He also never pushes you to do anything extra, and is always upfront about costs and what insurance will cover. I always enjoy chatting with him, and I really appreciate that he uses numbing gel on my gums before cleaning (when I tell him I have sensitive gums). The office is generally clean, and it's nice that you can watch Netflix on the TV overhead. However, I feel that his front desk staff/hygienists have really gone downhill. Over the past couple of years, they have been pretty unfriendly whenever I come in. They also get annoyed/frustrated at me when I have trouble doing X-rays; they just kept shoving the apparatus forcefully into my mouth over and over again even when I keep gagging (and they actually cut the corner of my mouth). Finally when Dr. Q came over he showed them how to do it properly without causing a gag reflex. The last straw was when I had bad pain in my upper gums and I tried to make a followup appointment with his front desk staff; the lady I spoke to actually said I just needed to "brush better" and was very reluctant to make an appt for me initially. Another one of his staff said I probably "chew too much on that side of my mouth". I felt pretty insulted being dismissed by his staff like that, when the actual problem was I had an impacted wisdom tooth that needed to be removed asap (as Dr. Q informed me). I might consider switching dentists soon if I keep getting treated like this by his staff, even though Dr. Q is a great dentist.

Dr. Britton is great. He has the same care and appreciation for his patients that drew me to Dr. Hopper's office. I had to have a root canal (bummer), but they were professional, careful and gentle. I have somewhat neglected my teeth during many years of not having insurance, and Dr. Lee has really educated me about the importance of flossing all the time to take care of my gums. At first some of her explanations were a little bit over my head, but she was able to get the point across. She replaced a crown that I had done in Mexico and I could tell she is a bit of a perfectionist, and seems passionate about her work. Plus she is well mannered and has tiny hands which is custom tailored for working in tight spaces. She even showed me how to floss properly, which sounds really basic but there is a proper technique and it's not just pushing the string through your teeth. If you want to know more about this, ask me in a P.M. lol Of course going to the dentist isn't fun by any means. Yes you get stuck with a needle, have to sit still for a long time, it costs money, you have to here about how you need to do better oral maintenance, but you need to go and this is a good place, conveniently located in Mira Mesa. Everyone we talked to prior to our appointment and on the day of, was very friendly. The issue we had was with our dentist. She was so unprofessional from the way that she spoke to us, to the way that she was dressed. She did both of our examinations in what I can only describe as a party dress. Maybe she was going somewhere immediately after, but not what I would expect. But even more concerning is her examinations. She told me that she was going to clean my teeth but would only do half of it, and that I needed to schedule a second appointment within a week to do a "deep clean". I am 45 and have NEVER had a cavity. So I was shocked that my teeth would be that bad. She said the same thing to my wife and also told my wife that she had 6 cavities!!! We left feeling confused and unsure about this dentist. The next day my wife called to see if we can get a copy of our records and the X-rays. They NEVER followed up with us. We waited on this review until we could verify and get a second opinion. Our insurance would not cover another check up until 6 months later, so we finally got confirmation from our new dentist...which we loved!! No cavities for either of us, and a normal cleaning. I was also impressed that she understood my situation before I even had to explain it fully. A lot of the time, I find myself filling in the background first before a provider adjusts their view.
