I've been a patient at Howard Family Dental in Rincon for years. Kristi, my hygienist, is fabulous! She is thorough, yet gentle. I always leave a cleaning feeling like my teeth are brand new--so perfect they feel like glass! I love that they don't try to up-sale you on anything and prefer to monitor things instead of instantly jumping to major repairs! I got Invisalign a few years ago. They did an amazing job, my teeth are absolutely perfect at the end and still are today! read more

LITERALLY THE WORST DENTIST OFFICE EVER. There should be an option for ZERO stars. We've had so many problems with this office over the years, but this last experience was the absolute worst and the reason we won't be back. My school-aged daughter has a small cavity that needs to be filled. We made the appointment for her to go in today to have it filled, as they told us to. She got to her 7 am appointment and is the first patient of the day so that she could still go to school after the appointment. I got a phone call from my daughter that they didn't schedule her for a filling. They scheduled her for an exam... even though the last appointment was the exam. So the lady comes on the phone and says, "Oh yeah, they billed it wrong, so we're just going to make sure she still has a cavity" (what??? cause maybe it just went away since the last visit?). I said, "Ma'am, the last visit you told me she had a cavity, so she's there to have it taken care of. Please bump the next patient back a little so that you can take care of my daughter's filling. She said, "No, we can't. His schedule is way too full today. We don't have time to fix it today. She'll need to reschedule." No apology. No nothing. So now we're heading back to our old dentist an hour away...because driving an hour to a reputable dentist ABSOLUTELY beats driving five minutes to this money-grab office. read more

I needed a tooth pulled, they charged me $135 and did not pull my tooth. I went to Aspen dental, they pulled the tooth for $130 and gave me free exam. I asked them to adjust the bill since they did not do what I came for and they refused. Ihate businesses that take advantage of people. I do not recommend them. read more

My son went to a appointment that they told me would be covered 100 percent by his insurance. They quoted him $2,500 to fix his front tooth and it had to be paid in full before they would do any work on it and the next appointment date was a few months away. He left a deposit toward future work of $150. I called them a week later and told them he was leaving the area and he would like the money refunded to him. That was March 3rd. The check never came and I called to check on it and they said give it a month. After 5 weeks I called again and was told they would call back by the end of the day and they never did. I've made several attempts to find out if the check was mailed and have gotten excuse after excuse then they said that a refund of $90 was mailed on April 6th. They charged him $60 for the initial visit that was supposed to be covered 100 percent! Well it's April 20th and still no check! Don't be fooled by the friendliness at first because you will be overcharged and don't leave a deposit because you won't get it back! read more

I honestly can't even provide a rating for how my dental experience was here because of how poor my experience was before I even made it to my appointment. I just recently moved to Georgia and needed to establish care with a new dentist. I saw all the great reviews here and decided to give it a chance. On 6/27/2024 I booked a new patient appointment for 7/9/2024. Upon completion of booking my appointment, I received a confirmation text as well as a confirmation email letting me know my appointment was scheduled. I also received a request on their website to fill out my new patient forms with all of my information, and so I completed all of the paperwork that day as well. On 7/1/2024 I received a phone call from them and they left a voicemail letting me know my appointment was cancelled. This morning (7/8/24), I received a phone call from Jessica at the front desk asking me if I was available for a cleaning tomorrow (7/9, the date of my original appointment), at 9:30, which was an hour before my original appointment time. When I asked her on the phone how they could see me 7/9 if my 7/9 appointment was cancelled (I figured when they cancelled, since they didn't leave a reason, perhaps the dentist needed the day off or something). Jessica then proceeded to let me know they cancelled my appointment because I never confirmed. As you can see from the photos, I never got a notification to cancel. I only received messages confirming my appointment before the voicemail on 7/1 cancelling. This was extremely confusing to me since I didn't even have the opportunity to confirm, I booked the appointment, I provided my insurance information, and I completed my paperwork, so I asked to speak with the business manager, and was informed by Jessica that the business manager just started today (7/8), that she was in training, and that I could not speak with her. When I asked to speak with a supervisor instead, she told me the new business manager was the only management and essentially that because she just started today, she couldn't really help me but I could call back at lunch and try to speak with her. Jessica was extremely rude on the phone and did absolutely nothing to try to answer my questions or explain anything to me. Needless to say, I did not book a new appointment and will be finding a new dentist, and I highly recommend you look elsewhere for a dentist if you like kind, honest staff that treat you like a person. read more

