I've been taking my two boys to HV Swim for 3 years, and while before it was a bit hard for them to get in a lot of practice because of class sizes, this year at Gold's Gym having 3 kids per class, it's made a world of a difference. With just one class down, I'm writing this review with 5 stars because they've done more in the first class in 30 minutes than they have in years past combined, so thank you to HV Swim but also to instructor Richard. My one boy was always so scared of the water, and I've had to request credits because he never went in. Now, he not only stayed there, but swam by himself for the first time ever, was happy about it, and can't wait to go back- he just needed the right motivation. My other son is a fish and was given the right encouragement to do it on his own and swam laps, with a safe eye watching him. I would not recommend this place for your kids. Poor customer service, they never answer emails. Once u sign up and pay your money they treat you like if they are giving you the service for free. They pulled my daughter out of the pool after the instructor stated she could handle and it was a make up class they we paid for. Totally embarrased my 5 year old which she carries around till this day stating at family dinners how she got thrown out of the pool. Way to go hudson valley swim. No 5 year old should have to go through that. Waited 2 weeks to contact us to try and make amends which at that point is a no go. We talking about a half hr and just common courtesy here. I suggest take your kids else where we work hard for our money and no child should be treated this way. I could make a bigger deal about this and go to the state and owners of golds gym and let them in on what type of organization this is. So in a word stay away there are cheaper and better options around this area. Funny how they only respond to negative reviews. Again we are talking about 30min. Time i didnt show up un annouced thats was out scheduled time. I did not know there was new classes. No one ever responded to my emails. But again this is a paid service i pay for this this is not free at the end of the day the customer is correct when they are paying. You do not embarass a 5 year old. I have been meaning to review this company for months now, but seeing the other review on here that couldn't be further from the truth inspired me to finally put "pen to paper". Imagine this - you have an almost 4 year old daughter who can't swim, you own an above ground pool, and you just read a story online about a child similar in age drowning the previous summer. Something clicked inside of me - even though I was 8 months pregnant with my 2nd, I knew now was the time to get her swimming lessons. A Google search brought me to Hudson Valley Swim. Joan spoke to me on a Friday night, after emailing Jeff the day before the class was to start, and she got me into the appropriate class. Right off the bat, it was clear that we were doing something right with choosing this company. The swimming lessons of my childhood at the local Y were huge classes and unattentive instructors - NEITHER of which is ever an issue with this company. Quite the opposite! My now 4 year old went from a child who would not let go of me or my husband in the pool to being able to swim on her own about 7-8 yards, hold her breath underwater, and have no fear in only 6 short months (30 minutes 1x a week). These classes max out at 4 students a class, so your child gets a ton of attention. And OH. MY. GOD. Their instructors are absolutely amazing, and Chrisanna is a swimming angel sent from God. I work f/t almost 2 hours away by car, and we live 30 minutes from this location, and I move our entire schedule around to get into Chrisanna's class. Her talent with the children she teaches is so remarkable - she is fun- loving, focused, and makes it so much fun. Imagine my pride that formed tears as they rolled down my cheek when I received Jeff's email yesterday about my older daughter's swimming progress and her being able to move up to the next class. I am surprised to see the positive reviews, perhaps for older children or different locations this is a better program? I started lessons with my 2.5 year old a couple weeks ago in Newburgh and found it to be complete chaos. You're in the pool with several other age groups all sharing a small area and trying to stay out of each other's way. It is loud and crowded and there's really no personalized attention in the group lesson. I also found the facility to be rather gross. read more

My kids are in their second year of swim classes with Hudson Valley Swim and I couldn't be happier. I registered through email with Jeff and spoke with Joan a handful of times about registration. Both were amazingly nice, informative, quick to respond, and accommodating. The teachers we have been lucky enough to have are even more amazing! My kids both had Emily last summer. She was amazing. Kind, knowledgeable, and firm when she needed to be. Which as a mother gave me peace and security. My kids have Sean this summer and couldn't be happier. Sean is a skilled teacher- knowledgeable And creative while instructing with outstanding skill set while working with children. After a couple of tries with other programs, I wondered if my boys would ever learn to swim. But with HV Swim, after 5 lessons my boys are swimming. Jessica and Jay are fantastic teachers. I am really happen with HV Swim. read more

I have had nothing but good experiences with HV Swim and their instructors. We have only taken one session so far with Chrisanna, who is the most amazing instructor I have ever taken a class with. I have previously taken classes at a Y before moving to this area. The HV Class is small and my son gets one on one attention from the instructor every time. Chrisanna is so patient with the children AND the parents, and speaks in such appropriate and encouraging language. I had a great experience neither the office too, scheduling my sessions as well as makeups. Great experience all around. We are signed up for the next session already! read more

My son, who is four years old, has been participating with the Hudson Valley Swim program for a year now. I'm very pleased with everything in general. I've seen good progress with him and he loves going to swimming classes. The instructors are sweet and patient with the kids and good teachers. Instructors are a slightly mixed bag but overall good. Some we have had were outstanding. But owner/manager Joan is horrible. Can't keep track of anything. We have had nothing but problems with make-up classes and with billing errors. She does not communicate changes to her instructors and is never on scene when something goes wrong or a question arises. When she is there she'll walk right past you. Never a hello or 'how are the kids doing?' Pays to go private or semi private, especially if you have more than one child and ESPECIALLY if they are at different levels. Regular group lessons leave only a couple of minutes of actual one on one instruction. read more
