It's day (5) of my east-coast road trip and this is one of my must stop roadside food joints. How anyone could give this place less than 4 stars is beyond me, I don't get it. This is one of my go to places for my foot-long hot dog fix, the other is in Delaware. Can't seem to find too many in Florida, unless you hit a Sonic. This is a seasonal business and open during summer months. Today was Sunday and it had good crowd. Ordering was quick easy however it was still a wait till my order was called, but expected for the amount of people there, tells you something. I got the foot-long with cheese, relish and raw onions...shoe string fries as well. When my order was called I came to the window paid and picked up. Found an empty table to occupy and began my feast. This is the total package when it comes to foot-longs. The rolls used are made locally and I believe the dogs are Dietz and Watsons and done on a flat top, not boiled. Can't get any better than this. Another road-side food shack under my belt. Nice little place to grab a quick meal. Stopped on the way to the beach with some friends. I went with the footlong hot dog, the Bellybuster, then split some fries and my wife had the grilled ham and cheese. Everything was simple in a good way. For the Bellybuster I went with cheese, fried onions, pickles, and tomato. The fries were done just right. Now I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way, but coming nearby and needing a meal, it's worth a stop. read more

So I've heard this a must stop, really it's just a hole in the wall. They offer foot longs hot dogs and have a big menu, I found a hair in my hot dog, so that was gross. I did get a milkshake and that was very good, Hudock's is cash only. read more

This is a classic roadside food and custard stand. Contrary to the July 2020 Yelp report this place IS OPEN. I had a grilled foot-long hot dog with kraut and brown mustard on a great roll (not too soft or hard, good flavor and consistency which is a downfall of most hot dog stands). My wife had a bacon burger which she enjoyed. Afterwards we went over to the separate custard stand and got some excellent cones. This place has been operating with their signature yellow roof since 1949. The quality of the food and reasonable prices explain why it has lasted so long. Outdoor dining is available for a large group of picnic tables in the shade plus a few tables under a roof. As of July 2020 all staff were wearing masks as were patrons until seated. I tried the fish sandwich this time with lettuce and tomato and cheese fries. The fish sandwich was really good. Fried with a bun. All the sides or add ons are additional. I had a hot dog last time and not sure what I'll have next time. I may breakdown and have a burger. The vibe here feels beach like. Cash only. Great system set up for Oder and service. I haven't tried the ice cream across the parking lot yet. I pass by this place way too often for work so I'm sure I'll be back again. Calling in the order is helpful so I can just stop in as I pass by and not have to wait. There is a separate window for pick up. I cannot stress how much I ADORE Hudock's. I was introduced to this place about 6 years ago, and man, what a treat. I crave this place like no other- especially not being local anymore. I moved out to Dallas a few years ago and there is nothing in comparison. I was visiting a couple weeks ago and this was a MUST on my list as they close for the season before I will be home again. I love the home grilled feeling of the food. I have gotten both the bacon cheeseburger and the foot-long hot dog in the past and I am equally satisfied with both.The cheese fries are so outta this world that I refuse to share with others. The food is separate from the custard and shakes (ALL CASH, just a heads up!)- I always seem to get the orange freeze- i cannot help myself. However the maple pecan shake was also heaven. I love the homey feeling and eating outside on the picnic table benches- taking it 'to go' is not the same. Overall, 10 stars! read more

