Stopped in for the first time on a Wednesday after a long day at work. The hostess immediately greeted us and we were told we can sit wherever we like. Even though it was a 75 degree day I was craving soup, so I put in an order for the chicken tortilla soup and a half chicken ceasar salad. My husband ordered the jerk chicken sandwich and the brisket eggrolls. The soup was great, I would absolutely order it again and this will become a soup place for me! We enjoyed every dish that we got. We also ordered some cocktails, a whiskey neat and a spicy margarita. Everything was delicious. Editing my review to remove one star. Upon receiving my bill I noticed that I was charged for a premium tequila (casamigos) in the spicy margarita even though I did not ask for this. My family and I stopped in tonight. I think it was our second time. We had a very attentive and kind server named, Quinn. She was fast and kept her eye on our drink and did all the right things to check on upscale options. Kudos. We had good food, including the brisket and chicken tacos, which were good, but could use a bit more salt possibly for flavor. And I had a brisket sandwich, tender and delicious but I added a little salt for my taste. I enjoyed the vinegar with my fries, a sauce option on the table. And I put bbq mustard on my sandwich with the pickles. I added the vinegar to my slaw as well, and everything was pretty good. My kids enjoyed their cheezburger and chicken strip kids meals as well. It's a friendly neighborhood joint, nothing fancy or pretentious. Had lunch here a few months ago and enjoyed a very good brisket sandwich. The Missus and I finally returned here for dinner over the weekend. Acoustic baffles on the ceiling do little to mitigate the noise level, which was earsplitting. Service was friendly but unpolished. Beginning with setups, we had to request a few items that should have been brought to the table automatically. At 7 PM on a Saturday, the kitchen was already out of brisket and pulled pork. That's okay, we wanted to try their BBQ ribs. From a run-of-the-mill list of beers on draught, they were out of the only beer that piqued my interest, a Sketchbook IPA. Our meal began with wedge salads. At $4.95 for the small version, these were generously sized and the dressing was excellent. Turns out the salads were the best part of our meal. The ribs, dry rub and not fall-off-the-bone (our preference), were no threat to Smoque or Une Année partly because the meat was rather dry. Squirting on BBQ sauce helped. We were not given steak knives and the butter knives shredded the meat. My side of baked beans was fairly standard but my Missus' sweet potato fries were pretty good. Their coleslaw is crunchy but I am not a fan of their sweet creamy dressing. Not to be nitpicky, but our server brought our check without asking if we wanted to order anything else. read more

After reading some reviews, I picked City's Edge for a dinner with an old friend. Here is the rundown of my orders: KAMIKAZE - I was puzzled when it arrived in a martini glass. Sensed my confusion, the waitress offered me a glass of ice. I took a sip... yup, all good. BRISKET EGG ROLL - They were delicious! Succulent brisket wrapped in egg roll wrap and deep-fried. What's not to love? The only issue I had was the price they charge for the size of the egg rolls. BURNT ENDS APPETIZER - My goodness! The meat was fork-tender and seasoned perfectly. It's a shame they don't offer it as an entree. HALF SLAB OF RIBS WITH SWEET POTATO FIRES - The ribs were packed with flavor and finger-licking good. Can I just talk about the sauce a little bit? There were 6 different sauces available on the table: BBQ, spicy BBQ, vinegar, ketchup, mustard, and BBQ mustard. I love the spicy BBQ which had a little kick to it but the BBQ mustard? Oh my. I would drink that from a shot glass! The mood is lively since there is a bar and music. The patrons ranging from young people who want to have a couple of drinks to a family with kids enjoying a meal. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a delightful experience. We've continued to come here regularly, and it's quickly become one of our usual spots to stop in a grab a meal, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I especially love their egg rolls filled with things like beef brisket and, if I time it right and they still have some available, reuben and other fun fillings. This has become one of their house specialties, and they're really good! Their burgers are great, not to big and not to small, and always nicely juicy, and I love that I can get them with slaw or tots (among other choices) as alternates to fries. Their Popcorn Chicken appetizer is good, too. When I have this (as my entrée), I usually pair it with a cup of their Corn Bacon Chowder, which is OUTSTANDING! This soup alone makes it worth the visit, especially on a chilly fall or winter day! I've kind of gotten hooked on some of their seasonal drinks, such that I keep asking for them even when they're off-menu, and they always happily oblige. My family was looking for a new go-to restaurant after a different favorite of ours closed down. I wanted to find a place that had good beer, good