Spectacular food and service! The only thing I'd change was the immensely loud table near us. It was such a peaceful setting but their rowdy laughs and conversations broke the peace. My wife and I otherwise loved the food.

Homemade cider sangria - OMG taste just like Apple crisp as it does have a cinnamon stick

Right on the river which is cool because you can see what is going on - the restaurant was very cute antiquity also offer showers as I saw a baby shower passing to the ladies room. The service is great our waitress was friendly - I will assume the manager came over to us to check on us which was night. It was a nice lunch meal and the drink I had was on point and might be only in season for the fall season - definitely check out as there is outside dining.

Had a nice lunch here with my family. Very cool old building and absolutely incredible views. Our waitress was great. Popovers with strawberry butter are put on your table when you arrive. It was warm and huge! Strawberry butter was fun but I think a honey butter would be a smart move. We ordered crab cakes for an app and they were pretty good but still a bit cold in the middle. It wasn't lumps of crab but the string kind. I ordered the cajun shrimp salad. There wasn't anything Cajun about it but it was fresh and tasty. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food and the consensus was it got the job done well.

My mother and I decided to spend a couple of days and nights here to escape the city. This historic inn, right by the Hudson, was perfect. Finding the front door was a bit difficult (go up the stairs), which made us crabby after a train misadventure and then lugging our suitcases up and down stairs and through a tunnel. When we arrived at the front desk to check in, it was somewhat chaotic as people were also being seated for meals. But we finally checked in and a nice man carried our luggage to our rooms. There are stairs, no elevator. My mother's room, on the second floor, had a balcony overlooking the Hudson (with chairs) and a small indoor seating area. It was lovely, although she couldn't get the armoire doors to open. My room, on the third floor, was a suite of sorts with a daybed and second television in the second room, which also contained the Keurig coffee maker. Neither room had any closets. There were hooks on the back of the door to my room, and on the wall of the second bedroom. My mother put her coat and jacket on a chair, since the armoire was unavailable. The bathrooms have been fully updated and modernized, although the bathtub in my room was smallish and very shallow. The shower had weak water pressure and was difficult to adjust. But there were nice thick towels and scented toiletries. The bar lounge area, with a fireplace (which my mother loved on a previous visit) has been converted into another dining area, filled with tables. The fireplace was off, as there was a table very close to it. We were lucky to be there during Restaurant Week, and there was a wonderful three-course prix fixe menu. The food is absolutely superb. We had two dinners and two breakfasts at the hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. We had a hot breakfast Sunday morning (included with the rooms) and a cold breakfast (we both had the yogurt, berry, and granola parfait, also included) and delicious coffee. Everyone working at the Inn was friendly and kind, even when it was really busy. Which was pretty much all the time.

My husband and I stopped by this spot in Cold Spring after a hike and a train ride from the city. We picked it for the outdoor seating and stunning fall views of the water. Pros: The location is perfect--clearly a lively tourist & local favorite. The host was kind enough to let us use the restroom while on the waitlist, and the pizza (especially the margherita) was phenomenal. I'm still thinking about it months later! Cons: The rest of the food was hit-or-miss. The popover was disappointing with the wrong texture, and the soup had either too much sherry or brandy. Service, though friendly, was slow, and there was a long wait for outdoor seating even with open tables inside. My husband's lobster bisque was more bisque than lobster. Great for pizza and views, but I'd skip the extras next time.

Craig and staff did a wonderful job hosting my daughter's bridal shower. Craig is a pro- at planning and the wait staff very attentive. The luncheon delicious.

Went for a birthday lunch, nice atmosphere with river views, service was very good, ordered crab cakes, would recommend, house salad was good and the salmon with crabmeat was okay but lacking in flavor, would not order that again.

This was a pleasant surprise. I had a friend in town and instead of eating at a crowded restaurant on the main street in cold spring, I decided to look for a brunch place close to the water. We were seated outside on a beautiful day overlooking the river. The outdoor seating spaces were pretty tight, but comfortable. The service was good. You start your brunch with a delicious pop over. Like most restaurants these days, they seemed to be a tad understaffed. There was also a bridal shower going on so that may explain the staffing restraints. We did wait a little bit longer to put in our order and we had to flag somebody down for refills of coffee. Other than that, the food was really good and we enjoyed it. I would recommend this restaurant. It is a nice break from the over populated brunch spots in cold spring. It is beautiful to be by the water on a pretty day.

Chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. Loved the food and the aesthetic on the balcony. I had the crab stuffed shrimp and it hit the spot. The bread and chickpea salsa stuff was delicious. The cocktails here are also top notch. Perfect location to celebrate us.

