I scheduled a pre-purchase HVAC inspection with Howard Air during a very tight inspection period for a home purchase. On Friday, the representative I spoke with told me to send over my escrow documents so they could get me scheduled. After sending everything requested, I received a call back at 1:53 PM confirming I was scheduled for Monday between noon and 6 PM. They even took my payment information. When I never received a confirmation, I called back today only to be told that I was "the last person she spoke with" and she forgot to actually put me on the schedule. Now they are saying they don't have a technician available today and "might" be able to come tomorrow. This is extremely frustrating because I specifically chose this company because they said they could accommodate my timeline during my 10-day inspection period. I no longer have flexibility to delay this inspection, and their failure to follow through could directly impact an important real estate transaction. Mistakes happen, but overpromising availability, taking payment information, and then failing to schedule the appointment is unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. read more

Howard Air recommended and sold my 88 year old mother new insulation for the attic of her one story home. Full removal and replacement of blown insulation. She was quoted BY square footage (which reflects Zillow square footage on their website.) Total price around $10,000 and was paid in full After job completion, I questioned the square footage they charged her for. Exactly 1/2 of her house is vaulted and not attic space. They charged her for all that square footage that they did not insulate.(based on Zillow's estimated home square footage.) The Howard Air representative that I met at the house, told me they quote their square footage from Zillow. That's ridiculous. In My , opinion, recommendation would be to physically measure square footage of any attic space you are having done. Know your square footage before they come over. I think they do it on purpose. But I am not sure. This is only my opinion. It was very very obvious to anyone that her attic space was not 1796ft.² Her attic space was 900 ft.² Ultimately, Howard Air made it right and refunded a bunch of money. My point is, in my opinion, make sure they give you the right square footage. DON'T LET THEM TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS. Godawful. I'm pretty sure this company is a scam or run by interns -- there is no way the folks here are competent and trained HVAC technicians. Both of our AC units went down within a week of one another and they cannot seem to procure a quote that indicates what is wrong, or how to fix it. I've been a Howard Air customer for around 10 years. Their service had been exceptional. Since their air conditioning service was great, I decided to try their plumbing service when a tenant called because they noticed water leaking near the water meter. The plumber made the repair and charged me 721.85 to complete the repair. A couple of weeks later, my tenant said there was water leaking near the meter. I called a plumber I had used in the past to see why it was still leaking. The plumber called and said the previous plumber hadn't done the repair correctly. The plumber gave me a bid that was 220.00 less than what I paid Howard Plumbing to fix the mistake. I gave them a one-star rating because I paid a professional plumbing company to do the job right. I paid them a premium because of the value I've come to expect from Howard Air. I called Jim, the plumbing supervisor at Howard Plumbing, and explained the problem. The company did refund the 721.85 I paid for the service. When Kevin Howard ran the company, they had an exceptional level of service. I found out he no longer runs the company, which tells me everything. I will never use Howard Plumbing again, and I'm going to find another company to service my air conditioning units in the future. read more

I had a very bad experience with Howard Air company. On 07/16/26 two guys from Howard Air (Luis Flores and the second guy) came to my house to perform a simple maintenance work, because I have a 2 years old A/C unit. But this maintenance work became a nightmare. They broke the part of the air handler and could not replace it, because they did not have a new one in their service truck. Also, after this so called maintenance, water started to drip from the secondary pipeline above the window, which I did not have from the date when I bought a house in 1999. So I was forced to ask for an additional help. In 2 hours Isaac Sackett - the senior tech from Howard Air came and replaced the broken part of the air handler. I never received from Howard Air an invoice dated 07/16/26 (with my initials), describing the work of the Howard Air's team on that day. Because the water was still dripping from the secondary pipeline, Isaac Sackett came again to my house on 07/20/26 to evaluate that issue. He said that the air handler unit must be "re-hung", and this work will fix the problem. Same day, on 07/20/26, I received from Howard Air by email the invoice containing my fake signature. It was not my signature, because I did not sign any Howard Air's documents on 07/20/26. Next day, on 07/21/26, I contacted the other A/C company, whose technician came to check the problem and after that informed me that the problem with water dripping from the secondary line relates to the cracked primary drain pan of the air handler. He patched the crack and removed from the attic 6 gallons of water damaging the attic and ceiling of the second floor. I asked Howard Air for the refund of $99. First time I sent a message directly to Isaac Sacket about the refund, but he ignored it. Second time I sent an e-mail to serviceteam@howardair.com, but they ignored it. Third time I sent a direct message to Howard Air at 602-953-2766, but they ignored it. My wife and I are senior citizens and we cannot spend money from our fixed budget for the BS work of Howard Air. read more