cocktails, good food (BBQ, specifically!), good service, and a good vibe. Oh, and good prices, too! It turns out we found ALL of these things at City's Edge! In fact, I'd say it's all great, and not just good. The brisket sandwich is delicious and generous. Their cocktails definitely have alcohol in them. The Guinness is poured perfectly. I think all of these reasons and more are why we've been there 5 or 6 times in the last 6 weeks. I guess another update for this place is on order! This restaurant has surprised me as it has gotten much better over the years. They finally settled on the menu and it's all good! My family's personal favorites are the corn soup, French onion soup, wings, BBQ chips, steak sandwich, and burgers. Not sure about right now, but they run some pretty sweet specials during to week, especially for their burgers and wings. During my visit I know the staff talked to the parents twice. Five stars for Colleen and Shannon. They are great servers and were empathetic to my concerns. End tax deductions for breeders. I have been going there since they opened and have never had a bad meal. Since the pandemic we haven't really gone out much but have been following their FB page. We saw they have started selling Detroit style pizza which we never have tried except from Jetts pizza. We thought we would give it a try. We ordered the sausage for pickup Sunday. Brought it home and ate it while we watched that great Bears game. It was one of the best Pizzas we have ever had. My wife and I grew up in Chicago and had every type of pizza Lous Barnabys Etc. Laid back place with solid food. Pulled pork, brussels sprouts, fries, and brisket tacos all get thumbs up. They serve a pretty big plate of food for a good value. The barbecue platters come with pickles and cole slaw to boot; the tacos come with corn chips, guacamole, and two salsas. I appreciate that they serve corn chowder every day; it's one of my favorite soups but relatively rare. Their version is a bit salty but otherwise tasty, and garnished decadently with two thick half-strips of bacon and a couple of french fries. Both times that I've visited there was only one bartender/server working. On a quiet spring Sunday it was no big deal, but on a busy October Saturday it led to some harried service. Kudos to the lady for getting it all done for about a dozen tables, but the management should have scheduled a second person. It's kid-friendly too, with about five options on the children's menu, for $4.95 or $5.95 each. Their beer list is weak on drafts but includes a lot of bottles and cans. Plus: a small adjacent parking lot, various sports on TV, and either neo-country (barf) or 90s alternative (yes please) tunes spinning overhead (it probably depends on the staff that day). read more

Good food and good sized portions. This food is comfort food! When it's busy it can be hard to move around in the room but once you are seated it's easier than it first appears to get comfortable. If you live in the neighborhood you'll meet high school and college folks serving and cleaning up. This joint serves epic virgin-bloody-Mary drinks, nice at any time of the day. Great bread and potatoes that go well with the substantial main dish. Meat, fish or other proteins, all are delicious. Service is friendly and fast but not hurried. Sometimes the noise in the room is high energy and parents bring their kids for the great food at the early seatings, which adds to the neighborhood vibe. My first experience was this past week, I haven't had time to check them out since they became City's Edge. The previous bar, Moher, I'd been in a bunch of times. Quite a place for awhile there. Their ceiling was custom painted & it was quite a sight too. Picture a Celtic Trinity Knot expanded across a large ceiling with vivid coloring. Beautiful. There's a second beauty when you think of what the trinity stands for. But, with the change of ownership and new bar, the ceiling was painted over and covered with sound dampeners. There is new HVAC venting running across it now. It's definitely different looking. Based on their menu and surroundings, they are trying to suit those seeking a good drink and comfort foods. Not quite a gastro but with a sports pub feel. So about my food. I called in an order for wings. Had hoped for some smoked but they were already sold out. I think it was about 8 pm on a weeknight. They said I could have their regular kind and it comes in an order of 6. There aren't different sizes. If needing more, another order should be placed. They quoted ten minutes and a cost of $9.87, costly for a meager six wings. I was there in less time and home quickly thereafter. The place was loud and busy. An a-frame chalk sign at the front was indicating specials of the night; burgers for a paltry $4.. psshaw, wish I knew about that. The wings were fried frozen. How can I tell? When the meat sticks to the bone. These were overcooked to boot, so the meat was hard and frankly, fucking terrible. The wings themselves were small variety. If not for the carrot and celery sticks I would have still been hungry. I doubt those wings were prepared fresh. For all I know they were sitting under heat lamps the last hour.
