I've stayed at this hotel several times while in the Norco area and my stays have been much better than several area hotels. The price was very fair and the staff is extremely helpful. I recently stayed here on 2-28-20 and on my check in I asked about availability the following day. I was informed that they were sold out which is what I also saw online. The front desk person took my info down and said they will check in the morning if they can arrange something for me. On 2-29-20: I got a call from the front desk and was informed they can accommodate me with the same room I had originally. It worked out perfect. I've been to another similar hotel down the street from this location and had a similar situation and they did not attempt to help in anyway. The place is dirty! Torn carpet, stains on the wall, stains on the bed skirt. The bathroom doors look like they have just been repaired over being broken. No hot water. The toilet barely flushes. I only stay here because my company pays for it. One room had an end table in the bathroom with the coffee pot next to the toilet. Yesterday, I put my suitcase on the bed and a cockroach came off the wheel from being on this dirty carpet. I am a timeshare owner with Wyndham and they should be ashamed and embarrassed to attach their name to this place. read more

Demolition and relocation is the only hope for this insult to the once proud reputation of the Howard Johnson namesake. How can anyone feel safe when the safe is beaten and abused obviously broken into. The entry door forcibly opened having broke the security latch. The sink outside the tiny people bathroom that doesn't drain. Commode that is so low to the ground the vermin can use it. Totally unsafe for families and those non-criminal in nature. Hazard for those with impaired mobility, horrendous sidewalks with dilapidated stone paths through dirty, muddy landscape. There is 1 redeeming quality.... the beds (mattresses) are of exceptional quality. Too bad the bed is in a piss hole, where only the tired, exhausted traveler would be forced to pay. We booked a lovely king room and loved the stay because it was quiet and stocked with everything we needed. However, the customer service, maid service, and overall pleasantry of the hotel went for a decline. Not once in the days that I booked my stay did anyone from maid service come to service the room, dump trash, or give fresh towels. The sheets and bedding (guaranteed clean and fresh) had fresh blood on he inside of the sheets. No replacement of the sheets were given and when I did try to escalate the situation at hand I was met with huge resistance. My significant other had an emergency where I needed to get into the room (in which I had a key) and it would not work. Mr. Smit Patel, the hotel's manager, was absolutely no help. Not only would he not allow me access to a room I paid for but he wouldn't corporate with my concerns about my significant other who may or may not be unconscious behind the door. The second night that I was at the hotel I couldn't sleep in the room I paid for and I was denied a partial refund. Along with this situation, when it came time to check out, I misplaced my room key and had to pay $50 dollars out of my $100 dollar deposit for the key and by the end of the interaction, I got none of my deposit. Mind you, there was nothing that stated such actions would be taken. When I raised these concerns to Mr Patel he cursed me and left the lobby towards the back but not before putting a sign up refusing service should they see fit. I ended up needing to call the authorities because of this situation and was out of my money as well as my time. Bottom line: not a bad motel to stay it's cozy but the service is piss poor. I hope something can be done to rectify this situation because not only am I out of my hard earned money, but I was late to my appointment. My boyfriend & I have stayed at this place MULTIPLE TIMES. And lately it's been a sh*t hole. Very rude people , lost my purse some cheap purse with 100$ in it went to come back for it 20 mins after leaving "could not find it". I'm guessing one of the maids needed it. Of course y'all couldn't find it. The soaps are NEVER restocked, shower rack fell off, some rooms REEK of cigarette even when they aren't no smoking rooms. And to top it ALL OF the worst is the maid OPENED THE DOOR while me and my boyfriend were inside NAKED !!! We had to yell at her to get out !! It was 3 knocks and she just opened the door and WALKED IN ON US NAKED IN BED. Very unprofessional. Save your money read more

