UGH - I hate to do this Hub's, but I'm breaking up with you. This used to be my favorite and my go-to for their lunch specials and gyros dinner - however, on the last few visits when I was in town, the lack of quality control and the portions you received either for dine-in or carry-out has just been unacceptable. You may be lucky if you even get 3-4 slices of gyros. Years ago, the amount of gyros were piled up a mile high - nowadays, they're just dried out, or they have the audacity to just give you the end scraps. One time, our order had gyros that were literally chopped up like diced onions - um, what?! The rice pilaf, which I loved as a side, always seem to have some undercooked rice and never piping hot - it's either cold or lukewarm. The price you pay for what you receive just doesn't match, and it's just super disappointing. The staff are friendly, and there's parking available in their private lot. Spillovers can park in the residential streets. No dice, Hub's. +lack of quality control +non-existent, dried-out gyros +lukewarm pilaf

Gyro with all the trimmings. Absolutely fire!!

What more can you say about Hubs! It's a phenomenal Greek restaurant and been in Skokie for decades!! if you are in the area, you must go at least once and either get the full slab of ribs or Gyro plate!!! the food is always amazing and the service is fast and friendly!!!!!! Grade given: B+

Driving by and found this Gem. I truly love supporting a family owned business cause I know they poor their heart into their food and hospitality. The owner and son were present and extremely friendly and attentive. I ordered the gyro with a side of fries and a Pepsi. I will say the portion size is pretty big. The restaurant is clean and cozy. Thank you guys definitely have gained a loyal customer.

I used to come here years and years ago as a kid this is an embarrassment $19 for a year requested extra meat?

Hub's has been around forever, and I know that I definitely went there as a kid, though I don't actually remember eating there the way I remember other spots along the Dempster corridor. And maybe there's a reason for that. The food, for me at least, is really unremarkable. Very inexpensive, but unremarkable. I ordered a burger, fries, and a side of mushrooms, thinking they would be sautéed mushrooms. To my horror, the mushrooms came out and they were breaded and fried (and in my opinion, tasted awful). So definitely avoid that side of mushrooms unless you like fried mushrooms. The burger was meh. The fries were meh. The mushrooms left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall impression--I probably ordered all wrong!

Sooo disappointed in Hubs Skokie! Placed an order for a 1/2 chicken BBQ w Greek potatoes and recieved a 1/2 chicken Greek chicken w baked potato. Called spoke to manager on duty who I know was Bill, the son of the owner. I've bought Hubs for over 25 years and have never been met with such unprofessionalism in requesting a mistake be corrected. They want me to bring the "product" back all the way to Skokie. Even after I explained I live in Waukegan and offered to text a picture of the mix up. After years of business it's sad to see that client relationships and retaining them at the cost of a $20 order doesn't matter like it used to.

I am traveling with my two kids (2 years old and 10 months old) and we took them - and I have to say everyone was very kind and accommodating, even when my youngest became very vocal. I can say with certainty that this was my kids' first table cloth experience, so I'm grateful for the hospitality! The food was great. I am the type of person who loves small plates, so that's all I ordered: tirokafteri, horiatiki, Greek potatoes, Briami...plus I filled up on their bread (the olive oil on the tables is so good) and my sister gave me her revithiosoupa (chickpea soup), which I have to say was surprisingly good. It looked underwhelming, but was full of flavor. I was impressed with what I ate and would love to go back without small children someday :) I didn't get to talk to anyone in Greek, which always makes me a little sad, but maybe .

I called in and ordered a gyros combo over the phone and the employee was like "okay a number ten, anything else?" I replied no and was at the restaurant in 10 minutes. I get there and the menu says the # 10 is a chicken breast sandwich ‍. So I go to the cashier and make sure theyre making a gyros, which they werent. But the kids were really chill about it and started to make the gyros instantly when they realized thats what I wanted. A greek gyro is unlike any other. Thin strips, perfectly placed into the pita. Sauce was over all the strips not just the top. Fries looked to be the frozen kind(still fried perfectly tho) but they complemented the sandwich just right. All in all, great place and the restaurant itself was SUPER clean. I would just recommend not to repeat the combo # to customer to confirm what they want since some people may not know the difference between a #1 and a #10. Either way I recommend.

