unfortunately we must write this negative review to warn other customers. Walt, the owner of…read moreCortland collision center kept our car for 52 days. We had a $500 deductible with our insurance company and he charged us $906.75. we had used them in the past, and there had been no problem. This time it was a giant problem. Long horrible story short - after making somewhere between 50 and 60 phone calls, texts and emails we were unable to recover any of our extra cost from Geico. Walt kept our car for hostage. We cannot live without a car where we reside. we had insurance for a rental car and even that ran out. Enterprise also overcharged us by about $134. this entire episode between Cortland collision center and enterprise car rental was an exercise in futility. when we used to call Walt and ask him what was going on he said he had a customer on the phone and would hang up on us. What were we? we were customers as well. we feel badly used. We would like to rectify our previous review. I believe we gave him five stars.

Scam estimates, bait and switch - be very careful. They have now moved to Stamford, where we got…read morean estimate ($40 charge). They gave us the estimate plus an additional estimate for more work "to make it better," which was 2.5x higher. We scheduled the appointment for our original plan - and made arrangements to drop it off and to be without the car for 4 days. When we brought it in, we were told they would only do the work for the higher amount and that the estimate was "just to tell you how much it would cost to have it done...not that we would do it." No matter they knew what we wanted when we made the appointment. The shop manager was "unavailable" and I could not get a refund on my $40. Perhaps it's better not to have had the work done - who knows what additional amounts would have been added on. But if you don't want my business, don't waste my time. Don't bait and switch.

They have gone outside to show me where the fuse box is that I couldn't find, gave me helpful advice to prevent issues, are reasonably priced and have the parts I need when I need it. Recently I needed a very odd battery for a project car and looked online for who would carry it. Despite all the big chain stores showing it in stock, no one had it. I remembered DAS, we aren't very local to it and they not only had it but said they'd hold it for me until I got there. Wow. Great service and it's a local business. Lastly, to the woman who was upset about not being allowed to park when she needed the emergency vet. There are literally 4 spots for the auto parts store and a subway. The emergency vet is in the next building and has parking in the rear. Would you be upset that the police wouldn't let you park on Tarrytown road? I understand the urgency of your situation... I have been there but park illegally in front of the vet and once your animal is inside with them... go park your car. It's not the auto part store's responsibility to provide you a place to park that prohibits them from doing business. That review was not necessary. This is a good business... my opinion anyway