If I could give this place a zero I would . This hotel is awful! The management is horribly rude and the rooms are dirty and disgusting. They wouldn't let my son go pee after they disconnected my keys on our second day at our 4 days reservation. The kids and my boyfriend had the key to get in but the hotel disconnected it and therefore my kids were displaced until I could get off work. And the man in the lobby screamed at me with my son standing next to me... I would never stay here again also they got my reservation all incorrect by cutting it a day short. I checked in with my 3 kids around 9 pm, hoping to rest and sleep in, only to be woken up every hour with what sounded like construction above us or next to us and a phone call at SEVEN THIRTY IN THE MORNING, telling me I had to wake up and move my car because they would be fixing their parking lot. After waking me and my children up (who were finally sleeping like a rock), we couldn't go back to sleep because of the loud sounds of pavement being torn up. The assistant manager was extremely rude with me on the phone and swearing and calling me name. He kept lying to me on how he would speak to his manager and never was. we arrived on 10/28/2023 the room was right next to the laundry room the lady's were very noisy had to contact the front desk. There was a big gap in the door enough to ware you could look right into the room clearly , directv didn't work they had to come into the room and replace the box. My son accidentally left his air pods on the bed when we went back we showed management that the location still showed them located in the laundry room but they said we don't have them. 15 minutes after we left the the air pods traveled to an address in riverside. I contacted management again and got a rude response very angry asked for corporate number he would not give it to me and ask his name he would not give it to me he hong up on me I called back and he started cursing me out very disrespectfully very angry. We contacted the Norco police to assist but they gave them no information. We had riverside PD go to the location we're it shows the location of the AirPods but they would not answer the door. I booked a room online through booking.com for this evening I booked a king size room I came to check in I told him I had to service dogs they wanted to see their paperwork I showed them their California service dog license they would not except that I had to call the police to explain to them what they are allowed and not allowed to ask about service stores they kept saying they are not dog friendly. I tried to tell them that is not the case with service dogs. They finally agreed to give me the room it was on the second floor with two queen size beds not what I reserved I do not recommend this place at all the front desk guys were rude and arrogant and did not want to assist me I have a physical handicap and they did not want to give me a room on the first floor and there is one open down below me. read more

They didn't have maid service and the room didn't seem all that clean especially the tv remote was nasty and filled with gunk, Plus we had to ask for towels, toilet paper, and help with the tv. The noise around the complex was bad and upstairs stomping around until 1 or 2 in the morning. The smell of marijuana was prevalent every night and early morning. The sheriff's car was cruising through the parking lot periodically and another customer upstairs was complaining about finding 2 syringes in his room and was going to call the police because the office wouldn't refund his money although he'd been there just over 30 minutes (20 of which was on the phone to the front desk). We booked the KING SMOKING ROOM which you can find on the Howard Johnson by Wyndham website and every booking site. CLEARLY listed as a smoking room. Upon check in the desk will tell you it is a smoking room. After check out they will charge you for smoking in a non smoking room. We own a national company and travel more than 20 days per month. We typically stay at nicer hotels for the comfort. Most are non smoking which is fine as we don't smoke in our home, vehicle, and of course...most hotels so we don't mind going outside or to our car at some locations. We were surprised to find a Howard Johnson with a smoking room. We asked TWICE to confirm it was a smoking room. Thankfully, the booking company we used has given us a future credit for the amount we were charged for smoking as their investigation found the same thing, smoking room listed on their site and howard johnsons website, smoking room booked! PLEASE pay attention to the reviews from NON SMOKERS that were also charged for smoking in the room and believe them. If you get a smoking room, record them saying you can smoke in it!!!! They are running a scam. As for the rest of the hotel, what you are getting is not what you expect from a Howard Johnson or any Wyndham hotel. It was not great, but not the worst hotel we have seen. For a proper comparison it is like an old motel 6. We did not see bugs inside. The bedding is light but appeared clean. The carpet appears clean but we spilled a little water on it and when we dried it with a towel the towel was very dark grey so it could use a shampoo and disinfecting. Its not what is in the pictures, but a lot of hotels are not. The staff is somewhat polite as long as you don't have a problem. We were checked in for approximately 16 hours but stayed in the room 9 hours on a layover. We are concerned about their business practices along with the number of people that have experienced the same charges. We will be submitting everything to Consumer Affairs for deceptive and misleading business practices in hopes that they change all of their listings to non-smoking or stop charging the clients that book a smoking room. We can't change what we are dealing with, but we can work to ensure others don't have the same thing happen to them. read more

We decided to make an affordable decision for a quick overnight stay and made a good decision. We checked in and were greeted by two night gentlemen after waiting for about 3 minutes. We got our room keys and came to find out they didn't work. We had to go back to the front desk, and the second pair worked perfectly! The room is simple and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The deadbolt on the door did not work but we made to sure to Chain the door up when we went to sleep. The walls were a little thin and could hear stomps outside and our neighbors getting home late at night but it wasn't too bad besides that. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and slept very well. We would recommend this hotel for people who want an affordable, clean, simple place to stay. read more

