Fried scallops with vegetable fried rice ($5)

When it comes to Chinese take out places, Fort Greene is sorely lacking. Hua Long is perhaps the best (and cleanest!) option you have this side of the neighborhood. I just had Bean Curd Szechuan style, which was cooked with carrots and peas. Was it bursting with flavor? No, but for $8.50 it was a very generous portion that can feed 3 people. And you know what? It wasn't that bad considering it was tofu[1]. And it was nice and spicy the way I like it. The fried scallops with vegetable fried rice ($5) exceeded my expectations. The scallops (8), although not particularly flavorful[2], were fried well (not oily at all, although the exterior could have been more crisp). The fried rice was actually delicious: the grains were perfectly separated and had a nice chewy consistency; the peas were sweet and the bok choi nice and crunchy. Definitely the best part of the dish[3]. Their hot sauce is unfortunately mild. Skip that and use the Sriracha you have at home. They're open until 10:45 pm Sunday through Thursday, and until 11:45 Friday and Saturday. -------------------------------------------------------------------- [1] Not a big fan of tofu. Although stinky tofu.... [2] Which, to be honest, is to be expected at a Chinese takeout place like this one. [3] getting all excited about fried rice... I am so hopelessly white :-(

I was in the area and wanted to grab some food that wasn't just a small bite. I remembered this Chinese spot from when my husband whom was my boyfriend at the time worked around the corner. I came to visit him one day and of course got hungry and he told me to try this place. I really liked the barbecue rib tips with fried rice and their french fries. Although I do not frequent here when I am in area it is still a good place to go for decent chinese.

Not very tasty - Eggrolls are ok but fried rice and broccoli with garlic were not good.

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.

We were skeptical about this restaurant but it exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return! We came on a weekend for dinner so it was busy! We were able to snag a table and seeing how busy this place was, we knew it was going to be good! We had the pork XLB, chicken feet, pork & vegetable wontons with spicy peanut sauce, noodles with scallion and peanut butter sauce, beef lo mein and the beef ribs. Everything was delicious! The highlights of our meal were the pork XLB and the beef ribs. The pork XLB were made fresh to order and they were flavorful and juicy! Definitely on my list of best XLB I have ever had. The beef ribs were also delicious! They torched it table side which definitely added a nice touch! Considering how busy they were, the service was immaculate. They were also very attentive to details since we had a kid with allergies. We will definitely be coming back soon. This place is also right next to the Court Street train station which makes it very convenient to get to!

Very solid seaweed and also the cucumber salad. Scallion pancakes were thin and could have been more crispy. Overall very satisfied with the soup dumplings. Would go again.
