Dr. Goldberg stated he would not perform surgery at Englewood Hospital due to concerns about post-surgical complications and the hospital's inability to handle them. Dr. Goldberg stated he would sign transfer paperwork anywhere, at any time, by anyone who asks to help facilitate transfer to a specialty care hospital. Then Dr. Goldberg disappeared. No explanation. No communication. No reassignment to another neurosurgeon. I contacted Dr. Goldberg's office requesting he follow through on his commitment. No response. My mother is now mostly wheelchair-bound with urinary retention and inability to move her bowels. She continues to deteriorate by the day. She is currently hospitalized with an unknown outcome. This could have potentially been reversed if Dr. Goldberg had not abandoned her at her most vulnerable time of need. This is patient abandonment. Dr. Goldberg, at my mother's most vulnerable time of need: will you help, or will you abandon her again? If you cannot trust a doctor to follow through on facilitating the care they themselves recommended, how can you possibly trust them to handle post-operative complications? Once in the pre-op unit, Chris set me up and then Nancy was sure to keep my husband updated with my progress. Mark. the OR nurse could not have been kinder! He explained everything that was expected. I felt very informed and that put me at ease. Jen, the scrub tech, had the OR in tip top shape for the procedure! Dr Delfico is very knowledgeable and calm, I knew I was in good hands! The person who gets the least amount of attention but is VERY important is the anesthesiologist, Dr Sakowitz. She was extremely thorough with my allergies and medications as well as my history with anesthesia. I again, knew I was in good hands. Last but not least was the PACU nurse Lia, she was funny, kind and caring! The facility is easy to find and there is plenty of parking. Office staff is nice and just trying to earn a living wage. The doctors and "VPs" are everything wrong with healthcare. They have covered up mistakes, will not correct them, gaslight, and have left me with incredibly difficult questions for me to figure out essentially blindly, since they are obviously not telling me exactly what truly happened during my surgery. They should be shut down for not disclosing what actually transpired during my surgery. The doctor ignored my requests pre surgery and operated on me in a way I specifically asked him not to. Of course, he does not recall these conversations and insists I have a mental health issue despite trusting his "wait and see" approach for months. His office staff was kind and essentially I have to take my case elsewhere but it is fairly complex to do so, without elaborating. If this is where US healthcare is going, it is a terrifying future. You know how products today are built to fail, "controlled obsolescence"... Highland Surgical Associates has shown me that they are trying to take this approach to our bodies- doing procedures that ultimately fail their patients and leave them worse off, without acknowledging evidence of the damage they've done (including clear, obvious images).