Howard Air used to be a fantastic company but a few years ago they were bought by Service Champs, who now will upsell and always find a reason for you to spend more money and at significant margins. They avoid answering questions about the cost of the job and dodge the topics. E.g., on their recommendation I added a start assist to my unit. It's a $30 part that takes 10 min to install and I was charged $600. Their own website says that you should never pay over $400 for this job. When I emailed/called asking why I was charged more I got 0 responses. However, I did get 3 calls a week, for 2 months for them to come back out and install "rat deter" which is essentially steel wool added around the outside of the unit so they can't get inside, and yes, the quote on this was $300. Howard air is essentially preying on the trust of the longtime customers who were with them since way before Service Champs stepped in. read more

Called out as a/c not working. This began over a month ago. They came out, assessed the situation... Cost to fix was $7400.00 but unit is 13 years old and recommended a new unit. Okay...so go for that and initially are turned down (with good credit.) Fine...so we go with the fix, not a new unit. Crickets...crickets... Suddenly, NO contact. Now we get a "second opinion" and guess what? You only got the fix half right. We have pictures and documents and, most importantly, that fix was... $2400.00!! Seems you need to train your techs better, or develope better better business practices. Not going to mention names here, but know you are talked about. read more

Howard Air used to be the best air-conditioning company I've ever dealt with. The maintenance people that came were excellent, and if there was any problem, it went right up the management line and it was fixed. Although I will say that the maintenance people are quite good, the company itself has dropped from a five to a two in my review. I just got a call today that my appointment tomorrow, which was booked out a few months ago, is unable to happen because they have too many repairs that they need to fix. Therefore, it's another few weeks before I will get my maintenance. I'm just lucky that my systems are running well. I'm sure that they knew earlier that they were going to be strapped for maintenance people to fix air-conditioning systems since it's been so hot. However, they tell me one day prior that they're not coming out. I find that very poor customer service. I have rescheduled and hopefully they will show up and do a good job. However, I'm at the point right now where I will probably start searching for another company that can give me the same high-quality Customer Service that Howard Air used to give. I contracted with Howard Air to clean my attic, remove and replace insulation and replace some duct work. Caden Barney was the technician who quoted the job and he was competent and professional. A day or two after the job was done, the workers gone and Howard Air was paid in full (about $10,000 for a hot and nasty job) I found that a large room in the house was not getting enough air and an adjacent room might be getting too much. I called Caden and he said a technician would come out, evaluate the problem and maybe put a baffle in the duct. Nobody called, nobody came. I called Caden two more times. Both times, he told me they were very busy doing installs, but would soon come and fix my problem. That was about a month ago and it's even hotter now. I think these folks do good work and their techs are clean cut, pleasant and competent, but I had a very frusterating and disappointing experience. read more

Howard Air installed my a/c's a while ago and since then I have had their techs do an annual inspection. For the last few years, when they inspect the units something needs to be replaced that costs $1-2k each time and this year they claimed the coil was leaking and the unit needed replacement for $5k. The tech was not professional and was evasive when I questioned what was wrong. So I got a second opinion from another local a/c company who said nothing was wrong and there was no leak. Howard Air was trying to scam me, and lost my business forever. Stay away from this untrustworthy company! read more

