I've been coming to the Swedesboro Diner since High School. And it just keeps getting better. I wasn't sure if the restaurant would be open for Memorial Day, but they were packed. Still, we were able to be seated right away. Our server was amazing. He was quick to take our order and had a great personality! We ordered shortstacks, one regular and one with chocolate chips and strawberries. The fruit was fresh and plentiful! We also ordered a side of ham, and a ham and egg breakfast sandwich. The portions are super generous. Prices are great. And the food is hot and delicious. If you're worried about the parking in the front, there's an entire lot in the back with tons of extra space. I asked for the BbQ burger and she said hold on, left and returned to inform me that the burger special was very close to the menu item I had chosen. I took the special and it was a solid solid diner burger. Fresh and delicious. Kerry got a Patty Melt - great sandwich, could have been "smashed" a little thinner and griddled together a little longer. Guys at the register were jovial and cool. Been here a total of 5 times. First time was ok. Burger was good. Second time- burger had long black hair in it. Waitress said "This happens all the time" Third time- I went to the bathroom- was sitting in a stall. The guy next to me had Sketchers shoes on- saw he was a busboy when we walked out. He never washed his hands. Fourth time- had a salad. Was decent Fifth time (today)- had ANOTHER hair in my food under my fries. 40% of the time there is a hair in my food and the busboys don't wash their hands. Went for the chicken pot pie all you can eat dinner. Sounded like a good idea but what we received was not a chicken pot pie. It should have said on the menu chicken and dumplings. Had to order something else so paid for 4 dinners instead of 2. Horrible! Very disappointed and when I mentioned it to the cashier she acted like she didn't even know what a pot pie was. So from the outside it looks a little unwelcoming and probably wouldn't have stopped but my cousin lives close by and says its good. It was pretty good and decent prices. My wife got chicken marsala. The sauce was a little off from a traditional marsala wine sauce as they must add a bit of tomato sauce to it. Had a reddish tinge. She could taste marsala and said it was still pretty good. I tasted the sauce and agreed it was good. I got chicken francaise and it was done well. Both came w/ soup or salad, pasta or two sides, and dessert. $18 ea. we enjoyed it. Fabulous dining experience from start to finish. We were greeted warmly at the door and told there would be a wait and they took our name. 5 minutes later we were led to a nice booth. Waiter came quickly and took our order and explained specials. I had stuffed cod with baked potato and salad and coleslaw. Also came with choice of pudding or jello. I was not so crazy about salad. Either lettuce was over washed and wet or blue cheese dressing was watered down but there was a wetness to my salad I didn't care for. But the pieces of blue cheese in salad were amazing and I ate them all along with the cucumbers and tomatoes. The bread was also yummy, hot and with nice butter. The cod was amazing. Their coffee is delicious, not watery, which is important to me as I grew up always drinking good coffee that's mildly strong. The service is on point. I didn't have to wait too long to be seated, place my order, or for the food to come out and the entire staff was friendly. The ambiance is very hometown feel which I enjoy. It's small and quaint. If you're tired of home fries then order the special potatoes for a change (not on the menu). When it comes to lunch the soups are great.
