We've been coming to Jason BBQ regularly for as long as we have lived in Park Ridge and that's now going on 12 years.  Note though that the Chinese BBQ stand has changed names and before 2021 it was previously known as Mei Mei BBQ.  This little BBQ stand is tucked away in a front corner of Richwell Market and has always offered a convenient, reasonably priced, and good quality alternative to trekking either over to Argyle Chinatown or to the main Chinatown.   I guess I never reviewed this particular business as I had long considered it just a part of Richwell Market, but it's its own business and most certainly deserves its own reviews and ratings. We've always enjoyed the tip-top delicious chicken, pork, and duck products from here.  Mrs. Tam is the youngish lady owner here, and don't fret, her English is quite good too!  They make their products right downstairs in the basement, and you might see a fresh batch of whatever being brought up.   Their prices naturally won't be quite as cheap as in a Chinatown, but the difference is very reasonable and you can consider it a convenience charge for not having to commute into the city.  Thumbs up and that thumb has been up going on 12 years+ now!

Probably one of the best Chinese BBQ, even better than the ones in Arygle. They have lunch specials, wonton noodle soups, and congee.

During the first year of the pandemic, we used a delivery service from Chinatown for Chinese groceries and BBQ food. Then the service closed as the owner wanted to focused on wholesale service. I am glad that my sisters recommended Jason BBQ which is located inside Richwell Market in Morton Grove, that we don't need to go all the way to Chinatown to get our BBQ food. I have been purchasing from Jason BBQ for over two years now. Jason BBQ's owner is a young lady, Mrs. Tam, whom I called "Kit Mui", meaning little sister Kit. She is super friendly and accommodating. She is very hard working and you can always see her working as a cashier and preparing food, such as scooping beef stew in boxes. Mr. Hui is the meat cutter, who is very friendly as well. Our favorites are Beef Stew, which is sold per box, Salt Baked Cage-Free Chicken, and BBQ Pork (Cha Shui). Their Beef Stew is very flavorful and tender. I always called earlier of the day to order to make sure that our favorites are not sold out. Their Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork, and Soya Chicken are good too.

Great place in the suburbs for delicious Chinese BBQ. The team is super nice and primarily speak Chinese but can help you too if you don't speak Chinese. The BBQ pork is consistently tasty. The roast pork is good sometimes when the skin is crispy. The roast duck is good too. My favorite princess chicken with the ginger/green onion oil is fantastic. The place is the best Chinese BBQ place in the suburbs.

Mei Mei is a great alternative to shops in Broadway/Argyle area and Chinatown. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. They offer many Cantonese BBQ dishes and a variety of lunchboxes. It is located inside of Richwell Market. In addition to a small parking lot, there are plenty of spaces on the side street. Be prepared to get there early on the weekends before they sell out as it is usually very crowded.

Waiting on my twenty year old so I can eat this bbq. It was five but noticed the guy that cuts the meat doesn't wear gloves . Kinda scary. This food I guess is to die for, because I'm still eating it. I also picked up a 15 pound bag of rice and dim sum at the grocery they work out of . The language barrier is null. But they do understand your order . Third time here and it looks like they do a good business. Where's that darn kid of mine? Happy Thursday !! Stay safe and eat well!!

12/19/20 - CORRECTION - Mei Mei BBQ is actually a small takeout food service located inside of Richwell Market. Both of the names are on the sign & on the building

Duck pork combo rice. So good

I've ordered their duck and crispy skin pork with rice. Super tasty and great portions for the price. I especially like that their duck is not overly fatty but it's still really juicy. Same with the pork. I also like that they don't use a whole lot of food coloring. Very natural and I also got the pig stomach cold dish with spicy seasoning. It was delicious with a clean taste. No gaminess. Great hidden gem!

I went here recently as an adult to get the nostalgic feel, and it hit instantly when I walked in... I see the Chinese decor, the zodiac paper under the plates, the koi fish tank, and the smell of authentic Chinese food. Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.
