Pick 2- turkey sausage, over medium eggs, grits and wheat bread. Looks large but it was small.

Got in with a group of 14 quickly on a Sunday morning. Server was a little nervous but she got the job done and was pleasant. Food portions are small so if you like to eat you may need to get an app and meal. Got the blueberry sweet cake balls (not sure what the actual name was) and that was a great starter. Crispy on the outside and moist in the center. Not sure why other reviews were talking about the service and maybe the staff has changed since but wait was not long at all and service was good considering the day we came in and the amount of people we had. Hubby and daughter really loved the biscuits and white gravy. I wasn't thrilled with the Turkey sausage so I'm thinking this is a good hearty sort of place where you get the pancakes or waffles and bacon or ham. Oh and the grits were perfectly cooked and coffee was not bitter.

First time here and I am glad we tried it. There was no waiting and the waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. Overall it was a smaller version of an IHOP or Denny's restaurant. The menu was varied and offered many classic meal options. We didn't have long to wait and everything came out at just the right temperature! The only negative is the coffee - too weak for me but when I mentioned it to the waitress she said that most people complain that it's too strong! So I believe it's a personal choice and no fault of the restaurant. I would come again and recommend it to others.

Terrible, was charged $1.89 for milk for my coffee. Service is hit or miss. Dingy. You should think twice about going there.

Although we have never formally dined inside the 1st City Cafe, every time we stay at the Fredonia,…read morewe have wonderful cocktails at the Nine Flags Bar and we order food from the 1st City menu and everything we have ever had was delicious. We really enjoy their pimento cheese, housemade crackers and whipped candied jalepeno dip, the chicharonnes and queso and the great big salads. But oh, the Rebellion Nachos.....I see you sexy nachos over there with all of the hotness.....You simply must sub the Akaushi Tenderloin on the nachos. Thank me later. We normally have cocktails and snacks at the bar and then we order our entrees to take up to the room to enjoy. The service is always top notch here.

I am a guest at the hotel, and unfortunately, the service I experienced in the café and poolside…read morearea on August 21 was extremely disappointing. After helping our daughter move for school, we returned to the hotel exhausted. We had already had an early dinner, so we decided to have a drink and order a light appetizer and dessert poolside. The bar was crowded, and although three different servers came through the pool area, not one stopped at our table to ask whether we needed menus or anything else. We eventually had to flag someone down ourselves. Unfortunately, that interaction seemed to set the tone for the remainder of the evening. The staff we encountered were consistently unwelcoming and inattentive. It gave the impression that they were simply there to complete their shift rather than provide the level of hospitality guests should reasonably expect. The atmosphere was also frustrating. A toddler was repeatedly screaming at the top of her lungs while a musician was performing, and the child's father made no apparent effort to address the situation. While that is not necessarily the hotel's responsibility, the combination of the disruptive environment and poor service made for a particularly unpleasant experience. The situation became even more frustrating when we accidentally left my arm brace on the table as we hurried to finish our nightcap and leave. Within approximately five minutes of realizing it was missing, my husband returned to retrieve it. Since it had been left on the table moments earlier, we expected that the server or another staff member would be able to locate it easily. Instead, he was sent from the bar to the kitchen and then to the front desk. After approximately 15 minutes, he returned without the item. That experience reinforced the impression I had already formed earlier in the day: there appears to be very little communication or coordination among the staff. No one seemed to take ownership of a simple guest-service issue or make an effort to resolve it efficiently. When guests are paying nearly $600 for two nights in a small town such as Nacogdoches, particularly at a property marketed as one of the best accommodations in the area, there is an expectation of professional, attentive hospitality. Guests should feel welcomed, recognized, and valued. Unfortunately, I did not experience that during my stay. The attitude of the waitress who ultimately served us was particularly disappointing and significantly affected the overall experience. Her demeanor was not appropriate for someone working in a customer-service position, much less one at a property presenting itself as a higher-end accommodation. I strongly recommend that management take a closer look at staff training, communication, accountability, and expectations surrounding guest service. Tipping is part of the hospitality industry, and guests should not have to repeatedly seek out employees for basic service. Based on this experience, I will not be staying here again. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve the guest experience for future visitors.

We have eaten a Dolli's several times and it is always busy. This visit was no different. However,…read moreservice was marginal. Several apologies later, we finally got our food. I had the BLT with the optional egg and it was okay, nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Restaurant and toilets were clean and from the sign posted in the men's room, it is highly rated (lol). Nothing like some bathroom humor! We will certainly be back as we are always hopefully that today was an anomaly.

Makes you feel like you're in a Texas country town for sure! My daughter and I were in Nacogdoches for college visit to SFA and we looked this place up in the hopes that we would find something different than a normal chain stop. It certainly is different and was exactly what you might imagine. Everything on the menu is decently priced and it seems that Tuesday is the place to be with short stack specials for $2 along with the weekday breakfast special at $6.95 On of my daughter's favorite meals is chicken fried steak and what better place to try that than a local diner??? Unfortunately it fell below expectations. The portions were quite large, enough that we could have just split a plate. The idea of sausage gravy on top of the mashed potatos and steak sounds heavy but also potentially fantastic. However both the gravy and the fry were quite under seasoned. I was able to fix mine with some cholula sauce and some salt and pepper was a quick fix as well for my daughter. The side of green beans and carrots she got were actually pretty good so perhaps there was just a disconnect in flavor at the meat station this day. I did very much enjoy the side salad I chose instead of the veggie medley. Came with home-made ranch which brought me back to my East Texas family gatherings with the freshly shaken ranch.....it was great. The portion size was pretty fair value at $13. Like I said we could have just split it between us. Very hit or miss flavors leaves this at a 3-stars for me. But no doubt some of the nicest folks in town work here.
