Where to start. Hmmm. Okay. First Brunswick stew I've ever seen that you can eat with a straw. Yup. Blended, orangy liquid. Not even a corn kernel to be found. Uh, the bbq. My wife brought the meat home (20 minutes). Grey, hyper-shredded, uh, goo. I took a forks worth and had a bite. It turned my stomach...Only reason I didn't vomit was I didn't want to insult my wife's effort bringing it home. The bbq sauce was surprisingly good. The cheap white bread was fine. Have eaten here for several years, things have changed. Apparently the mother has taken the restaurant back and cut a lot of corners. No TV, no credit cards, Lot of items off the menu. We got a shrimp salad for for $6.99. They had a half size and a full-size we have always gotten a half size and it was very generous this time the bowl was half-full, truly was a half size. I had to end up ordering a hamburger on top of the salad because I was not filled up. Had been one of my favorite restaurants but things change. read more

Ok, I waited till my third trip to review this place because I kept trying to give them chances after reading the great reviews from other yelpers. Unfortunately, it just did not work out for me. The service was mediocre one time and terrible in trips 2 and 3. Trip one: I had the philly cheese steak sandwich. It was very bland. I also paid a couple of extra dollars (maybe 2.25 I think) for a "large" fry. They brought out about as many fries that you would get in a kids meal at McDonalds. They burned my wife's burger that night that she ordered medium. Trip 2: I was by myself and it was at lunch time on a weekday. I tried the BBQ plate. The BBQ was actually pretty good but it is pre-sauced, so if you do not like the amount of sauce they deem that you should, then you are out of luck. That was the best trip. Service was still poor but at least the food was ok. Trip 3: Absolutely terrible! I talked the wife into giving the place one more try. We both ordered burgers this time. We both told the server that we wanted it medium. Not well, not medium well......MEDIUM!. We were very clear about that. I even mentioned a little pink in the middle. Guess what? They came out well done. Also, another noteworthy thing....neither burger had any seasoning on it. I can tell the burgers have potential, but I tried a bit of my wife's the first time we went and then had the entire burger on trip 3. Very bland. Not to mention they are incapable of following instructions. The service on trip 3 was terrible. It took 40 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our burgers. When they came out, in addition to being way overcooked, the sides were all cold. Some of the worst service I have ever had anywhere and not one apology. Even had to wait at the counter to force them to refill my tea since I had not seen my server in 30 minutes. Bottom line....I tried and even gave it a couple of extra chances, but I won't be back any time soon, if ever again. read more

Friend suggested Huck' for lunch, good choice! Had they half pound burger (they offer a full pound burger, too) and a small order of fries, and sweet tea. Off the main drag, obviously a favorite of the locals. Parking was an issue at lunch. Servers kept the drinks topped off, and the burger was darn tasty. I ate here for the first time two days ago. The burgers are great. Our fries were covered in old oil fried bits though. It was kind of expensive. We got two adult burger/fries and a kids meal (tiny tiny burger on a roll) with no drinks and it was $29. They do charge 3% for credit cards. Tasty food but we won't eat it often and I think they need to change their oil more often. read more

They have reopened since the original owners closed it. It's still the same family that opened it back up I believe. It's just not the same as it used to be. The service is spotty at best. We came in at 5:45 on a Thursday evening and we were the only ones there. There was 4 of us. I got a small stew and a chicken filly. My wife got a hamburger steak, my father in law had a hulk burger and small stew and my mother in law had a hamburger steak. The stew was just ok. It was meaty which I liked but was short on taste. The chicken filly was a big sandwich but lacked lacked good flavor. I think the onions and peppers weren't cooked long enough. The hamburger steaks were great and also the hamburger. The biggest complaint for us was the wait. We waited over 35 minutes for our food and people that came n after us got there food before us. We may come back again but it will be several months before we do and hopefully they will be better organized by then. read more

I wrestled between 2 stars and 3 stars. I settled on 2 stars because it's nothing special. The food is ok but I think it is over priced. It's a local favorite and it's busy at lunch time but I don't really understand why. I had a burger and fries and it wasn't good enough for me to want to visit again. Alright. I decided to give it one more try thinking it couldn't be that bad all the time being that it's been in business a long time. Well...I was wrong. Poor service. Had to get up to for drink refills...twice. I specifically said NOT to cook the burger well done. It was very well done when they brought it. It took 40 mins...yes 40 mins for the food to come out. We ordered one hot dog and 2 burgers and sides. The homemade potato chips and the tator tots were cold. Not one person checked on us, not one person apologized for anything. My husband had to get up and stand at the register to pay b/c no one would bring our check. Terrible management that they allow this kind of service and I'm guessing management is part of the problem. So there it is. Two strikes you're out with me. read more

Huck's Cafe has been around here a long time and continues to be a staple for us locals. This is a roadside hole-in-the-wall joint, but don't let that fool you, Huck's is delicious and there is nothing on the menu that you'll regret ordering. read more

I have a love / hate relationship with this place. Been going for years so obviously they are doing something right. Their food is usually great. The service is usually not. If they are really busy, the food is sometimes burned or cold. I am also more often than not treated as an inconvenience instead of as a paying and appreciated customer. But the food is consistently appetizing enough that I keep going back. Don't go here expecting 5 star customer service. Go here if you are in the mood for some good diner food. read more