I have to come here and say i adore this dentist! I moved here last year and had to fond a new dentist for myself and my 3 kids. After calling around this was the only palce that took my incurance and could get me in sooner then 6 months away. I was a bit skeptical from some of the reviews BUT they have been nothing short of amazing! The ladys at the frount desk are full of smiles and greet you as u come in and my dental hygenist happens to have my same name haha but she is the sweeset lady. The dentist herself is also awsome and did great exsplaning eveything i did not understand . I would give this practice a million stars if i could. And thats saying a lot of i normaly hate dentist. I've been going here for years and never really had any issues except for the dentist being short and not personable. A month ago, I was having pain and they said they couldn't get me for over a week. That weekend I had to go get a root canal at an out of network dentist because I was in so much pain. Now I call because one of my crowns fell out and keeps falling out when I brush my teeth and stuff. They said I had to wait a week! Yet, you make commercials saying you have appointments available. The only good thing I can say is the dentist hygienist have always been nice. read more

My teenage children went in for routine work about 4 wks ago (July 2019). The hygienist working on my daughter accidentally splashed the sealant on her cheek. Because she didn't wipe it off, the acid in the sealant burnt her cheek in 2 places. The reason I am so dissatisfied is that the hygienist tried to tell me that the burn was a reaction to the procedure. After looking at the "reaction " I quickly realized that it was in fact 2 small burns. A layer of her skin was missing in 2 spots. In any industry/ business, if you make a mistake, you own up to it and don't try to brush it off by lying to your customer, more so within the healthcare industry. After the incident, the office said they would call to check on her. They never did. No apology was offered! When I asked about any sort of compensation , they offered me a $100.00! The way they handled this situation is totally unprofessional. Extremely disappointed, especially considering they are supposed to be professionals. read more

This office is all about the money, nothing about the care. It's funny how I can go in one day and get the exact same quote that my child got 2 weeks before and they're asking $200.00 more for the same thing. Then when they get confronted they blame the wizard in the billing room. Then a friend of mine goes in to get their teeth cleaned and some recycled doctor comes in and tells them they won't clean their teeth until they get thousands of dollars worth of teeth pulling done. Wisdom teeth mind you. So you can't clean the rest of the teeth??? I guess I can't wash my car until I have all 4 brand new tires put on it. Then you tell this person they might have an infection but you still won't help until they " take out a loan" and get their wisdom teeth removed. A qualified dentist knows how sick people can get from an infection. It's a sad day when the help refuses to help because it's not what they want to deal with. read more

I was a patient there for around 2 years. 2 weeks ago I went there for my 6 month check-up and cleaning. After x Ray's I was now ready for the cleaning. All of a sudden now I need deep cleaning at cost of $335 plus will need implants and a mouth guard. It seems that the old dentist left and now the new dentist wants to make up for all of the money that they list from the old dentist. They refused to do the cleaning unless I did the deep cleaning. I received a letter from the dentist telling me that they will no longer continue serving me. I would never go back there or recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist.They are money hungry read more

Although the staff is great, I have personal qualms with how their treatment plans are assessed and created. I had previously gone to 1 dental practice my whole life and although I did have prior fillings that have been in place for a large number of years, I never had an issue with them. When I transferred to Howard, as soon as they took scans of my teeth and fillings it was determined that all of my fillings needed to be replaced. My gut told me this was inaccurate and that not all of my fillings needed to be replaced. They should only be replaced if causing an issue or if there is break down. Needless to say, they replaced about 5 fillings, causing more issues with my teeth and now I am going to another dentist. Who in their professional opinion, the fillings I didn't have replaced and were informed I needed them replaced at Howard, don't actually need to be replaced and the areas on my teeth they told me I'd need new fillings were not even a cause for concern. I am weary of their dental practices as well as overcharging for unnecessary work.  Not to mention that their process of submitting claims to insurance was incorrect 90% of the time and I had waited 6 months to have my next dental cleaning in which they informed me I owed them money and I refused to pay because they hadn't submitted the claim through my insurance properly and low and behold, I had already overpaid. They are now sending me a refund for my over payment and I requested my file to be transferred to another dental practice.  Nice staff but beware of their financial practices and recommendation for work not required. read more

