Donated blood at this location today. It's located on the corner of Van Buren/Garfield. All staff wear masks and gloves, hand sanitizer is provided and the chairs are socially distanced. Such a cute place! It's decorated with a summer/island theme and they have great music playing! Good Vibes! Once I checked in, there was about a 3 minute wait until I was called back to a little room for a few questions, blood pressure, temperature and Iron check. (Maybe 10 min tops). Then I was brought to a nice laid back comfy chair and about 20 minutes later I was finished. Pang, my Phlebotomist, was sooo sweet. She kept checking on me to make sure I was doing well. *They have you wait 15 additional minutes in their "Cantina" so you can have a drink and snack and someone can keep an eye on ya. I snagged a Very Large shirt, but cute none the less. *filling out the "Express Pass" located at the bottom of your Appointment Email Confirmation saves lots of time. I have been giving blood here and to the organization since I was in high school. I sincerely appreciate there team and how much they care for all those who walk through the door. They truly go above and beyond to make sure each patient is taken care of and is comfortable from the time they sign in to when they enjoy the snacks after giving blood. I had a great experience here. This was my first time giving blood at this center, and the staff and nurses were great! They all had a great sense of humor and were really pleasent folks. The center's AC was nice and cool. The waiting area had nice leather chairs to eat your cookies and drink your juice at. I have donated a ton of blood in my life, and I would rather donate here than at those mobile trailers that have no AC, and are cramped and uncomfortable. First time at this location (Riverside) and I must say that I will return! Upon arrival, I was greeted by Shaye! She welcomed me and from then on I was treated like a little princess. I mentioned that I'm a hard stick and a nervous person, but she maintained pleasant and calm. She asked me if I was comfortable, needed a drink/snacks, or anything to make my stay more comfortable. She was very accommodating and thankful for my donation. Such a sweetheart!!! Her touch was light and gentle unlike some other needle sticks that I've had in the past when it felt like the needle went through bone and out the back side of my arm. Shaye is a good natured person with a kind soul. I cannot say enough nice things! I will definitely request her whenever I'm at this location. After completing my donation, she led me to their spotless canteen which had a variety of drinks, snacks, and sweets. I was so touched by her kindness that I almost wanted to invite her to sit with me (kind of like a lunch date with an old friend). Everyone was friendly and made sure I was feeling good to leave. LifeStream calls me multiple times a week to get me to donate then when I get there at 3pm they tell me they're closed when their hours state 4:30pm. Went to a mobile donation center. Very nice staff. But you see it all in places like this. Crazy creepy dude tried to kiss the phlebotomist. Said a bunch of creepy stuff to little girls too. Odd. The staff handled it more professionally than I would have... Anyways this place is good. They DO use a much larger gauge needle than other organizations, so now you're warned. They occasionally give out like$10-15 gift cards for blood donations. read more

They scheduled me for plasma. I had to turn down work bc of the appointment and then I get there and they tell me they're not taking plasma from b+. Not that the machine was out or anything. Just that they wouldn't do it bc I'm b+. They knew my blood type. I'm in their system. I'm a frequent donor. Yet no one felt it appropriate to contact me and let me know. Instead I wasted a hole day and lost work for nothing. The "what's the big deal" attitude I got from them too was just over the top. Ill never donate again. read more

The staff overall is great. I have donated here at least 4 times. They are fairly consistent. They ask you to wait 15 minutes after you donate in order to monitor you. This last time I donated, I brought my wife along to drive since we were in a hurry. When I tried to leave, a middle aged Hispanic woman told me that I was required by law to stay. I told her they are required to monitor me by California law. She put the printed gold plaque in my face stating that I was not allowed to leave in a very negative way. I was breaking the Law to leave. It wasn't worth making a further scene. Of course they cannot legally make me stay. In order to not further this, I agreed and decided to just stay for the 15. The RN heard and spoke to her. She then got in in my again and told me that I can leave if I want, she made it clear that I misunderstood her and she never said I must stay. It was very strange. Way too much ego for a volunteer snack giver to be hassling me like this. I usually go earlier and deal with nicer people who are polite and friendly. (After the donation, I'm talking about.) I'll just always plan to have enough time for the 15 minutes to avoid any conflict or anxiety for the snack giver. They of course are just doing what they are told to do. This location is horrible. I attend my appointment and I bring my boyfriend as a friend who is new and would like to experience donating plasma, and his experience was horrible. We walked in and talked to the ladies in the front. The attended us very poorly and it seems one was training the other... very poorly. We were emailed the day before to bring 2 proofs of home address. We had taken our ID and our pay stubs. She had only asked for my social security card. As if I would have that important document in my wallet. We were about to leave already walking out when she said "we can verify your social if you read and sign this". We were very confused why she hadn't offered that before we turned our backs. She had also been very aggressive and told both of us to sit down. We were sitting for a while when we realized they were in a bigger group huddled and laughing in the front. We were super confused on why we were sitting and waiting she explained nothing to us and on top of that they were gossiping about their lives and their vacation time. We decided to cancel our appointments due to the very unprofessional nature we were in also very uncomfortable. I wish they had explained the process to us instead of push us aside. I love, love, love the folks at LifeStream. I've given blood through them and through the Red Cross, and never want to give to the Red Cross again. Red Cross uses the lancets that they have to push into your finger manually (oww!), whereas LifeStream has far less painful ones. Red Cross folks don't pay attention to you while you're on the table...and don't monitor the cantina as closely. If you're not comfortable being outspoken with Red Cross, there's a chance that your visit to them isn't going to end well. So now that I've convinced you that you should give to LifeStream, let me tell you why they're so great. First, I have never met a phlebotomist who works with them who isn't friendly, outgoing, full of energy, and generally engaging enough to distract you while they pull a pint of blood out of your body. (At the LifeStream offices they have TVs and things to distract you, too, but if you give at a mobile drive, the folks working at them will make it a snap.) They seem to sincerely like their job and employer, and look out for you first and foremost. Now here's where I get grouchy. I have never been turned away by LifeStream when I go to a mobile drive. Success each time! But each and every time (three, and counting) I try going to the office to give, they say my iron is too low. My destiny is to give on a bus, it seems. read more

