After a long time, two were eventually corrected (flashing was done incorrectly in one area and a second area was sided over without applying house wrap). I have water damage in three rooms that Almar left for me to take care of. One room still leaks when it rains and I'm still waiting for Alison or Craig to respond to my last email.

Craig was excellent during the project kickoff phase as well, when my wife and I went back and forth on design details and even had to put the project on the back burner for a few months. He patiently input our ideas into his design software so we could see how the room would look, and explained the myriad tradeoffs between time, money and design in a way that made perfect sense and made it easy to make the right decisions for our family and budget. Once the project started, Mark and Ed kept us informed in person and via email, and were very friendly, personable and helpful onsite presences. Ed especially went the extra mile, doing jobsite cleanup at the end of the day -- something that wasn't strictly required -- as well as some small safety touches I would never have thought of to make sure that our curious 5-year old didn't have any chance of hurting himself if he "accidentally" wandered into the area. The rest of the Almar crew was similarly good, and even the electrical, roofing, & insulation subcontractors were top notch. I would use Almar again in an instant, and I have a coworker also using Almar for a project having a similarly good experience. Let them bid your project; you won't be disappointed.

We were a bit surprised by the BY APPOINTMENT sign on the front door but we went inside and the kind woman at the first desk showed us to the faucets. There are NO prices anywhere or dimensions, etc. so we asked for them. Then Danielle took over. She was very knowledgeable and said she would email us all the information on the ones we liked that afternoon. She also told us most items were IN STOCK, which was great news. Well....to my surprise we never received the promised email so we ended up ordering online through Home Depot and found out later thru the parts department at S&J their price for the same faucet was $125 higher!!! I felt that if we were a couple looking to redo an entire bathroom and kitchen we would have been given that quote on the spot. Also, please note we were the only people in the showroom with three employees sitting at desks. This experience didn't sit well with me and I will never go there again or recommend them.

I asked if I could get a few minutes before they did to talk about shower systems. The answer NO. I was told If I wanted to get help immediately, maybe S&J were not a good fit and I was basically dismissed. So If you want to be treated like a POS. S&J is for you. If not, I recommend checking elsewhere. Now, reading the reviews, it looks like they know this long existing complaint and have done nothing to improve it, so expect the same.

The only saving grace has been the patience, knowledge and skill of the installer Brian! At least the kitchen will look beautiful...when and if it is ever completed! ***update as of 10/27/10 UGH! It just keeps getting worse! Today we received the "custom ordered" hood valance that we have been anxiously awaiting only to discover that the finish does not match the rest of the cabinets -it is useless! To make matters worse we still do not have enough crown molding for our installer to finish the job! We have had enough!! We officially filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau! ***update as of 11/1/10 We have received a refund for the hood valance!!! Hopefully the owner of the company is coming to her senses and will be supplying the installer with enough crown molding to finish the job..one can only hope!

One of the homes I am getting ready to market is in perfect perfect condition, so neat and clean and tidy with one exception - the main bathroom servicing the three bedrooms outside of the mastersuite has seen it's day, it is old and tired, the tub is a bit discolored - yep in this perfect house. We all know how buyers are- people who influence them will tell them it's going to be $20,000 to replace this bathroom...but I happened to be driving by Kitchens on the Fly when I was leaving another one of my listings on Canoe Club in Pembroke and I saw this sign that said Complete 8x5 bathroom $7,999.00! I turned my car around and headed right in to to see Michelle to find out the details. Wow, it is true for less than $8,000 my client could have a new tub or shower with glass doors, tiling, Kohler fixtures too for toilet, tub, faucets and shower head, new vanity, even an exhaust fan with light and two decorative wall sconces. I called my Client with the outdated bathroom immediately from my cell in the showroom and Michelle was kind enough to schedule an appointment tomorrow Sunday even though they are not usually open on Sundays and my buyer will be capturing this all on this Massachusetts Tax Holiday Weekend too! Michelle explained to my Client what is included for the $7,999 (tax and installation excluded from pricing)...set their appointment and I am sure this new bathroom will be a great selling feature of this home coming to the market on the South Shore shortly!
