We'd made a later reservation for after our movie but were out sooner than expected and they gleefully accommodated us. Our server Susan was very welcoming and friendly. We were happy to see a full dining room and happy diners. We waited a bit for our food as was expected but the food was very much worth the wait. We enjoyed their egg yolk & shoe-string fries, their grilled calamari, and the ribeye. Everything arrived at perfect temperatures and well seasoned. We have visited Cafe Amarcord a few times, and enjoyed the atmosphere, staff and food each time. This visit we requested a table away from the door, since it was very cold outside. Pre meal cocktail was a Hugo (St-Germain, Mint, Prosecco, Club Soda ) and Paper Plane (Bourbon, amaro, aperol, lemon juice). For a starter we shared an appetizer from the specials, poached shrimp with a corn sauce. My main course was the CHICKEN FRA DIAVOLO which had a little heat from the crush red peppers. The broccoli rabe served with it was delicious. My husband enjoyed a steak cooked perfectly. Sorry I don't have any other details on his meal. read more

It was not sweet (a plus for me), but had a wonderful flavor with a bartender secret ingredient. The beet and barrata appetizer is a winner. It's more like a deconstructed barrata bit delicious. Shared the cute purse shaped cheese stuffed fiocchi pasta with brown butter pasta special, PISTACHIO BURRATA and SHRIMP WITH WILD MUSHROOMS. All pasta dishes were distinct and delicious. We have been coming to cafe Amarcord since we have been together in 2018 and this has truly become a coveted date night experience when we want to feel certain that the food experience is going to be what is expected and we have yet to be disappointed. Our waitress has been very attentive and sweet, making us feel like there has been an acknowledgment that we have been pretty loyal patrons. Today is my birthday and it has been so nice to be considered despite so much is going on in the restaurant. For alcohol my partner had the margarita with Milagros and I had the sparkling red wine. For starters we had the andovich ( I know I butchered this) salad which had smoked trout, very flavorful balanced bitter salad and the lamb skewers with couscous and a yogurt sauce. Both the salad and the lamb were so flavorful we both were left wanting more while we waited for dinner. For my main course I had the special dungeons crab spaghetti and my partner had the short rib pasta. Both absolutely rich and delectable, For close we had the pistachio truffle which was not too sweet and really delicious. Didn't expect to find good Italian food in the small town of Beacon, but the food was delicious! The chicken, veal, and pasta were mouthwateringly good. Flavorful, but pair well and not overly salty. We originally considered eating in but ended up ordering take-out and the staff was very gracious about the change in our decision. Although the hostess had to move my party of 2 in order to accommodate a larger group, she hooked us up with drinks on the house and a more intimate table in the back for being agreeable. The warmth continued with our server's humor and level of attentiveness. I could not believe that they had rabbit with polenta on the menu. It brought me back to childhood; the irony of which was not lost on me given the occasion. I took all my sweet time to savor each bite and Amarcord let me. The seared yellow tail tuna my bestie devoured was also a standout. Two clean plates and one Fellini postcard in my pocket is how we left our experience. We had a wonderful experience here. We were greeted right away and both the host and the server acknowledged our anniversary (I'd written it in the reservation). Service was excellent throughout the night - attentive but not overbearing. The waiter provided wine pairing suggestions and allowed me to taste two different wines before choosing one. The food was mostly very good. App: My husband and I both loved the calamari - not fried, very tasty and refreshing. Main: My husband enjoyed the pasta he got - they prepared it for him with no dairy even though it was a cream sauce on the menu (we're both dairy-free). I got the ahi tuna. The tuna itself was great, however the entire dish - served on top of a bed of cabbage-y vegetables (reminiscent of moo-shu) - was doused in way too much sauce. The vegetables were overcooked and unfortunately not crispy at all. The taste was very good; I just would have preferred less sauce and less cooked vegetables. I guess I could have sent it back - and probably should have - but it was still okay to eat and we were having a great time so I let it go. Sadly, but not unexpectedly, there were no dairy free options for dessert, other than sorbet. Nothing wrong with sorbet but not very exciting. They did have a nice dessert wine list and the decaf coffee was very good. The ambience, as others have suggested, was dim and perfect for a date night. We will definitely go back! read more

Beacon is the best and cutest little town! So much to do and so many places to eat so we had a hard time deciding. We picked Cafe Amarcord and were not disappointed. The inside was beautiful and fancy but we chose outdoor dining off to the side. Our waiter (I think Ken) was pleasant and felt natural, like he knew his stuff and wasn't trying too hard. Our cocktails looked and tasted artisan. I think about $13 each so certainly on the pricey side but my husband and I don't get time out for ourselves too frequently so it was worth the splurge. We got some warm toasty break with this dipping sauce. The bread pretty much serviced as a vessel to get a giant heaping mouthful of the sauce. I asked what was in it and promptly forgot but it was tomato based. Trust me, yummy!! I had the meyer lemon rabbit. I love lemo but have yet to try rabbit. It tasted like chicken and was over polenta and some braised veggies. I honestly would've liked even more lemon taste or maybe some capers but I would order it again. My husband had the duck ragu and was very happy. This isn't a place I would go to all the time. It is fancy and pricey but I would certainly go back for an anniversary or special occasion. read more