Now I have eaten at a lot of Mediteranean restaurants over the years & just like every other food type there are some great place, good places & mediocre places. Larsa's definitely rates in the great range. Their food is delicious. In the past people, myself included used Pita Inn as a benchmark, but that's mainly because in the beginning there wasn't much to compare to. I have been trying different Mediteranean restaurants and Larsa's left PI in the rear view mirror. You can't even begin to compare the food at Larsa's to the former as the ingredients and flavors are far superior. Sure the cost is a little more, but there is absolutely no comparison as Larsa's food is far superior everything is made individually and not an assembly line production We started with a cup of lentil soup. I was like a starving animal savoring every bit of that soup. I should have gotten a bowl as it was delicious. Our server Nadia also brought out a regular serving of the jalapeño & cilantro hummus served w/warm thin pita bread. OMG this was like heaven. My sister mentioned that she could make a meal out just the hummus and the pita and I agree. Next we had the Fatoush Salad this has crispy pita crust, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, green peppers w/a dressing with olive oil, lemon & sumac. This was just ok, but I liked the crispy pita bread it added a nice crunch. We split a combo platter as the portion size is very generous. This dish comes w/chicken kabobs, beef kifta, beef shawarma, red onions, tomatoes slices & basmati long grain rice. The kifta & chicken kabobs were both very tasty, it they were a little dry. The beef shawarma was cooked & seasoned perfectly as the pieces just melted in my mouth. Every once in awhile our server Nadia came by and was very helpful in telling us about dishes we had questions about. She was super cool and friendly. There was another server that was also very helpful, but we didn't catch her name. Sometimes you go to a restaurant that everyone raves about and you think ehhh what the big deal, but this isn't the case w/Larsa's. I will definitely be back again. Thanks for the heads up Yelpies you picked a winner.

Than I read something on instagram that they serve the best gyros, I just had to swing by. I ordered their Gyros Dinner Plate and their Pork Chops Dnner Plate. I also got their Kefte Dinner Plate for my son Alex. Alex said his kefte plate was good. I, on the other hand, found my touted Gyros plate, kinda "meh". The meat was kinda bland, although those humongous greek potato wedges were awesome! I bought the pork chops for din-din with my wife later that night. Unfortunately, the chops were tough and chewy! I know it's tough to cook pork chops, but, they're a restaurant. You'd think they'd know how to cook pork chops the right way. So, in conclusion, it was a big letdown for me on this new find. I'd have to say that their servings are quite abundant, but It terribly lacks in taste and texture, and I don't think quantity equals quality here.

This building looks like it possibly used to be an old 90s/00s KFC or Pizza Hut or something, but it's cozy and clean and we love an easy access parking lot. The menus are expansive and you order at the counter when you walk in. There are plenty of tables for dining in, and a few were taken while we were there. There was a steady stream of phone orders coming in for pick up, and the restaurant was busy overall. We were helped right away and the staff at the counter were so friendly. I ordered a Maxwell street sausage as a meal ($5 additional for a drink and fries) and my partner ordered the American Gyro sandwich and also as a meal. We grabbed a table and our drinks from the fountain machine and only waited a few minutes for the number on our receipt to be called with our order. The food here is so fresh and delicious. This is one of the best Maxwell street sausages I've had around, the bread was perfect and soft inside and crispy on the outside with the sausage split and grilled and perfectly sweet caramelized onions. The fries looked like they came in frozen/pre-cut but were fried up perfect and a generous portion. The Gyro came stacked with meat, it wasn't dry, and had great flavor. Because the food was so delicious I decided to grab a piece of baklava to go, which I was assured was homemade and delicious - and they were right. So sweet, fresh, textured, rich, luxurious. Don't skip the baklava when you stop by! This is definitely a spot that will be added to our regular rotation of lunch/dinner spots around town.
