You can take the true measure of an establishment by how they treat you when you arrive right at closing. We arrived about ten minutes before the end of lunch service. We were greeted graciously and seated. My husband and I both ordered the fried chicken breast with collards and another side. Our food arrived promptly and was freshly prepared, hot, and delicious! Usually my 19 year old son whoofs down his food without even a breathe in between bites. Not tonight! From the first bite of his Ribeye, he raved about how delicious it was, tender, juicy, and so flavorful. He even sent the waitress back to tell the Chef that he loved the steak! I was not impressed with the dinner my significant other and I received. I got the salmon, roasted veggies, and sweet potato soufflé. SO had the prime rib and mashed potatoes. The only things that we're OK were the prime rib and sweet potatoes. Every thing else was bland and tasteless. Basically, I wasted $40. Had the special, which today was roast chicken. My two sides were green beans and macaroni and cheese. The food came out in what seemed about a minute - very fast lunch service if you are pressed for time. My waitress kept my tea full and was otherwise very solicitous. My meal was delicious but I must say that if you like macaroni and cheese, you have to try Hubbard's - it's the cheesiest I've ever had and it tasted so good I saved it as my last bite. If you order the lunch special you could easily be back at work in an hour with time to spare. Will definitely come back. read more

We have loved eating at Hubbards every time we make the trip after work. The staff is always sweet and attentive, and we loved the one time there was a guitarist/singer in the old room. They always have a great selection of food (try the Cajun Popcorn if they have it!) and drinks. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner and reception at Hubbard's and it was amazing! Charlotte, the owner, is the sweetest and most gracious person and she has certainly created a gem for Oxford and Calhoun County. My entire family LOVES Hubbard's! The Chef is a great guy and the food he cooks is even better! I love burgers and Hubbard's definitely have the best around. They also have a variety of entrees that will never disappoint. As for events or a venue, Charlotte will be more than happy to have you and help you with anything! Charlotte and her crew were so amazing and helpful throughout our entire wedding. Have eaten here before, and it was great. Tonight was truly an off night. Girlfriends burger was okay, but they forgot the cheese. I ordered the crawfish etouffe. The rice in the etouffe was old and hard, and the etouffe was cold and had congealed. The waitress was very attentive, until the food came. She then ignored us until girlfriend started stacking empty plates. Waitress brought the check, took the card for payment, returned it, and walked away. No "How was everything?" or "Come again.", just nothing. This review reflects this particular experience only, as the previous two meals were great. I didn't even realize Oxford had a small downtown area. Hubbards is a very charming little restaurant, with a great atmosphere, live music, and fantastic food. The place wasn't overly crowded (which I didn't understand, but it was great to walk right in and get a table.) The staff was very friendly, but the food was the real medal winner of the night. I had the seared ahi tuna for an appetizer and the shrimp and grits for dinner. Delicious! The musician reminded me of Phoebe Buffay for some odd reason, but accompanied with a glass of Pinot Grigio, he turned out to be very entertaining. I will definitely be going back. Hubbards beats out the chain restaurant competition, which has saturated Oxford over the past few years, ten to one. read more

This is my favorite in the area for lunch or dinner. The staff and owner take great pride in making you feel special in a great old town atmosphere. They offer great beer, wine and coffee. The food is Americana at its best, from incredible burgers served with the most wonderful mac & cheese you have ever tasted. If your not into burgers like me, Chief Tyler is fast becoming a Master in the kitchen with a small delightful menu that keeps me coming back for more. His 12oz Ribeye is hand cut and delicious every time. If your into chicken I highly recommend the Low Country Chicken w/cream sauce. Finally, both catfish selections topped with HOM special Cajun sauce are to die for, you can't go wrong with the Bayou Catfish stuffed with seafood, it may be the best dish in the house, but I prefer the Catfish Lafayette. It's grilled and topped with HOM Cajun sauce. Yes I'm a regular at HOM, and whether you're local or just passing through you will not be disappointed if you give this classy little restaurant a try. read more

Was sorely disappointed. Waited an hour for food during lunch hours on a Saturday where the hamburger was burnt and my boyfriend's po boy was overseasoned. Fries were not of fresh cut but frozen. Understaffed. The host/waiter did a good job considering. There location looks unfinished. read more

This is a case of small issues growing into larger ones quickly. I went there about a week ago with a work colleague for dinner. I had the stuffed chicken with sweet mashed potatoes and my coworker had the fish special. Hands down the food was amazing! The kitchen crew are quite the talent of this area! That being said, our night quickly went downhill from there. I advised our server that we needed to be in and out relatively quickly and he obliged us that that would be no problem at all. However when the time came for us to leave, it took absolutely forever to get our check to the point that we left cash instead. The extremely odd part was that I noticed that the restaurant only has one register which apparently is operated by the bartender and no one else; along with handwritten tickets, which might be adding to the wait. I also noticed that customers who ordered cokes had them delivered in the 20oz bottle form instead of a fountain style. Another point was that on the way to the bathroom, which by the way is a little on the nasty side with no ventilation literally a plywood's distance away from the bar and eating area, I witnessed the bartender barking at a server in plain sight and earshot of the patrons in the bar. Extremely unprofessional. All in all the amazing culinary treats could not overcome the plethora of problems with the logistics with the waitstaff and management part of the restaurant. I love the atmosphere at hubbards! I have only been for lunch, but it is never too crowded or too empty. The service is always top notch. I have tried several salads and the tuna appetizer. Everything was excellent and fresh. I knocked off one star for consistency. I have had the Greek salad and the Oxfordian several times each. It is never the same. The Oxfordian comes with seasonal berries, so I am aware that the berries will change. However, sometimes it has cheese, onions, nuts, etc. I like it fully loaded so it is a disappointment when it doesn't come with everything. The waitress has always been accommodating when I ask her for the additions. Same with the Greek salad- sometimes two types of olives, banana peppers, onions, feta, tomato, artichokes and sometimes only a couple of those toppings. I also tried the Cobb salad before they took it off the menu. It was also excellent, but was different each time I ordered it. My only other wish is that they would rotate the weekly specials. I always end up there on the same day each week and would love to try some of the other daily specials! Definitely one of the best in Anniston, and I can't wait to try dinner here! read more
