I've lived in Chicago my entire life. Worked in Skokie for years and have plenty family there. Which is why I'm sad to say this is my first time here. I called in and ordered a gyros combo over the phone and the employee was like "okay a number ten, anything else?" I replied no and was at the restaurant in 10 minutes. I get there and the menu says the # 10 is a chicken breast sandwich ‍. So I go to the cashier and make sure theyre making a gyros, which they werent. But the kids were really chill about it and started to make the gyros instantly when they realized thats what I wanted. A greek gyro is unlike any other. Thin strips, perfectly placed into the pita. Sauce was over all the strips not just the top. Fries looked to be the frozen kind(still fried perfectly tho) but they complemented the sandwich just right. All in all, great place and the restaurant itself was SUPER clean. I would just recommend not to repeat the combo # to customer to confirm what they want since some people may not know the difference between a #1 and a #10. Either way I recommend. read more

I haven't been to the restaurant itself, but a holiday party I went to this week had Grecian Kitchen provide the food. Overall, it was good. The bread for the veggie wrap sandwich was fantastic. The Greek salad was also great -- loved the peppers, olives, and huge blocks of feta. The sandwiches were more oily than I'd prefer, but it was tasty overall. read more

Came here for a quick lunch. My boyfriend adores their chicken gyro with a special sauce and I was in the mood for a good old regular gyro. Service is very quick and employees are very friendly. On top of it, the place is super clean. My gyro came and it was fine, the fries were absolutely fantastic. I wish my sandwich is more hot in temperature. In spite of having 'Grecian Kitchen' booked from some time ago, I was re-introduced to it by Lauren G, a yelper I follow out of the Chicago area who recently reviewed it. From there, I just could not help but explore the menu for anything that would capture my interest as a vegetarian. Grecian Kitchen sits along Dempster St nearby Pita Inn Market, Dunkin', and a Burger King that I admit I have visited a handful of times in the past. The parking lot is private and there are plenty of parking spots available. I was acknowledged shortly after I walked in and up to the counter to look at the menu. It always takes me some time to look through the menu, especially when I am unfamiliar with the restaurant. I ended up ordering a veggie burger, with french fries and a drink because it was one of the few items that caught my interest, other than the grilled cheese. Service: 4 (Good) I opted out of dining in the restaurant and choosing to take my order to go! There is nothing wrong with the atmosphere of Grecian Kitchen, I just was not feeling in the mood to dine-in. Moreover, the restaurant appeared clean, and the atmosphere gave off a calm vibe amidst it being lunchtime. And there are a number of tables and seats available inside of the dining area, plus two televisions plastered on the wall for viewing pleasure as you eat or wait for your order. Atmosphere: 5 (Great) I could not resist eating the veggie burger inside of my vehicle after just taking a peek at it. Each bite was surely enjoyed as mayonnaise and mustard dripped from it. And those fries, Ooouuu, they looked so amazing! They were fresh and crispy but could have used less seasoning. Came across the place when I was craving a gyro. The have a nice free parking lot and outdoor seating. I didn't sit outside because it was really windy. I placed my order and was given a buzzer device so I know when my food was ready. When the buzzer went off, I grabbed my order and sat down to buzzsaw through the gyro. The gyro was well made and had plenty of tzatziki sauce, I always order an extra side because most places give you a dollop. The pita was warm and pillowy. Plenty of meat, big slices of tomato and onion all made this a very filling dinner. I jus wish the onions had more bite. No mints or gum was needed after eating. Food is awesome, the fries are to die for, and to watch them work... they're like a machine. My kid works there and they've taught him some very valuable life lessons, honed his work ethic, preparing him to be a very productive member of society. The way they treat their employees is actually like family (they do thankfully correct my son on his minuses and praise him on his pluses). I always overlooked this place when I was younger and I don't know why. The food is top notch- (and I'm a food snob). Their prices are fair, but cheap when you taste their food. I've also been there ordering food seeing some of the worst customers ever, changing their orders and acting as though they ordered their second thought in the first place, and they were calm, changed the order several times, and made the customer happy. I really don't know how they do it. Nerves of steel I guess. And for those of you complaining about people not speaking proper English? Very good food all around. One of the few places that still serve dolmas, and they are very good. Try the ribs, the meat falls right off the bone and the 1/2 chicken is a winner as are the wraps. Grecian Kitchen is a smaller, cozier alternative to Hub's and Dengeo's, serving similar things like gyros, burgers, ribs, salads, etc. They have a nice variety of side dishes and always have a burger special and delicious varieties of milk shakes! You order at the counter then can dine in or carry out. They have delivery too, although we've never used it. I believe it's family owned, and I've seen the same hard working lady in the kitchen preparing the orders for YEARS! I mean years. Like 15 or more. She always greets me with a smile and great customer service. The counter help is always pleasant as well. My daughter likes their turkey burgers. I like their salads. My husband likes several things! It's definitely in our rotation when we want to dine out, locally, and at reasonable cost. It's good stuff! read more