Pillows were better than the basic foam pillows so that was nice. Our room had a refrigerator which was nice. Skipped the continental breakfast in favor of a local spot. me and my husband and our three little kids chose this hotel because we thought it would be fun for the kids we got the room with a queen bed and bunk beds. the room only came with 4 wristbands for the pool and they wouldn't let us order or buy an extra wristband for my ONE year old child. so we couldn't even enjoy the water park as a family and that is the only reason we picked this hotel . the staff was rude and not even trying to give us other options. I even called before booking the room and was asking questions about the water park and if it was included and not once did they advise you had to have wristbands. Booked a room for 2 nights through Priceline and got a pretty good deal at $62 per night, king bed. Has a small fridge (in dire need of defrosting ) and a microwave. The first thing we noticed upon pulling down the bed covers was the filth on the cover of the box springs. No way this just happened or that anyone with eyes on the housekeeping staff could miss! Looking at the room a little more, we notice how dirty the walls are. Yes it is a smoking room but this was who-knows-what slopped on walls and doors. Next the bathroom door knob locked me in the bathroom. The handle turned and turned but won't open the door. Luckily my husband was there and able open the door from the other side. So for the next two days we don't fully close the bathroom door. Sat afternoon we return to the room (#226 btw) and neither door key cards work, took 6 tries to get the card to read. When we checked out I talked to the guy at the front desk, explaining the bathroom door problem. He said "ok, we will have it looked at". I asked if he or other management ever goes to look at the rooms. He said "no I dont, but I have maintenance go look later". Yeah... that's not what I meant. The room wasn't clean, the door had a napkin shoved in the lookout hole because the glass had been removed, the door didn't fit the frame and 3 of the 4 lamps had no bulbs. stayed at a Howard Johnson hotel Saturday 10/30/21. Upon check in the doors were looked and was directed to a window on side of building. I asked why is hotel lobby locked and he blamed covid. I asked what time breakfast was served and he said it wasn't being served due to covid. I told him that I paid to stay at this location with breakfast being served. I Stated that the website says breakfast being served. His answer through the plastic window was I can go stay somewhere else. I advised no I can't, prepaid and no other rooms available elsewhere. I literally paid $199.97 for this hotel and now no breakfast. I travel a lot and every hotel I've stayed at the lobby is open and breakfast is being served so the check-in has already been a double negative. We went to the room, first thing was the awful smell. Literally smelt like 10 years of piss. I literally was gagging. This hotel room was so dirty that I was grossed out. I took pictures showing the dust, dirt, grime the hair in the bathtub, the broken safe, food splatter all over the furniture. The carpet felt like it hadn't been cleaned in 20 years, it was so sticky. I literally am looking for a complete refund. I will be filing complaints with every avenue possible until this gets resolved. I have never filed a complaint of all the years that I've traveled but I have to speak up because I'm not the only one obviously has a problem with this location the reviews online have been making complaints about this hotel forever. Whoever runs this location needs to have someone from corporate make a visit to address this. First off, if you change your pet policy after reservations have been made, don't grumble if people show up with pets because when the room was booked a week prior, pets were allowed, per their website. Hassle about checking in with a service dog is also not appreciated. As another user said, it's not a great place to relax, it is somewhere to stay when you've had too many beers and the clientele certainly reflects that. I made triple sure to not leave anything of value in my car but it would not surprise me if my car is broken into. One thing that I'm really not liking is that my DEADBOLT CHAIN IS BROKEN on my door. Not cool. So this is not a completely negative review, the rooms are decent and clean and the price is not too bad.The young gentleman who checked me in was pleasant and competent but the man at the desk later on was not friendly at all and was confrontational. I normally do not leave reviews on hotels (and I stay at a lot of different hotels) but I felt compelled to review this hotel in case any families with young children were considering booking at this Howard Johnson motel. WORSE HOTEL EVER!! I'M NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!! I should had taken pictures of it, but i was too tired and just wanted to go to sleep. ---The first thing that i noticed when i walked into the non-smoking room was that it smelled like someone smoked cigarettes in there. Secondly, i found pubic hair on the toilet rim with a broken toilet lid. Third, the front desk didn't tell me anything about a wifi password. Fourth, the air conditioning's cover housing was broken and was rattling really loud. i was annoyed from it so i shoved a pen into between the gap to stop the rattle. Fifth, NO COLD WATER!! It was just only hot water coming out from the sink and shower. Plus, the shower handle was broken!! And the last one that i was more unhappy about was when I checked out at the front desk, i had to ask for my own receipt. they didn't make a printout of an actual full paper receipt, they just torn off the copy of the manual receipt that was processed on the chuchanga (manual credit card copy) and just hand it to me. I looked at my receipt and looked at the front desk guy with a, "WTH look" . However, he just walked away back to his little office in the back. HE WASNT WEARING ANY SHOES!! JUST BAREFOOT!!