We were a bit disappointed this time around... My cocktail-the "paper plane" was definitely shy on bourbon. I've had this cocktail before, but this time around it tasted like fruit juice; barely any alcohol. Our shrimp appetizer was delicious and flavorful as usual. We devoured it! For our mains my partner ordered the $50 boneless ribeye special-which ended up NOT being the described special. It was supposed to be served with au poivre/ green peppercorn sauce; but was served totally naked. My tagliatelle were cooked properly and arrived piping hot-but there was some sort of thickening agent that made the short rib sauce very "starchy" in texture. I'm guessing that a flour-based roux was used. It was kind of gross...It also dampened/deadened the flavor of the sauce. It was bland and underseasoned. Our waiter was fabulous, as always. It's rare I finish the food on my plate but in this case, I licked my plate dry and had room for dessert! I believe our waitress was Rebecca/Rachel and her recommendations were spot on! First - the olive oil mixture was heavenly, great spin on butter or strictly olive oil! Second - the scallops had the most perfect char I ever did see, pictures to follow. The salsa concoction it rested on was delectable! Entrees: my hubby got the pork chop and it's safe to say, it was the thickest chop we ever did see. Barely ANY fat and cooked to perfection. I was excited to try one of the best reviewed restaurants in Beacon but was unfortunately disappointed. The hostess, Ashley, was lovely and super pleasant as was our waitress. The entrees were somehow bland and very slow to arrive. The chicken was very over salted which erased any flavor it might have had. Went here for dinner yesterday and the food was phenomenal! Small restaurant with a really interesting vibe to it. Id say the menu itself is Italian American. We had the burrata and quail specials which were by far some of the best prepared items I've had for similar dishes. I then went of to have a veal chop parm which was by far one of the best I have ever had. Drinks were great too, they had a nice cocktail menu to choose from. My coworkers had the espresso martini and said it was really good. On the down side my party usually share apps with each other when we go out to eat. Five start dining experience in Beacon. We didn't have reservations so we decided to dine early on a Friday night and we weren't disappointed. The wait staff was great and friendly and responsive and worked as a team. The bar tender made a mean margarita (so good that I had two). We split a salad that was perfectly crafted and had the perfect amount of dressing. Bread was great with a olive oil dipping sauce. After a lukewarm welcome from the hostess in which she tried to tell me a seat was reserved at the bar, (and reading reviews this morning after our visit I see this is a theme) we had the friendliest BEST bartender ever who was able to describe the specials in great detail while simultaneously mixing and shaking complicated cocktails for the capacity filled fine dining crowd. Initially not sure if we were staying for dinner, we ordered three apps; in short, meatballs, burrata/tomato and beet salad. They were presented BEAUTIFULLY, incredibly fresh and drizzled with their delectable sauces. The wine list was well thought out and the martini was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed bantering with the super busy but friendly staff, and my husband got his fix of quick glances at the basketball game on the tv's overhead, without me feeling like I was in a sports bar. Menu is eclectic; Albanian, American, European influences. However, we decided to enjoy our dinner on their outdoor patio, starting with thick slices of Italian bread. We both ordered specials - my boyfriend the filet mignon and me the trout. His steak was cooked to his liking, but was covered in substantial amount of creamy sauce and capers, contrary to the description we had previously received from the server. He is not particularly a fan of heavy sauces, so he tried to scrape it off as best as he could. He also was not enthused by the included string beans, but had not really liked their other vegetable substitutes any better. Despite his particular preferences, he was shockingly thrilled by the accompanying mashed parsnips, a healthier alternative to potatoes. My fish was well-seasoned and delicate. The full trout had been butterflied with slices of red onion, ripe tomato, and fresh avocado scatter on top of it. I found the dish as light and fresh as you would expect, but also nothing unusual. Café Amarcord's patio was peaceful; the service was friendly; and the food was fine. Overall, it was a nice, but not extremely memorable, experience. read more

Come here for a salad and a quiet cold atmosphere in an Italian theme restaurant. The waitress was very pleasant and cheerful. The chef however spent more time flirting than with the food. A few feet from our table we had to listen to an uncomfortable human resource conversation as the chef kept complimenting the waitress, then added how she looked, then she tried to brush it off. Inappropriate indeed. Where's the food? Not on our table. We get the entrees we ordered. Dry and unseasoned meat topped with a salad. Putting wet on top of fried is not the best combo, but the good salad covered the terrible protein. The pasta dishes were on par with the classic tastes of Italy that you would find at Olive Garden. If you like that good for you, but that wasn't what I was expecting with all the good reviews. Came here on a Wednesday night for a dinner date. The tables were all booked which was kind of surprising for a weeknight. We were seated in the back patio which was nice and quiet. We got a bottle of Chardonnay and the smoked salmon appetizer to start. It was absolutely delish. For the main courses we ordered the Fettuccine with Shrimp and the Whole Branzino. This is a special place. A small but interesting gourmet Italian menu, great vibe and service. We had the shaved Brussels sprouts appetizer, a spicy shrimp pasta dish and the chicken fra diavolo, with the Mt Etna rosso wine. Everything was jaw-droppingly good. It's an elevated version of a red sauce joint, but not snooty or expensive. You felt like it was run by people who know how to run a restaurant. read more
