Our driver was very rude when I exited the bus. I handed him the money for the ride. There was group of five of us. We were collectively going to tip him. I reserved Howard's service over a week in advance. He said it was $120 from Miami airport to our hotel in ft lauderdale and then $30 from our hotel to the cruise terminal the following day. I booked his service and he said to call him when we landed. I called him when we landed and he said he did not have an order for us. Apparently he forgot. I wish I had known about Howard and his company sooner!! No more miserable cruise arranged transfers for my family woohoooo! We go cruising every year and have been from FLL airport to Ft. Lauderdale cruise port many many times and have always stuck with the cruise line transfers since it was easier than figuring out car seats for the kids. Learn from our mistakes people. 1) Cruise line charges you around $15/person one way. Kids get charged too. It adds up! 2) You have to wait until the bus is full and they make stops at every ship of the cruise line. You may luck out and be the last people on the bus (crappy seats) but usually you have to wait a really long time. Last year we spent over an hour to get from our ship to the airport which is incidentally only 3 miles away (6/7 minutes direct drive). It is infuriating!! So I contacted Howard and a few other transfer companies directly through Yelp. Howard responded very quickly and was easy to communicate with. He also had the lowest quote and was the most pleasant to speak with (no automated replies. I immediately turned down the other companies and agreed to Howard's quote. He didn't require a deposit or a credit card number, it was just based on his word he'd be there and your word you wouldn't flake. Easy enough! I let Howard know what time we'd be getting off the ship but from my understanding he usually just texts the morning of at 7am to gauge when to come get you. Customs was ridiculously awful when we got in and Howard patiently waited for us no issue. His van was clean, comfortable and had wifi! It is clearly marked with his company name and he has a trailer hitched to the van for a ton of luggage. He also provided 2 car seats and 1 booster chair for the kids. Awesome!!! This is my first yelp review and I have never met Howard before our trip and he didn't ask me to write this review. I only mention this because I'm one of those middle aged skeptical guys that reads a yelp review and thinks the vendor asked his customer to write a review. I finally after all these years using yelp finally signed up to review vendors. Okay. On to the review. I used yelp to find a shuttle service. I called Howard on Sunday, August 7th, 2016 from the ship, before we pulled out of port on our 7 day cruise. My wife said we needed a shuttle from ft Lauderdale to Miami airport once the cruise was over on Sunday, August 14th. Nothing like waiting to last minute but nonetheless that is how our trip was going. I called the number for Howard's business. He picked up the phone. I told him I needed a ride the following Sunday for 4 people with a lot of luggage around 9am and he said "no problem" glad to help. He gave me a price that was reasonable and he told me to enjoy the cruise and he would call or text me around 7am the day of pickup to see what time we were getting off the ship. Sure enough he texted me at 7am sharp and asked me to keep him informed on when we would be getting off the ship. I was relieved to get that text because for the last two days on the ship it started going through my mind "what is my backup if this guy doesn't show up?" He didn't require a credit card or anything in advance when I called the previous week and I knew we were going to have a short window because our flight was at 12:45 pm. We ended up getting off the ship closer to 8:30am and he was picking us up within 5 minutes when we were out front. He put all 4 bags in the back for us and then we all got in his van. It was a pretty new van and he was playing 70's on 7 on XM radio, which I also like. My son was a little under the weather from the trip and we asked if it wouldn't be too much trouble if he could stop at a Walgreens or CVS if on the way so she could pick up some medicine. I wasn't sure if he would be okay with that, but he said no problem that we would need to be quick since he had another pickup at the airport once he dropped us off. He even told my wife where the cold medicine was in the store. "Go to the left and down to the second aisle from the end". Now that was impressive he knows the layout of the store. Howard's van was clean and he was on time and flexible too with the Walgreen stop in there as well. My son is almost an Eagle Scout and the scout oath or law always comes to my mind. A scout is trustworthy (he was on time). Thrifty (price was reasonable). Helpful (picked up our bags and even took us to a side trip to the store) Clean (van was clean).