Ribs are meaty and delicious. Not very busy even at 5:30 on a Sunday which is odd. Chicken Caesar salad was delicious. Pitas are softer than Hubs and tastier. The food is actually good, if they get your order right. It really doesn't matter what you order if you ask for something specific like medium well you'll be lucky if you get it. Last night for instance I ordered a Burger simple, Bacon ketchup pickle only onion on the side, medium well.. I got exactly that except it was extremely rare. How does that happen? We used to come to this restaurant all the time when I was younger, faithfully actually at least once or twice a month. Now I come maybe once or twice a year because the quality declined. For some reason this month I've been craving this restaurant so me and my family have ordered for them three times this month. Every time I've ordered the green potatoes they've been super dry. I've had to go back and get something at home or just have them dry. It's very unsatisfying, especially when you're looking for that Greek authentic taste and feel. When I talk to the host and the chef about it, they said on the side and there should be some in the bag when I looked in the bag there was none in the bag or on the side. After leaving the gym today I drove down Dempster Ave heading east and I found Grecian Kitchen just east of Crawford Ave. It was lunch time and as I was parking 3 RCN service vans were parking. While waiting 3 Comcast service vans & an ABT delivery truck also parked. Hmmmm you think they know something that I don't know. As it turns out they have a nice selection of menu items. Some heathy options and some not so heathy options for reasonable prices. They have a very good rotisserie chicken which I ended up ordering 1/2 a Grecian chicken for $8.25 that was cooked on a rotisserie that came with 2 sides. The chicken was seasoned good and had a nice crispness to the skin. As my sides I chose the rice pilaf which was pretty good & Grecian green beans (not so good). They were canned YUK. I absolutely hate canned green beans and canned peas. Generous portions, not too expensive and pretty good food. Overall it's a nice restaurant with a polite helpful staff. I really like this place because they have healthy options at an affordable price. I'm trying to eat healthier (keyword- trying) and Grecian Kitchen has really delicious half-chicken options. It comes with two sides (I usually get the corn on the cob and a potato option). The corn on the cob is bomb! It's buttery and delightful! The only bad thing to say is that it's a smaller portion. Their chicken is decent. I've had no complaints but it's not chicken that I crave. For the price, protein, and with the dressing- It's decent. I've also had their tortilla salad which is essentially salad with lettuce, chicken, corn and tortilla chips (with a twist). I'm not a big fan of it but I did enjoy the crunch and color of the tortilla chips. What I really love from Grecian Kitchen would be their shakes! They have several different flavors and they are all very yummy. I recently had the butterfinger shake and it was amazing. I will definitely return for that shake. Maybe I'll buy some healthy chicken to balance it out as well. Service is quick and friendly. There's a small lot right next to the restaurant (but it's not the easiest tor access if you are going eastbound towards McCormick Blvd. and trying to turn into the lot). read more
