My dentist was concerned about it, so she referred me to Dr. Mahdi Matin and his team at West Coast Oral Surgery. They discovered that not only did I have two bumps that were papillomas (which gave me a bit of concern as the first thing that popped into my head was HPV... which they quickly reassured me it wasn't), but they also wanted to remove them for a biopsy to make sure they weren't cancerous or anything like that. I went in last week to get the papillomas removed, and just yesterday got the official word... BENIGN! (Actually, I had known since this past Friday, as my dentist had also gotten the pathology results and were the first to tell me, but I still wanted to hear it from Dr. Matin.) What impressed me about West Coast Oral Surgery is that not only was the procedure quick and relatively painless once the anesthesia kicked in, but how professional the staff was in describing what the procedure would entail, treatment, and payment plans. While they don't take Tricare/Triwest (for those of you who have it), they do take CareCredit as a payment. Also, when the dental assistant asked what I wanted to listen to while they did my procedure, I said 80's tunes... but somehow the Pandora station started playing Motown and 70's music. No biggie, plus the assistant said she liked my musical taste! Definitely recommend Dr. Matin and the folks at West Coast Oral Surgery!

I had a smooth experience here; I…read morewas worried I wouldn't be able to have my wisdom tooth taken care of before I left on a long trip out of the country, but thankfully they were able to fit me in quickly for a consultation, and then the actual surgery that same week. The office seemed clean and comfortable. Dr. Matin was very nice and informative, and helped me feel calm through the whole process (though some of the staff seemed a bit short with me during the initial consultation). I'm glad he pointed out that I needed a sinus cover once my tooth was gone, as my tooth was located so far up it was connected to the sinus. On the day of the surgery, the process went smoothly and efficiently, and the staff helped calm my nerves. Although I had somewhat of a lengthy recovery at first, everything has healed nicely now without any complications. The price for the procedure also seemed reasonable (after insurance). In my consult where they went over the procedure, the meds, and the cost I was led to believe that this would be a positive experience. It was not. Upon arriving 15 minutes early like they asked, I had to wait an hour to be seen. When they finally brought me back into the area where they administer the anesthesia it felt like everyone was rushing. They kept talking about how many more appointments were left and clearly couldn't wait to be off. Not great for my anxiety to start. I mentioned to the consult specialist about my family history of addiction and she walked me through what i'd be given. Clearly I was shocked when the nurses say that they're injecting fentanyl and ketamine (2 drugs the consult never mentioned) and then Dr. Qaqish says "it might burn where the sun don't shine" to refer to the sensation the drugs create around the vulva. DISGUSTING. Procedure went fine but I had let everyone know I wanted to keep my wisdom teeth, shocker they threw them away. Fast forward 6 months later and I get another bill even though I was told that I had paid everything in full. This place is atrocious. avoid if you can. The one star is strictly for the cleanliness of the facility, i'll give them that.

I was referred to Dr. Evans specifically because he is a biological dentist who specializes in ceramic implants. I scheduled my appointment about a month in advance. Before my visit, I proactively sent my existing 3D scan to the office via file transfer so I wouldn't need to be re-exposed to X-rays. I called to confirm receipt -- and they confirmed they had it. When I arrived for my 2:00 PM appointment, the front desk told me I would need a new 3D scan. I explained I had already sent mine over. They acted as if they had no record of it -- until they suddenly confirmed they did have it. Fifteen minutes later, they reversed again, claiming they couldn't open the files. I knew this wasn't a file issue, since every other office I'd sent the same files to had opened them without any problem. Eventually a second staff member was brought over, and after another 15 minutes, the files were opened. After more waiting, a staff member came to take me back -- straight to the X-ray machine -- and asked me to remove my earrings for a 3D scan. When I questioned it, she left, returned, and confirmed they did have my scan. I was sent back to the lobby. I was then brought to another room where staff asked me the exact same intake questions that no fewer than five different people had already asked me. It was now 2:45 PM, and I had not yet seen the doctor. They also made sure to charge me for the appointment before any services were rendered. At 2:55 PM -- nearly an hour after my appointment time -- I informed the front desk I needed to leave to pick up my child at 3:00. Only then did anyone rush to get the doctor. Dr. Evans came in at 2:57 PM, provided no information, answered none of my questions, and concluded the appointment at exactly 3:00. That was a complete waste of my time and money. The office is disorganized, the communication between staff is nonexistent, and there is zero respect for patients' time. You are the paying customer -- and they will make you wait an hour without acknowledgment or apology. I would not recommend this office to anyone.