I donated blood today. The staff was nice and friendly. I liked it. I will definitely be donating as a regular. So I decided to donate blood because my class was offering extra credit. I decided to go here. I made an appointment online. I came early and they registered me in. Then they took me back and did a quick physical. They check your iron level with a tiny prick on your finger. After, they check your temperature, your blood pressure, and your pulse. Then they'll give you a questionnaire and screen you if you're a candidate for donation. I was a good candidate so Ib proceeded. They'll sit you down on a trippy chair that makes you feel like you're sinking. Then they'll actually collect the blood. I was really scared, but it wasn't that bad. When the needle goes in, it hurts a bit, but then you don't feel anything. The whole blood collecting process took about 10 minutes. Maybe less. Then they'll make you rest a bit in the lunch area where you can get a free drink and snack. Took less than 30 minutes to donate blood and save a life. You should consider donating! read more

Don't waste your time. Donate to the Red Cross or anywhere else. You come to "donate blood" not sell it and they treat you like you owe them something. It's the time of Covid 19 and I understand the world sucks. However I made an appointment to GIVE blood on a Thursday and was 10 minutes early, I was asked a series of questions that are standard. However one new one have you been around anyone who tested positive for Covid 19. I explained that a coworker had tested positive but I had not seen or worked with that person for 12 days and that I do not work directly with them. They said I had to wait 14days and to reschedule for Tuesday at 4:15. (This is interesting to me since at this point does anyone not know of someone) I accepted this and I came to my appointment at 4:18 (traffic on magnolia construction). I waited outside and no one comes to the door. I push the afterhours button and nothing. I finally walk in at 4:22 and ask what's going on and they say we are closed and to go outside. I say I have an appointment and I'm told to go outside. I go outside and 4:28 the same person from Thursday says I need to reschedule and that they are closing. I explained, I had the appointment and that she turned me away and scheduled this appointment. I said I was a few minutes late and standing outside like a moron and waiting for the door person to let me in and I just came in. She said come back tomorrow morning, I said I have to work and then she say come back tomorrow afternoon. I let her know I had an appointment today, and only a few minutes late. She explained the big strain it would put on her to do it and I said never-mind. I even took the time to do the precheck online. I will just give blood the next time my church has a drive. I will never come back here again. Waste my time too many times and I get the picture, you don't want my help. In addition it's 4:54 and a guy just came out from giving blood and the staff are still inside. read more

Went here for the first time. All the staff I encountered were very cheerful and friendly. I had already filled out their online assessment prior to going in, so my appointment went quickly. My health screening was done in ten minutes. My blood donation was quick and painless!! I didn't feel the needle go in my arm. First time that's ever happened!! I wish I could recall the name of the phlebotomist because she was great. I didn't have any bruising after, either. Another first!! I sat for 15 minutes after for observation. There are snacks, water, coffee. The center appeared clean and tidy. I will go back in two months for another donation!! read more

If it weren't for the people I was helping, I would NEVER donate blood through Life Stream again. I've had appointments at least a few days ahead of time EVERY TIME I've donated and not once did they honor my appointment that THEY called me to make. Not to mention the fact that today I rushed home from work in order to be on time for my appointment (which was to be the last one on "the list") and as i pulled into the parking lot they were already packed up and leaving (30 minutes before i was told they were scheduled to). The staff here is awesome, they are courteous and inviting. They do there best to remember your name when you become a regular and really make you feel appreciated for volunteering. The snacks and drinks are great and you can even watch a movie if you donate platelets and or plasma.