They are knowledgeable, pleasant to work with and are fair with their prices. One example of their good service is when I had a system breakdown during the summer months and had to order parts but installed a work around till the parts came in so would would have air. This was a nightmare split system AC install. The initial install took 15 hrs due to issues getting the new system in the attic space. Along the way there were multiple scratches on my staircase (could have been avoided if they would have been careful), multiple scratches on door going in to the install space (could have been avoided by removing the door), large amounts of insulation in duct system which then was sprayed out of every vent at 10 pm when the system was tested (could have been avoided by covering up duct in attic space). All of this led to me having to take off work multiple days for drywall/painting repair and professional duct cleaning service. This could have all been avoided if the install team would have been more conscientious of what they were doing. Getting Howard air to remedy all of these problems they caused was like pulling teeth. They made me feel as if I was being nit picky with the issues. Six weeks later things are finally fixed. I do not recommend Howard Air!!!!! read more

They do not stand by their product and/or service. Our contractor used Howard Air to install our AC in our casita. While having the AC serviced the tech advised it wasn't installed completely accurate as the drain line wasn't hooked up. Luckily we didn't have any issues. Because we didn't have issues and didn't discover for a few yrs Howard Air says it's not their problem. They overcharge for their products their work and their service and then they do not stand behind it. Wry disappointing and wouldn't recommend them at all. Terrible service! Our AC units are only 2 years old and one of them is completely broken. Mid July and August we have had NO AC for 3 weeks! They say they ordered a part but 2 weeks go by nothing. I have to call to check and come to find out "they ordered the wrong part." But of course they didn't call to tell us that, we had to call them. We have children and a dog and it's the middle of summer in Arizona, this is absolutely horrible customer service. And btw we still have no resolution. This is criminal. read more

I m livid...in the five years we faithfully had the 44 point performance check done on our Trane air conditioner...done 2 x a year and prepaid. Yesterday my appt was scheduled 7am-12pm ..5 hr window....he showed up at 1:15 pm. He went on th roof did his inspection..Told me everything checked out efficient...just the intake coils were alittle dusty.Gave me a quote of $265.00...see quote..he cleaned other parts..as courtesey he could have blown out the dust...he showed me photos and asked me if i had other questions. Told me my 2025 maintenance schedule is due. I told him I need to speak with billing. Went up to $114 x 2 from $99 x 2...he lingered and stalled..any more ??? He asked..I showed him to the door. Ten Minutes later I get a text from Howard Air..which was insulting...see screen shot of text...SINCE WHEN is a client expected to tip a technician..????? In the 5 years we had this performace done..we NEVER ever got communication like this.. Well...you can imagine what my response will be/is...Since I lost over 6 hours of MY time..I feel the coils could have been blown out while Daniel was here..complimentary...Expecting answers.!!! We've had a maintenance contract for our A/C with Howard Air for years. They are great to deal with on all levels - excellent service over the phone, easy to schedule appointments (even on Saturdays) and they really do prioritize getting us help ASAP when we have an emergency since we have a contract. When we do need repairs, their fees are reasonable, and they get the job done quickly. I highly recommend them! I'm at my wits end. They were wonderful when we first got our AC unit ten years ago. Always polite, helpful, did all the checkups. But after our most recent checkup we were told the circular fan blade in our ac was rusting. They had to order the part and they'd come back and replace it when it came it. That was at the beginning of june. In july they got the part, scheduled the install and I took a day off work to be here to deal with it. I asked for updates throuought the day and was strung along until they finally said at seven they wouldn't be there till the next day. And when he finally got here and got up to the roof and took the whole thing apart found the part was too small. No big deal, ac was still working, he put in an order for the right one and we were told it would be three to four weeks. Well Thursday, the A/C stopped working. Asked for an update let them know the AC was making horrible noises, texted again two hours later to show our house was now 82 degrees, and asked about temporaily cooling the house as the technician had mentioned. Was told someone would reach out, no one did, a nice neighbor gave us a portable unit that didn't work that well but was better than nothing. We contact them the next day asking again about relief and they finally told us they would have one that would fit our house size, and it would cool the entire house. Friday we found out the part was THREE MONTHS before we'd get that part ... when were they going to tell us this?! We expected it in maybe a week. Then we got an appointment for today betwene 12 and 5pm they rolled up around 7 pm after we were 'next in line' at 2pm and brought out the same tiny one we got from home depot on thursday that can barely keep a 10x9 room somewhat cool at night. It can't fit 2 adults and 2 dogs in there. How is this acceptable for three months? Do they want us to die in this house? Sit in front of a little ac unit the entire time we're home? The one they brought out tripped our breaker! We can't live like this! read more