This is one of our favorite places to eat! We discovered it in May of this year and with Covid we will only dine outside. This is perfect because they only have outdoor dining. The shade of the tall trees covers the picnic benches beautifully. The girls running the kitchen do a great job! They are efficient and provide great customer service! Hudock's has been my go-to hot dog stand since I was a kid, and I never miss a chance to go here when I visit my parents in the summer time. It's all so quirky, and not much has changed since the place opened however long ago. Little gravel parking lot, yellow and white buildings, "home of the belly buster", cash only. But the food is great, and its a great place to take the family. We always get the hot dogs, fries, big cup of pickles, a belly buster (a giant burger about the circumference of a plate), and ice cream afterwards :) I usually only come home to NJ for Christmas, so it was a real treat to get to go here a few weeks ago. This place is my childhood. I remember as a kid leaping around on the parking dividers, ice cream running down my forearms in the summer after a baseball game. Watching the biplane take off and fly around in the back. Good times... We moved to DE years ago and my kids still ask to go. It's worth the trip of almost and hour for the memories, but if it was only memories I'd probably not make the trip. THE FOOD and THE PEOPLE is what helped make those memories great. All the food is great but my absolute favorite is The Big Boy with cheese. The burgers have a unique taste that is signature to Hudocks. There is nothing like it. Truly one of a kind. Just like the family who has run this landmark business for decades. I have been coming here since I was a kid 30 years later. I still make a trip from Philly to Hudocks at least once a year. I stick with what i have known and that's the Belly Buster which is a burger literally the size of a paper plate Topped with anything you can think of. Also the Foot-long Hot Dog and the Fries are a must Try! Highly Recommend this place if your homesick or just want a good taste of some Great Food!! Hudock's is a rare side-of-the-road ice cream/ hamburger joint that you can only go to in rural, out of the way communities. In many ways, places like Hudock's are a fond reminder of a past we are too quickly losing. Places that are run by honest folks making honest food. It just feels like a true slice of Americana. Located in the middle of a giant corn field, Hudock's is a walk-up stand. The menu is done magnet style behind the cashier, and there is a gravel stone area to stand while you wait for your food. The most expensive item is their signature Belly Buster. It's a burger the size of a Frisbee, and it cost 6 bucks. Yea, this place is cheapcheapCHEAP. And boy, is it delicious. The patty is thin and salty, the roll dusted with flour and chewy. It just really hits the spot. The rest of the menu is a mix of the eclectic and the predictable. There are the obligatory (and yummy) foot long dogs, fries, pizza steaks and onion rings. Then there's the apple turnovers, corn fritters and broasted chicken. Try one, try em all. Chances are that if you are reading this, you will be going to Hudocks once on a drive through rural Salem County. If that is the case, get a soda, fries and a Belly Buster. I love this place! My father used to come here as a kid and brought me here as soon as I started to eat solid food. The days of eating two giant belly busters are gone. My old standby is the footling dog with chili, fried onions, cheese, bacon and the incredible amount of love put into all the dishes. They add new stuff all the time but I say stick with the foot longs, belly busters and the ice cream stand adjacent. There is only outside seating, picnic tables and Adirondack chairs. The people watching is great, the beauty of Salem counties golden fields in all directions and the people are friendly. The only drawback is the wind and keeping your paper plates held onto. I hate this place, everytime. I don't understand what everyone else sees in it. It's a couple little converted shacks. I always go for ice cream, not food, but as far as a country ice cream stand, it has a less than appealing variety/menu. It also doesn't have that iconic ice cream stand look/feel, like some diners look more "dinery." It feels more like the mexican field worker row home of ice cream places. They have 1,000 things/flavors written on menus obscuring the window, you go to the other window and it's the same exact 1,000 menu items. I think up a combination and get to the window to order and they don't have caramel sauce? Can any custard stand anywhere pass as being good w/ no caramel sauce? Epic fail. Now, not knowing what I'm ordering, I force order something else, due to the line of customers behind me. While they are mid-making my ice cream, I asked if they made upside down banana splits? They said "Yes." Now, not 1 of those 1,000 things, copied verbatim on either window said "upside banana split." I guess copying down 1,001 things was just too much for them. Had they written it on the damn menu, I would've at least had a backup plan. Instead, I forced ordered something I was disgusted by. Can't order it if I can't read it. I think everyones infatuation with this place is based solely on location. It is located just outside of the city of Salem, which can get a little sketchy. I don't think it's the food that is good, it's just that all of their customers feel safe going there. "Well, the ice cream ain't too good, but at least we're safe, right?" The workers have attitude problems, my milkshake was disgusting something clearly was wrong with it I always got a orange sherbet shake and this one wasn't right. I requested a new one and the manager I think the wife of the owner came and defended her coworker stating that they make everything the same and they weren't going to make me another one. A truly satisfying footlong hot dog experience. This has quickly become my favorite place in south Jersey for a hot dog. The dogs and buns stand up on their own without the need for gobs of garnishes. That's the sign of really good quality. Love the way they toast the bun. Makes a perfect bed for the dog. Besides fries (I thought just okay) and corn fritters (very good), I have not tried anything else at this place. I feel I should branch out, but it also says something that a few basics are tough to stray from. Only negative I have with this place is some of the staff. I get that a seasonal roadside stand is going to usually be comprised of younger, maybe more inattentive employees. But hearing staff members argue loudly with each other, or having the older woman who asked what I wanted on the hot dog, and when asked what they had, snapped back that there were something like 75 toppings (which I didn't see listed anywhere) and she wasn't going to list them all, does take something away from what is otherwise a really good and unexpected food find. read more

I have never been here before, but have heard rave reviews as someone local to the county. The parking is a little patchy, I am guessing they have had to add more parking over the years. I had to leave to find an ATM as they are cash only. Our service was friendly and prompt. We order burgers, cheese steaks and cheese fries. My kids loved their burgers and they have great shoestring fries. There wasn't much cheese for the cheese fry order and the kids ate most of the cheese in the first few bites. The cheese steak was ok. They have ample picnic table space with lots of shade trees and umbrellas, but no indoor area. After dinner we headed over to the ice cream stand for dessert. Overall it's a decent little spot to grab a quick summer bite. I am sure we will visit again when we're in the area. read more
