and I stop in for some sweeeet snacking. We couldn't resist but ended up getting some Cookies and Creme Ice Cream. Nothing special about it. But the Coconut and Pineapple Ice Cream was so good. I'm not a fan of coconut flavor ice cream but I have to admit it blended in perfectly with the pineapple. I can't imagine this place to be so popular. So I think there candy bags sit on the shelves for awhile. Sometimes the way I check the freshness of candy and if it is worth buying is pinching the candy to see how soft it is. Needless to say, their licorice and sweet/sour strips were quite hard =/. There is a good selection of chocolates here though. So I definitely got my ice cream and chocolate fix!

We spent $60 on chocolates and licorice here and it was all terrible. Major letdown. Would definitely not recommend.

The fudge was not fresh. The owner wasn't all that nice and the place had a depressing vibe. I'm not a huge fan. Would not recommend.

Walked up and down Uptown Sedona before coming back, and decided on the Bacon Cheddar and White Cheddar Garlic Parmesan because yummmm!! When I went to pay, the guy at the register said since you're buying 2, you get a free bag of butter popcorn! Heyyyy, I'm all for free, so yes sir, thank you very much! At $6.95/bag, they are fairly priced. I like the variety of flavors but do wish there was more room to move inside. It's very cramped in here, but you just grab what you want, pay and leave. I also wish the popcorn was made fresh, but I know it's an entire production to do that with when you offer different flavors. They also sell other items like ice cream, drinks, and different flavors of salt water taffy. I'm a fan of taffy, but I skipped it this time around. The staff was friendly and the freebie was a pleasant surprise. If you're walking around Uptown Sedona and want a lighter snack, pop into Sedona's Popcorn Emporium and support this local small business. I'll have to make it a regular stop each time I'm in the area!

Service was amazing too - attentive, friendly & joyous. Menu is innovative and while we didn't vibe with the taste of every item we tried, we enjoyed how healthy and gut friendly the food was. They say all their food is prepared in-house and is never from a can. Their dessert selection is amazing (tried the freshly baked vegan, GF scone which was soooo yum). The chocolates were good too but a tad overpriced imho. And omg, the seating in this restaurant is something else... there's PLENTY of inside and outdoor seating, incl their magical garden area.

Given that the burrito has two ingredients as of yesterday (menu says it has salsa, but upon ordering you're offered an up sell to pay extra for salsa or avocado), I was disappointed it didn't err on the side of extra chickpea chorizo. It was however seasoned incredibly well, sweet potatoes included. If you want a more quiet patio experience, then I would opt for the dog-friendly patio in the front as opposed to the one through the restaurant toward the back. There wasn't anyone there when I came at open.
