Absolutely amazing! Came here for a corporate dinner & could not have been more pleased. They graciously created a buffet meal for our group that consisted of hamburger steak, low country chicken and the most amazing shrimp and grits, mashed potatoes, green beans and BLT salad. Dessert was a decadent chocolate dessert and a lemon pound cake with peaches and homemade whipped cream. Truly an enjoyable evening with great company, wonderful atmosphere and outstanding food. Had an Easter dinner with my mom here tonight. The ambiance was perfect. The music was just the right tone not too loud. Dinner by candle light with rustic decor. The staff was so friendly, our waitress, Mary Beth, couldn't have been any nicer, our glasses stayed full. Now to the best part... the food. To start the house salad was so light and delicious, you could taste every flavor. I ordered the ribeye (rare) with the Brussels and the haricots verts. The Brussels were sautéed and tossed with bacon and were just the right amount of crunchy. The French green beans were full of flavor and the right texture. For the main feature... my ribeye was cooked perfect with a cool center, perfect blend of seasoning and delicious marbling. I could not have asked for a better place to spend this evening with my mom. My only surprise was that there was not more people! read more

Just stopped here on my drive home from Dallas to Atlanta. What a treat! The place is beautiful, friendly and attentive service and the food was fantastic! Everything had fantastic flavor, the portions were perfect without being too much or too little and the prices are awesome. It's nice to see a menu that doesnt go overboard by adding too much or going over the top. You can tell the chef thought out the menu and plates to be concise with a focus on doing classic foods really well... nothing more and nothing less. We loved it so much the first time that we brought friends here when we were back in the area...(travelling from Texas to Georgia). We all chose the Country Plate, but with different choices. The catfish, meatloaf and hamburger steak with onions were all delicious. We also had brussel sprouts, collard greens, sugar snap peas, mashed potatoes and the BLT salad. This restaurant is a GEM. We were visiting and found it on YELP because of ratings and we went for it. The food was phenomenal and the owner was so sweet and attentive. This place is great. Locally owned and operated with fresh food lovingly prepared to please. Steaks are the best you'll find, their Cajun inspired dishes are as good as you'll find north of the bayou, their salads thoughtfully prepared with the best ingredients. We have been getting lunch here a lot during the whole Covid19 outrage. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff is super nice. The only reason I gave it the rating I did is because they are still charging a 18% gratuity on takeout orders (I understood when they were shut down and bringing it to your vehicle) but now I feel like we should be given the opportunity to leave a tip if we wanted and then when you go to pay they keep the change. Every time!! They have told me before that all they had was pennies so I told them the could keep it that day but even now I have noticed every time we pick up they never give the change part back. That adds up. I probably wouldn't have even thought twice about it but they are already getting 18% gratuity I feel like that is enough!! read more

I am in love with this place! The food is great and worth the slight wait. I went with a co-worker to lunch, and had the Low Country Chicken and she had the Catfish fillets. Sooooo good! The grilled chicken breast topped with a sauce if corn tomatoes and bacon is delicious! The cherry tomatoes, the owner said, were freshly picked from their garden, but when they're not available, the dish is served with diced tomatoes in the sauce. The greens and fried okra are delicious! The cornbread, served hit when your drinks are delivered is so tasty! First off let me say the food was delicious. I had the catfish and it was really good. Having said that, the service left something to be improved upon. It took us over 2 hours to be served our food and when they started serving, they served one person at our table and the rest of us waited 20 more minutes before being served. That person was embarrassed to eat in front of the other 8 people in our party. Also, they need an exhaust fan installed in the kitchen. Fumes from the kitchen burned our eyes and was so strong you could hardly breathe. This place has such a nice ambience and the music was so great and the food so good they should have had people knocking down the doors to get in. Instead there were only 5 tables where people were seated. With a change in service and having an exhaust fan in the kitchen, I would go back, but until then I will find somewhere else to eat. read more

We evacuated from Florida to Oxford during Irma. We were told by a few people that we needed to try Hubbard's so we did. It looked cute from the outside but inside was odd. It was a large space with a lot of empty floor space that could have accommodated more seating. Most of the tables sat large parties. This only bothered us because the person who sat us was obviously annoyed that we were only 2 people and we did not have a reservation. As the evening went on we noticed they never did use all of the available seating, so why be annoyed that you had to walk-ins? We started with drinks, had an appetizer, dinner and desert. My Margareta tasted like it was made with saltwater. It was completely undrinkable. The server nor the manager, or anyone noticed I had not touching my drink. It sat, basically untouched when we paid and left. When we ordered desert, our dinner plates were not taken away. When the desert orders came, our diner plates where in the way and the server was forced to try and shove everything on a tiny little table, finally it hit her, take the dirty dishes away! This was about as poor service and attention to the customer as you can get. We were underwhelmed by the food too. I am from that area and was looking forward to some good home cooking, but that is not what we got. We were so extremely disappointed with every aspect of our evening. It is hard for me to write this critically of a home owned restaurant but we truly had nothing good to say. read more

We had an excellent dinner there. We started with shrimp and grits, which actually features polenta in the place of the traditional grits. It was spicy and creamy and delicious. Next was a sampler plate that had chicken salad, chipotle chicken salad and pimento cheese. Everything was freshly made and incredibly flavorful. The entrees at our table were a black and bleu burger, stuffed chicken, a Cuban sandwich, and the evening's special sockeye salmon. Everything was very good and prepared perfectly. Friday night & our first time at HOM! Half way point to meet my daughter & family. It's a beautiful place. My daughter was excited to share it with us. They had eaten there previously & had a great experience. We were early & it wasn't busy at all. It took quite a while for our food to come. It was good BUT would have been great, if it had been hot!! Our waitress never came back to check on us or even to give us a bill. We had to go to the counter & ask for it & then to pay for it. My wife and I were seated immediately but wait 20 minutes until our order was taken and over an hour passed before our plates were brought out. When the food finally did come we had both only received one refill of our beverages, and that is because we had to ask. We never once got asked if we needed anything, or got service. and my philly cheese steak was room temperature.