WORST DENTIST POSSIBLE!!! USELESS AS ANYTHING!!!! THEIR "CALL CENTER" SCREWED UP MY APPOINTMENT REQUEST AND THE OFFICE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP!!! Apparently, even though you call the local office number, you request an appointment through a call center. No way of knowing that. I told the moron who took my call that I needed a crown put on my tooth AND a cleaning. Waited over a month for this appointment. No one called to confirm anything, just sent the confirmation text. Get to the appointment and the receptionist gives me attitude because I hadn't completely my new patient forms that NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT. Complete my paperwork and go into the office, 15 minutes after my scheduled time by the way. They don't clean anything, just plug the root canal tooth so that the hole isn't exposed anymore. And THAT IS ALL THEY DID AND THEY ARE GOING TO BILL TRICARE ANYWAYS!!!!!!! APPARENTLY, the moron that took my call did not make ANY NOTES AT ALL about needing a cleaning. And APPARENTLY this office doesn't place crowns until after you've been seen first. And when I said someone should have called, the moron hygentist said it was my responsibility to call THEM to confirm my appointment information. So it's all MY FAULT apparently that I did not get a cleaning NOR my freaking crown. I have never been so livid at a doctor's office before in my life. We're reporting them to Tricare as negligent. Not exactly sure how I feel about them. I started going a few yeArs ago & at first they were great then I'm noy6sure what changed...maybe since I was working full time and could only go on Saturdays so then dentist I originally used changed. Still I know atleast the 1st and I think 2nd visit was great. I do know my last visit the oral hygienist that did my root canal stuff wasnt as experienced as my previous ones.totally my fault for never saying anything but I never was happy with the tooth she made ( crown maybe- not sure what's it is called but all my previous ones looked like actual teeth -perfect...that last one was an odd shape and just completely smooth-justlooked & felt fake to me..I doubt other people noticed though so I would of continue going...but it's like that very last time I went just was bad experience all the way around.for one I also have fibromyalgia and been terrified of the dentist.they did do good making me feel at ease, reassuring me itd be ok etc.but I literally couldn't even get 2 pain pills -of anytype not even mild prescription ones! Blew my mind.i knew I'd be hurting the next 2 days bc I'd already had a couple root canals with them and literally asked if I could have something for pain -anything at all for the next day or two just 2-3 and they told me they didnt prescribe pain medication at all, so that sucked-literally sucked so bad for me that even though I enrolled in the better, most expensive dental insurance, I literally didn't even use it and go not even 1 time last year which I do regret. I should of atleast gotmymoneys worth :( ...Then...also that last timeI had an issue with the billing.i will say the main lady up front was always absolutely amazing.she was super nice and always knew what it'd cost and how much my deductible or copay sould be and we tried to utilize it the best ways possible over servalvisits so I could get as much done with as little out of pocket. I'm not even sure what happened with that the last appointment but I left maxing out my insurance which I expected but what I didnt expect was going over more than $1000 and having such a big out of pocket balance to pay. Especially since it was at the end of the year and the plan was toad out the insurance with little to no out of pocket cost then start with the next thing that needed done a couple of months later when my insurance renewed....I really want to give them another try but I'm scared. Idk what I'll do. If itwerent for that last visit and after I'd give them 4-4 1/2 stars but with everything with the last visit & after I feel I'm being extremely considerate giving 3. There are a few other things that happened as well , I just dont feel li ki e getting into everything as I feel like I've already written the 1st chapter of a book. I guess id say go & see how you feel after the 2st visit. Give them a chance, especially if you need the convenience of being nearby & open on Saturdays. Dr. Tosto is a wonderful dentist. He listens to his patients and is very clear on what procedures he's doing and why. His staff is very professional and clean. I never used to like the dentist until I found Howard Family Dental! Highly recommend! read more

Dr. Robinson is incompetent. I brought my daughter there with an extraction letter from our orthodontist, and he could not understand the terminology used by the ortho. I definitely won't be having her tooth pulled at this dental office. read more
