I can never understand people who make generalizations about the overall quality of a facility based on only one experience. My wife and I have been living on this mountain for over 30 years full-time and I hate to think of how many times I've been here for ER or radiology or blood work or CT scans or x-ray; I think I've seen just about every department here and I can't recall any experience that was anything less than outstanding. EVER. Not too long ago I had pain in my left arm, which can be a sign of heart trouble. It wasn't debilitating by any measure but I thought I should have it checked, just in case. I went into the ER, told the receptionist my problem and within a couple of minutes I was in the back, IV started, blood being drawn, monitors hooked up and beeping away... everyone was friendly, caring, and telling me exactly what was happening and who was doing what. Then came the mobile x-ray, heated blankets, and so on. It was a "swarm" of friendly, caring people. The doctor came in and again explained was what happening, and what to expect in the next couple of hours. It turned out to be nothing and I had over-reacted, but I was assured that I had done the right thing by coming in. I've been with my wife through 20+ years of her breast cancer and I've seen a lot of big-name medical facilities in Southern California. UCLA, Loma Linda, St. Bernadines, etc. Mountains Community Hospital certainly measures up. It's smaller, for sure, but in my experience that's a good thing. They also have a skilled nursing facility (SNF) attached to the hospital. I've seen over a dozen similar facilities in the San Bernardino area; this one is in a league by itself. My wife is now a resident there and even before she was admitted I felt like I had a new family. Everyone is so friendly, personable, and eager to give outstanding care. Squeaky clean and very quiet. They take good care of me, too, and even thank me for coming to visit my wife. And the food... people who complain about hospital food have clearly not eaten here! Needless to say, the food is quite good. As of this writing they have earned Medicare's highest rating. Again, it's small and again, that's a good thing. The skilled nursing has a beautiful outdoor area where the residents can enjoy the sun and nature. If they can't get out there by themselves, the staff will take them. I'll let the attached picture do the talking. I wish I could give the hospital and SNF more than 5 stars!

My son got into an accident at a nearby sixth grade camp on the mountain and needed stitches. We didn't know the area but had to come to this hospital. Dr Sheiko did a wonderful job talking to my son and explaining how he was going to do the stitches and calmed him down. We had the stitches taken out last week and our pediatrician informed us it was a wonderful job as well (stitches on side of eye).

just gave a 5star review - 20yr mtn resident -do pretty good for a small-town med center, only complaint is the wait long wait checking-in

We were in the lobby for 4 hours before being seen by a doctor. I'm assuming they are under staffed. There was a girl who was deathly ill and sobbing in the lobby. I don't think anyone checked on her or spoke to her despite her cries. I separated my shoulder. The first time they called me was to get my blood pressure and general info, so I was invited inside the clinical area. While I was sitting there, some dude was walking around. I don't remember exactly what he was wearing, but I don't think he was in scrubs. He was telling me he thinks my shoulder is broken and that it's gonna be a lengthy recovery. Not something anyone would want to hear. I questioned his credibility and asked him really? He said we can "bet money on it"... It was really unprofessional. He wanted to prove some weird point that he's confident that he can guess my diagnosis. Later the doctor came with the X-Ray results and it ended up just being a separation. And no broken bones (thanks weird unprofessional dude for the awkward interaction and trying to convince me that I had a broken bone). The clinical staff was great. The doctor was caring and answered my questions. I was also helped by a male nurse, he was good too and hardworking. If only the wait time wasn't so long, but I understand the clinical staff did their best. Either they are understaffed or lots of people had incidents that day, hence the long wait time.

That is appreciated. Not all asthmatics will wheeze, and it can present differently so medical professionals just need to be aware of that. There was one PA who kicked me out of the ER in 2014 and nearly killed me and he doesn't believe other people's asthma attacks either. I'm talking about Kurt Harris. All the people he's ever failed are all over google reviews. The doctor at Cal State gave me an asthma treatment two days later and said she was incredibly close to sending me to the ER. I don't care that it was 12 years ago. I'll never forget that I came very close to not being here because he rendered zero treatment. I am very thankful a doctor realized I actually couldn't breathe right and helped me. I was in the ER last month and had a really great PA. She listened, asked questions and figured out that it was viral gastroenteritis after ruling out flu and covid. She made sure I wasn't dehydrated. Gastroenteritis isn't necessarily an emergency, but I never had a case that bad before and didn't know what was happening. she gave me some Zofran and a medication for stomach cramping. The gastroenteritis lasted a long time for me, so I followed up with primary and they did a lot of tests to rule out other stuff. The bathrooms need to be cleaner, especially the ones in the lobby. Also, there is a wide gap in the doors and that is not okay.