We have a Trane heat pump. With the temps dipping below zero the unit was shutting down at night. I called Howard who installed our Ecobee "smart" thermostat. After explaining what was going on he told us to look for a low temp shut off in the menu settings. We changed it from 35 to 25. I'm betting it won't be cold in the morning. read more

I have such mixed feelings about this company. I have always really liked the technicians that come to my home, and I've found Howard Air to be a customer-centric company. I have spent quite a bit of $ with these guys over the years with the initial installation of my units and subsequent service. Their work has always been of high quality. In the past, I have referred them to friends and family. That said, I was very disappointed with my latest service experience with Howard Air. Following our annual maintenance visit, they recommend additional services on my two AC Units. They gave me a flat-fee pricing up front which I accepted. I was disappointed because I paid nearly $700 for a job where the technician was working on my units less than two hours (verified by my Nest cam) and the only materials/parts he used was a cleaning spray. Do the math - I paid around $350/hr for their services. I don't feel like this was a good value. I called Howard Air to voice my concern. They politely declined to do anything about it. The service manager explained to me that the price was fair, and added something to the effect of, "Win some, lose some" with respect to the job not taking very long. It is up to you to determine whether their prices are fair. I was left disappointed. This company was one of my favorites in the past. read more

Fortunately I do not have to leave a lot of reviews because of the quality service they give me. It all started with a new unit 8 years ago and with the summer and winter maintenance everything has gone very well until it didn't. Of course the hottest day of the year I went to bed air down to 67 ( I know ) when I woke up it was 80. Time to call Howard's they set me up an appointment 3-7 that night, at 6:55 text comes text be there in 5. Tech Micah shows up a very legit human being. He gets started with the estimate comes down and says I have good news and bad news. ( it's now 7:30 )Good news it still is cover by the warranty, bad news we might have to wait till Tuesday ( parts ) I started winding it's hot need air. He got on the phone with his manager they came up with a plan and it would take 2 21/2 hrs and he would start right away. We went and got him The Habit cheeseburger, onion rings. You have to feed the horse had a chance to talk to him about other topics that's where I realized that he was a quality person and he was only 20. I'm telling you this because it's not only that he gave me air that night and he could have said it had to wait because of the time of night he went the extra to get it done. Looks like to me Howard's takes pride in the type of techs they hire and train. I know I went on and on but they deserve it and Micah deserves a raise because you want techs like him representing you I will continue using Howard's and if possible Micah will be my guy. I have only seen Howard Air advertising on KTAR.com and saw their ad next to a comment by a KTAR regular who posted a racist message about "blacks are at it again..." then accusing a black man who was victimized by the police of simply looking for an excuse to sue so he could "spend their time at the KFC drive-thru. I am aware of how much time and money goes into this targeted advertising and I learned all I needed to about a company who wants to appeal to racists and advertises on platforms that broadcast hate speech. They may do excellent work but, as a property owner in this community, I think the values of a company who funds hate-filled message boards is a few-breaker for me. There are plenty of other HVAC businesses in the Valley who do not sponsor forums riddled with racism and hate speech. read more

Recently I replaced my two HVAC systems using Howard Air and Trane HVAC systems. We were happy with the bid we received for product and labor warranty and the installation went flawlessly. Pat and Andres arrived with a large team and within one day the old systems was taken out and the new systems were installed with great attention to detail and up to spec. Andres helped me set up my phone so that I can also monitor the systems remote. Everyone was professional and they kept our house clean while they were doing the big install.
