The teachers are kind, warm-hearted, and very attentive to the children. My daughter was always happy to go to daycare, which as a parent says so much. I loved that their days were filled with a great variety of activities -- learning through games, cooking activities, creative projects in the classroom, and plenty of active play outdoors. She was always busy, engaged, and excited to tell me about her day. I was also very happy with the food they provided. My daughter loves to eat, so this was definitely important to us! She always came home full and happy, and I really appreciated the variety of meals and snacks offered throughout the day. After two years, we are leaving with so many warm memories. It's a wonderful feeling to know that your child is spending her day in a place where she feels happy, comfortable, cared for, and loved. A big thank you to all the teachers and staff for everything you've done for our daughter!

This was his first daycare experience, and Shusha took him in and treated him as her own. His language and social skills blossomed right away. He had always been a very picky eater, but he loved Ms Mariam's cooking, and was always trying new and unexpected foods for the first time. Shusha was so loving and even went out of her way to personally help feed him on the days he struggled. We have since moved, and our son is now five years old. We have since attended three other wonderful schools with our two boys, but none of them compare to Shusha's school. For a nervous mom sending her son to school for the first time, it felt as if we were sending him to a warm, loving relative's home to play for the day. We still see the amazing activities she plans on social media, and think fondly of our son's time there. We are so grateful to Shusha and her team to have had the perfect first school experience.

I searched far and wide to make sure my child was going to be in the best hands. I couldn't have picked a better school. Miss Hayley, Miss Evelyn, and Miss Me'ami are three of the most loving, caring, and energetic people I've ever met. My three year old is having the best time learning how to make new friends, express himself, and grow in ways I've never imagined. His confidence and language skills have gone through the roof this year. He comes home from school with the biggest smiles (which alone would be enough!) but also shares with me everything he's learning from how to cut fruit, to weather patterns, and even who invented the potato chip (spoiler alert: it was George Crum). If you're looking for "play based learning," the teachers and owner are the golden standard for this approach (and if you're not familiar you must get familiar and find a play based environment for your kiddo-I have lots of thoughts on this). All the teachers care deeply about each student and are always exploring, considering and applying the most thoughtful means to help guide and nurture each and every one of them. I can't say enough. Go to an open house and see for yourself. You will be forever changed from the first step in the door. I heard so many good things about this school from friends with older kids before we toured and it did not fail to impress and inspire me.

Caterpillar Cottage is a true gem. Both our daughters attended pre-school here (our youngest is…read morestill attending), and though the girls have such different personalities, they both thrived. The school's approach is empathetic so that even the littlest children feel seen, heard, and understood. The teachers model and foster social-emotional skills skillfully, so that the kiddos become considerate but effective self-advocates and negotiators, establishing the building blocks for identifying their own emotions and needs and working through conflict. The teachers are gentle and caring. You feel totally confident leaving your child under their guidance, knowing they will be treated with respect and kindness. The teachers and director also become your genuine partners along the journey of raising your child. Through coffee hour chats, expert talks, knowledgeable resource recommendations, and one-on-one conversations they can help troubleshoot any parenting challenges you are working through. For myself and some alumni parent friends of mine, the school has been such a trusted guiding light that "Caterpillar" has become a verb. If you're not sure how to deal with a child situation, you ask yourself, "How can I Caterpillar this?" What would (lead teacher) Andrea say or do? All this is on top of the other good stuff of pre-school they provide: arts exploration, outdoor play, stories and gardening and science experiments and a lovely community of parents and friends. Highest recommendation!

As a first-time mom, I had many concerns about transitioning my daughter into a preschool program, but the Petite team quickly reassured me and made the experience such a positive one. From the very beginning, every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in the children. One of the things that stood out most was that every teacher knew my daughter by name, even those who were not her direct teachers, which truly showed how connected and caring the entire team is. Ms. Salmeena and Ms. Marilyn have built such a special program. Their dedication, leadership, and attention to detail are evident in everything they do, from the thoughtful planning to the incredible support they provide to both teachers and families. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at Petite. The impact this team has had on my daughter's growth, confidence, and development has meant so much to our family. It is incredibly bittersweet to say goodbye, and while I am so sad to see this chapter come to an end, I am comforted knowing we will be back next summer for camp! Montessori is so important and this school's approach is full of love, play, independence, nurture, art, music, dance, and strong education. My daughter's confidence, independence, learning, and social skills have soared because of this school. She has so many friends and I have made friends with the sweet community of parents. The layout of this school is so special. The outdoor area is massive and the classrooms have so many toys and books. Most of all, these teachers are the most compassionate women. They are expert teachers. My daughter LOVES her teacher. They have the most special relationship. All of the teachers are warm people that I feel very comfortable with. They transform these little balls of mush to independent big kids in the most loving way. I feel like I can call any time and when I have, any 5 of the teachers would magically know exactly what's going on with my child at that moment! In the beginning, when I needed updates on my daughter, this was the biggest comfort. They were so loving and kind during that difficult adjustment to school for the first time. I know as a teacher myself, this time of life is precious and goes by very fast. I want my daughter to have this time learning through play and toys, learning through friendships, learning through art and music, and learning outside before she starts kindergarten. Sorry, but as a teacher myself, I have observed TK. Not doing it. I want my child to have one more amazing year before public school. She will have 12 years of public school; Montessori is special. The school also creates the most precious memories with special events that I will cherish forever. Potty training was accomplished quickly and with so much encouragement. Parking is easy. Ms. Irma, the owner, and Ms. Ala, her assistant, are incredible caretakers who truly love what they do. My son started with them right when he turned 12 months and they both guided us through a great process of adapting to their care. I wanted a place that was small and where my son could socialize and learn, after spending his first full year at home with us. We looked for daycares for months and all were either too big for our taste with 20+ kids and lots of teachers or the small ones felt too informal. This place is a great size with just up to 7 kids that start from ages 1 year until they are ready for school. They have a classroom where they learn, have activities, nap, and also an outside area where they play. Irma and Ala keep it very clean, no one can come into the space (you are greeted at the outside gate due to health protocols) they are mindful of hygiene and make sure everyone is healthy, which is important when you are dealing with kiddos. Communication is key, and Irma sends constant texts and keeps you informed as the day progresses with the cutest pictures of the kids in their activities that range from painting or playdough, or even cooking (safely, of course). I have seen my son flourish in their care and loved that they have different ages as my baby has learned so much from the older kids as well. Every day he comes home with a new word or skill and is so happy and full of energy (and clean!) Their approach is very loving and caring, my son loves to go and gets excited as we head out every morning saying his little friends' names.
