They also do not provide you with a receipt suitable for you to submit to your insurance. The receipt that I was given did not even list the name of my provider. In addition, no one there was anywhere close to friendly. It was one of those instances where it appeared. Everybody hated their jobs. I had to use the bathroom to provide a urine specimen. I used the last few squares of toilet paper, and there was no new roles to be found. The toilet would not flush. After I soaked up my hands, I turned the water on to find it came out less than a trickle, basically running down the porcelain of the sink. I was so disgusted. The visit itself was $150, the specimen was $25. I most definitely do not recommend this facility.

When we called back to have this corrected, the person on the phone was dismissive and did not listen to our concerns, despite the errors being on their end. This experience was frustrating and concerning, especially given the seriousness of why we were seeking care. The receptionist was very rude and made assumptions instead of listening to what we were trying to explain. She misunderstood the situation and ultimately hung up on us.

Once I filled out paperwork, I was immediately brought into the emergency area, where I met the nurses, and soon after that the P.A. on call that evening, all of whom were referred to on a first-name basis (who does that in a hospital emergency room?). Let me just say it was a bit surreal - but in the best way possible - that I immediately felt at home, and at ease, even though I was going through an episode. I still get choked up thinking about the amazing, caring experience I had there. When I left, I literally gave hugs to the two nurses and P.A. that tended to me (Molly, Chris and Josh - you all freakin' rock, man), and I felt like I had made friends for life in a little over 3 hours (and next time I'm up your way I'm gonna take you all out to dinner to show my gratitude!) After getting through all of this, it gives me hope that there are still good, kind, caring people out there in this world, and that healthcare *can* be a good experience when people love their jobs and where they work. Please keep on doing what you do at Grace Cottage Hospital, because in my opinion, you are absolutely second to none. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart!

Tracy at the operators' desk wouldn't make me an appt and had that worst bedside manner. She wouldn't even let me talk to my former doctor's office! I asked to speak with her collègue instead as I found her extremely unprofessional. So unprofessional in fact-- she hung up on me! Rude! This hospital panders for handouts and donations from the community. We have donated to the Hospital Fair Day most years - I've been a patient for 38 years but suddenly I'm not a patient anymore-- guess I won't be donating anymore either ‍
