Hower lodge is like no other treatment center ..the owners chet and lissa dont treat there clients as just a pay check ..every woman that comes in is treated like family..hower lodge is a small facility for 6 ...there is no black out period. They help each woman where they are at and encourage the families to be envloveld in there treatment plan and as well with there recovery..all the staff are in recovery and are knowledgeable in the twelve steps and are active in there own recovery..hower lodge wants to help woman who want the help and at no way forces them to be at hower lodge . Hower lodge is an amazing place and a place I was and am able to call home. Hower lodge and the lovely and fabulous staff becomes your family and they are absolute angels. Hower lodge helped me save my life. I'm a chronic relapser and everyone at hower helped me see and take steps again towards my purpose and a purposeful and fulfilling life. Everyone goes way above and beyond. The best place to begin life again and resume being your wonderful self. My stay there now and prior has been nothing short of phenomenal and transformative. I used to say I'm done and I can't do this anymore about 30-100 times daily. I was continuously in fear in despair and done with life let alone broken and desperate. Hower lodge and a bit of faith and hope helped me put the pieces back together. Today, already, I have and can feel my purpose. I can smile and love. The disease of addiction takes everything away and with the help of some pretty amazing and inspiring people I'm getting and have gotten it back. It is indeed possible. Especially with the hower lodge family's help. Nothing but love, hope, experience, truth, fun and a whole new life. It's available for me and you too. They can guide you on this path of life and you can enjoy it at the same time. Well worth it. Our daughter spent 30 days at Hower Lodge and all I can say is that is was an extremely positive and productive experience for her. The home is just that, a home, extremely warm and comfortable and impeccably clean. The women-only atmosphere was very conducive to achieving a positive result. An in-house chef provided excellent and nutritious meals. Chet and Teresa are very dedicated and seem to have a calling to help others recover from their addictions. Both are very well respected in the recovery community. Plenty of daily activities, horseback riding, skiing, sledding, hiking, fun field trips, one on one counseling, and daily AA and NA meetings fill the day and keep everyone busy, occupied and focused on recovery. Parents are allowed to visit and when we did we found a warm and loving atmosphere. The whole staff were open, friendly and you could tell that they truly cared for whomever was there. Lake arrowhead is an excellent location for recovery and spiritual healing. I would recommend Hower Lodge to any female seeking help and recovery in a humane and comfortable atmosphere. Our daughter has stayed at Hower Lodge and received awesome care. The staff is professional and treat her like she is family. The home is very inviting and on a gorgeous lot. I was the 6th client at the Hower Lodge. And before I explain what made this place so awful, let me start by saying there were some great things about this rehab. It was my 4th facility in 4 years. Chec, one of the owners is an extremely knowledgeable and helpful guy. Thank god for him making the short time i was there very helpful. And Teresa, she's the program director and a blessing. A huge inspiration. I went to Hower Lodge not knowing it would be that cold and that the program didn't allow you to have any private phone calls with loved ones. Lisa, chec's wife and also cofounder of Hower Lodge made me feel like i was just a paycheck as soon as she found out i wasn't feeling comfortable and wanted to switch to a sober living in the area i go to school(Orange County). the day i left Hower Lodge she made comments about my mother having liver disease, saying it was me being dramatic and staging a way to leave. Her paranoia about me was another huge red flag this place was interested in helping me for what cash they could make. My friend came to see me that day, and mind you he's sober. Lisa had invited him up to drop my things off. Immediately she made them feel unwelcome and then started accusing my friends of lying about their identity! Ha. I chose to leave to be closer to my support systems, and truthfully because Hower Lodge showed me that day how little my core issues meant to them. As i was leaving, Teresa gave me words of encouragement and Lisa talked openly about how i was losing her out over 10,000 dollars. Her entire family was living in the rehab with us mind you. Talk about not separating work from life. the aa big book writes about being helpful to another alcoholic, Lisa who claims to be all about the book was rude, laughed at my personal issues in my face when i expressed i wanted to leave, openly made it known i was just Money to her by telling me if i wanted a ride to the bus station i needed to pay her 100 dollars, and my friends couldn't come back the the property to get me. Then said "the worlds smallest violin was playing a sad song as i left." Her downright disgusting obvious lust for my insurance money, coupled with the fact that the program offers no diversity in meetings, no there's no lake like advertised, you do not leave the house, except to go to the same meeting every night, they only cared at the end of the day about Money. Teresa and chec thanks for caring. But Lisa made me feel worthless and made my friend regret seeing me after traveling up the mountain 3 hours and bring me warm clothes, to be character assasonated for it. Lisa; this is my first chance I've had that you might see my review and see how hurtful ur actions were. You did give me drive to prove you wrong and I'm still sober transferred to a sober living! Teresa's encouragement helped get me through not knowing if i could stay sober after being rushed out the door and made to feel like a dollar amount not a person. I wouldn't recommend this program to any close friends, or anyone suffering unless they need a program that is jail but in a decent home. The owner took things personal and is only in this for financial gain as far as i can tell. Don't let her fool you at first, any place that is gonna request 100 dollars for a safe ride down a dangerous mountain and refuse to let your best friend get you, probably doesn't care if you succeed in sobriety. More likely she'll want you to fail so you can spend more money going back to her rehab. The raw truth is this experience really left me with resentments towards sobriety since now a days it's about money not the principles. Go here at ur own risk!
