My wife and I entered the bakery on a whim while walking on Center Street. It has a wide variety of…read morebaked goods, far more than we could justify trying. Everything looked good, and the young lady behind the counter provided immediate service. We had the eclairs and the Napoleons. The eclairs were excellent with good flavor and texture. They were smaller than what I think of as a standard size for an eclair, but we would get them again. The Napoleons were another matter. The layers of flaky puff pastry were soft and limp, not flaky and a bit crunchy as they should be. Perhaps the Napoleons had sat too long in the display case, and the pastry absorbed liquid from the custard layers. We would not buy a Napoleon there again.

When we received our order, one of our items was missing, so we had to go back and let them know. When we asked about it, we were met with a bit of an attitude, which was disappointing considering the mistake wasn't on our end. The missing item was a chocolate croissant, and when they finally gave it to us, it was extremely cold and hadn't been heated up at all. We also ordered a hot chocolate that was barely warm, definitely not what I would consider "hot" chocolate. I understand people can have bad days, and maybe we just came in at an unfortunate time, but between the unfriendly service, the missing item, the cold croissant, and the lukewarm hot chocolate, it wasn't a very good experience. I really hope the customer service improves because a little friendliness and attention to the order would have made a big difference.

I just spent 3 weeks in Hawaii, and this loco moco is amazing. Yeah, they aren't hard to get right, but the thing that stands out here is the hand-made (non-frozen) smash-style hamburger patties. Since the price was very reasonable, I thought I should order a second patty. Well, that was totally unnecessary, as the portions were already very generous. But I guess if you're really hungry and a competitive eater you might be able to finish this. I failed. Then there's the taro bread. Addictive and beautiful. I'd share a picture but it's gone. You can taste the butter on the bottom. It's light and fluffy, and purple. You can tell a lot of pride goes into the cooking here. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, so if you want a chill vibe, good quality food, and reasonable prices, I totally recommend.

Whoever put up the signs that say, "Try a fermented cookie!" and "The very best chocolate chip…read morecookie!" is a genius. I HAD to try one of these cookies strictly because the signs were enticing me to do so. The cookie was okay. Probably not the best chocolate chip cookie but not the worst. It was more on the cakey side and did have an acidic bite to it, which was unique. However, the sourdough bread is what really won me over! I was able to sample the regular, honey wheat, and dark bread and all were easily some of the best sourdough I've ever had. Crusty but airy, slightly acidic and full of flavor. It was delicious! I'd recommend visiting this bakery for the bread, the friendly and helpful staff, and the smells. (The smell of freshly baked sourdough bread fills the tiny shop from wall to wall.)

This is a unique shop is using time-tested methods in their fermentation, producing a bread that has depth of flavor that also packs a sour punch. The bakers explained that their fermentation methods result in a bread that is consumable by those with a gluten intolerance. We tested the breads available that day, each with their own distinct flavors and loved them, so I would like to know about the experience of other with a gluten intolerance. This charming shop also caries a variety of farm-to table goods like honey, sour cream, goat milk caramels, vegan cheese, milk, fudge, and freeze dried fruits and veggies. So when you head to downtown Provo, stop into the Time Traveler's Baker and get yourself some true sourdough.

It wasn't cloyingly sweet where it would make your stomach sick, which is what you might think when you saw it! Most of the donuts there were filled donuts and I'm not a huge fan of filled donuts because most of the time the combination of the donut and the filling does make you feel sick after eating one. But I heard the check out lady talking about how they made the cream for the donut I tried and I knew it was the one for me! I do wish they had options like a plain chocolate cake donut with chocolate icing. But this is more of a gourmet shop than your local, average donut shop, so I understand why they don't. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because the checkout lady was a bit scatter brained and didn't ask me if I wanted a receipt. When I asked for one she got even more flustered and couldn't figure out how to give me one and basically said oh well - you just can't have one. I wanted the receipt so I could turn it in to google surveys which pays me money for taking surveys and uploading my receipts. So I was kind of irritated.