HA! But the tour was FREE and they were only accepting donations as payment. The only inconvenience, really, was the drive. That was about an hour and a half. With our adventure, it was well worth it. The tour was surprisingly fun and entertaining. We went inside to a small air conditioned house-like place with four or five rooms. It was full of artifacts and we had our own private 'tour guide' to provide us with a history of the land and a detailed explanation of all of the artifacts in each room. After about four rooms with very detailed information about the fascinating history of the asylum, we were able to walk about on our own. My fiance and I explored about asking questions and taking lots of photographs. We them walked out from the museum and went back to our vehicle. We were advised by one of the tour guides of a cemetery on the grounds but we could only access it outside of the asylum. So we got in our vehicle and wandered about. We somehow wound up touring the entire perimeter. Pretty sure that was not included in the 'tour" but we had a blast and we got to observe the entire lot! We likely will not be back due to the fact that the museum was small and we saw what we needed to see in one run. The museum was not very large but it was definitely worth the trip. I would highly recommend it!

I just had no idea what it meant to receive high quality care from a physician until I started coming here last year. What a refreshing change from the status quo From the first visit when I met Dr. Vasquez, I knew right away I hit the lottery of healthcare. He spoke to me in a way that made me feel heard and cared for PERSONALLY by him. It's hard to explain, but this man makes everyone feel special; it's not just me who feels this way. The staff also speaks very highly of him, and they knew exactly what I was talking about when I shared my experience with them. Speaking of staff; a special shoutout to Samantha, Kaylee, and Julia. Not to say that everyone else here isn't amazing as well, but these 3 individuals shine extra bright. Whether it's by phone, or when I come to the office for an appointment, my experience with them has always left me wanting to tell more people about this office. Well worth the drive, even if you don't live near Crestline (I drive 50 minutes to get here). I spent a week in the hospital during a very serious and vulnerable time involving my heart and overall health. The one bright part of my experience was my cardiologist, Dr. M. Patel, who placed two stents and treated me with professionalism, compassion, and care. I am truly grateful for the way he communicated with me and helped me feel supported during such a frightening medical situation. Most of the nurses who cared for me were also amazing, attentive, and compassionate during my stay. However, there were still serious concerns that left me feeling emotionally distressed and unsupported as a patient. After my second stent procedure, there was an issue where my lunch and dinner were never ordered, and my husband and children had to repeatedly call so I could receive food. During recovery from a major heart procedure, basic patient care and communication should not fall on family members to manage. I also became deeply concerned when discharge was being discussed even though my blood pressure was still unstable after surgery. I ultimately had to contact a case manager myself because I did not feel medically safe leaving without additional observation. In addition, one staff interaction lacked the bedside manner and compassion that patients deserve during vulnerable medical moments. While I understand healthcare workers are under pressure, communication and emotional care matter greatly when someone is hospitalized and frightened. After leaving the hospital, I also called more than once to report my concerns and request follow-up regarding how I was treated, but I never received a callback or resolution. That lack of communication added even more stress during recovery. I share this review not to attack anyone, but because patients dealing with serious heart-related medical issues deserve to feel heard, respected, properly monitored, and cared for. I hope this feedback encourages stronger patient communication, follow-up, and accountability moving forward.

It was so traumatic for him and we ended up having to give him meds orally which was still a struggle but were able to do.And then the doctor ordered blood work but it took hours because there was a miscommunication with the phlebotomist saying they were waiting for him to get the iv to be put in but no one told them they couldn't do it. Then again for the blood work we had to hold him down again and 3 other nurses still COULD NOT DO IT. I had to tell them to try his hand instead and it still took a minute but they were finally able to get the blood needed. Then we waited hours...no one came by to check on him or update us on anything. After about 6 hours in the ER my son was feeling better due to the medications and was starting to get antsy and sice we had been there all day we had not eaten anything. I had to ask several nurses to please get the doctor to see what is going on. The doctor finally showed up and checked his vitals again and said that he was good to go and let me know all the medication he prescribed and then said to wait there for the discharge paperwork. It took an additional hour to get discharged.