With a little luck, I managed to book a room for two nights during Labor Day weekend with only about a week's notice at the Botsford Briar. I found it on the internet, having never before been to Beacon, a little escape I had planned because of hiking, kayaking, the Dia: Beacon, the boat to tour Bannerman Castle, and Main Street were all within walking distance. I arrived quite early on Saturday via train and headed up to Main Street. I had a kayaking tour reservation and had planned to do that before checking in at Bostford Briar. However, when there was some miscommunication and the tour left without me, the folks at Mountain Top outdoor store called the proprietors of the Botsford Briar (yeah, it's that small of a town) to see if I could check in early. And all was well; they were happy to take me early. My room was ready and I headed over...and up the rather steep hill of High Street. Charlie met me halfway up the hill and insisted on taking my bag the rest of the way. The house is charming and looks just as it does on the website photo. Inside, it's filled with curiosities on the first floor. I met Shirley there too. Throughout my stay, she and Charlie were wonderful. They took the time to try to find an alternate kayaking solution for me, suggested restaurants, went to the trouble of having my breakfast ready quite early on my last morning there since I had to leave before the normal time, etc. I stayed in the Wisteria Room, which was lovely. The bed was comfy. There were a couple of chairs as well as a table with two dining chairs with bottles of water on a tray. In case it was needed, there was an AC unit. Lots of sunlight could come in through the generous windows (though you could pull curtains and shades too). Wifi was free. The TV wasn't a flat screen, but I didn't watch it so, who really cares? The room had wonderful charm and was clearly lovingly decorated. The bathroom was a private one down the hall. However, they've thoughtfully added a curtain one can pull to really make that whole wing private (so you don't feel odd walking to the bathroom in your pajamas; nobody can see you). I loved the claw foot tub and had a nice soak each night. It was a large bathroom with nice towels and was meticulously clean. I spent a good portion of both evenings watching the sunset on the beautiful shared deck out back. It's at the top of High Street and you can see down and across the Hudson River. It's beautiful and a wonderful quiet spot (or a place to chat with other guests, as I did the second evening). Also shared for the guests is a small room with a fridge, cupboard (thoughtfully stocked with glasses, wine glasses, corkscrews, etc.), and a single serving coffee maker for anything you wanted to make or store yourself. Breakfast was quite generous. There was one freshly baked (and still warm!) item each day along with other breads, a fantastic fruit plate, juice, and coffee. The only thing I would have added would have been a hard boiled egg or something so that I could get in a little protein. But with what was provided, I really wasn't lacking at all in nourishment. It's brought to your room at your chosen time on a tray. The location is great. It's easy walking distance to the train station, Dia: Beacon, boat launch, and Main Street. It's within walking distance of a trail head for hiking as well though you should know that it's a long hike in itself up Main Street to reach it. I'm so glad I came to Botsford Briar to get away. It's so clear how much love (and personal talent/handiwork) Charlie and Shirley have put into the place. And they really take pride in making it a wonderful retreat. I wouldn't be surprised if I found myself back there again when weary of the city.

The decor of the room and the b&b are not my particular taste, cluttered, heavy fabrics, heavy wooded furniture. Taste is subjective though and I could imagine another person may enjoy. The air conditioner is positioned in such a way that it blows directly on the bed. I found sitting out on the deck to be noisier than we hoped for...can hear the train whistle and cars on a road in the distance. The morning breakfast spread had coffee, juice, pastries and fruit, none of which were of the best quality. I only met Charlie who was friendly and very helpful. I spoke to a woman who I believe is the owner by phone while booking and when we were likely to arrive after their 9pm time limit and our phone personalities did not mesh well.

The Few room is similarly decorated with beautiful antique wooden furniture as well as a small library including historical texts about the room's namesake William Few. Despite its retro ambiance, it did not lack for modern conveniences. The room itself is quite spacious, more than enough for two people, and it has all the amenities you would expect including a large comfortable bed, a TV, water heater, and supplies to make tea. Every morning, we were offered breakfast which was served in a ornately decorated dining room and consisted of a tasty fruit salad as well as freshly baked croissants, scrambled eggs, fresh orange juice, and coffee. This was delicious way to start off the day that we looked forward to everyday. The best part of our stay was getting to interact with the owners. Throughout our stay we were well taken care of by Lynn. She was always available if we needed help and offered tips about what to see and do in Beacon. Overall, I highly recommend the Chrystie House for anyone looking to stay overnight in Beacon. It is a far more luxurious and intimate experience than what you would get at a hotel and was exactly what we were looking for during our weekend getaway.

I must say this is a beautiful, stunning, and artsy property if you get the chance to visit! We worked with Rev Jim for a couple of years leading up to the wedding where he provided us a questionnaire for my husband and I to fill out separately with some personal questions about our relationship so he could learn more about us as a couple. I highly recommend taking this seriously as he was able to truly personalize and incorporate our love into the ceremony this way! Rev Jim also provided a document listing the different types of ceremonies to select what suits us best. We aren't the most religious, but wanted a little mention of god's blessing to appease our family, and he nailed that. He was also very accommodating with having a couple of family members conduct a reading, as well as allow time for my step-sister (who is a musical theatre professional) to sing at the beginning of our ceremony. We also decided for our unity ceremony to do the handfasting which truly "tied the knot"! During our reception, we received so many compliments from our guests on his ceremony, and even had some friends ask if they can use him for their wedding!
