I picked up a fleet car today at Hudson Valley Volvo. It's over two hours from where I live, but it was worth the trip. I've had several fleet cars over the years...and most of them included very unpleasant interactions with less than happy salesman dealing with someone that doesn't provide a big commission. Well, that wasn't my experience today. Perry was absolutely wonderful and spent an extraordinary amount of time with me to go over all of the car's features and made sure everything was perfect and in working order. So we had a great salesman, Perry, who has retired. We leased our car and decided to buy it. Not even seconds after the ink dried on our auto loan, every light was showing up. It looked like a Christmas TREE. Brought it to SIM(who is wonderful) Sim said I think it has water damage. They offered no car to use. This happened on a Tuesday, and on that Friday, I finally got a little XC40 to use. No one in the service department answers the phone. You have to leave a message. We called, and my husband emailed Brian Coughlin, Mr. CEO, not a word. CRICKETS. So finally, after leaving 3 messages today, I received word that my car was coming home. I have my car now, finally, after over 2 weeks. I'm not sure what happened to it. Hopefully, it never happens again. They told me it was fixed, time will tell. Can you imagine being the CEO and not answering an email or phone call? The main concern is that I sold 3 other cars for them. My brother, my neighbor, and my neighbor's parents. I will never suggest anyone to shop at Hudson Valley Volvo again. EVER! Take a nice ride to Danbury or Albany, but please steer clear of this awful dealership. Again, it's HUDSON VALLEY VOLVO! Hudson Valley Volvo has been my dealership for over 30 years for service and some purchases. On June 2nd I picked up my car which was there for a month. After the dealership and my insurance company pointing fingers at each other, it was decided not to replace carpet damaged by water but to remove, dry, and reinstall the carpet. The car when I picked it up was full of all the beach sand and other debris that was there when I brought the car to them at the beginning of May. When I spoke we the manager Dan and told him of this his response was "Are you calling me a Liar" I am saying that service was never done. What else don't they do that they say they did? read more

Dealership is poorly run. There are many complaints, but the worst is when they said they had a particular car ( which they didn't ). They called us the next morning to tell us that they found one. Subsequently we waited and waited several hours till we realized that they weren't going to call us back.at all. So rude! Don't go there on a hot day. The dealership is small and with all of the people in the showroom, the temperature is stifling. The salesperson asked for our drivers license to make copies for a test drive. We had to remind her to give them back. They finally found a test a car to test drive after about an hour and a half. The car was so dirty, we didn't want to go in to drive it but we did for lack of choice. Even though we made an appointment for 2.30 we left around 4 hours later. We had gotten another quote from 2 other dealerships. They tried to sell us the car without the available discounts till we mentioned them. Honestly I wouldn't have written this bad review if only the manager called us and truthfully told us they weren't able to get the car for us. read more

I would try to avoid doing business here. My salesman was indirect and withheld important information about a new EV; for example he told me they supplied two chargers, when in fact all I got were two useless wires. You'd better be well prepared and alert if you drive in here. My salesman also abandoned his explanation and training on the car for me when a couple of new prospects showed up. read more

I'm currently on my 3rd lease with Volvo of Hudson Valley, almost exclusively because of Jim, our salesman. I also really love our XC40 and the features it has, but we have had some issues with the service department on more than one occasion. Jim has always been helpful in getting things worked out for us, and making sure we are taken care of whether it is mid lease or when it's time to find something new at the end of our term. As long as Jim is still there, we will continue to come back. Volvo makes a great car, and has some really great employees working for them. read more

The service department is awful. I took my car in for service because I had the abs and tire pressure light on. They charged me $1000 over the phone and assured me all was taken care of. They left my car in a lot for me to pick up after hours. When I started my car, I noticed the tire pressure light was still on. I took the car back, and they told me I never told them anything about the tire pressure, and they only fixed the abs. I talked with the receptionist, Tanya, about the tire pressure. This is a dirty trick that pulled on me. They are rechecking the car; anyone can guess what they will tell me. Never pay before you check your car. I'm at their mercy now. It's sad. read more

We purchased our xc90 at this dealership. It is by far the most frustrating dealership I've had to deal with when it comes to service. First of, to try to get someone on the phone is always a challenge. Avoid calling during lunch hour. I get it, people need a break. But for some of us, that particular time is the only time we can make a call to make an appointment. Be prepared when you have your vehicle serviced. Plan accordingly. Went in for an oil change and for a recall. Told an hour and a half max. It ended up being there for 3 hours! Apparently when I checked in, they realized that there were other recalls on the vehicle. Fine, I would rather have it done Instead of having to come back. They really should have invested in a separate area for sales and service. Heard every single phone call made by their salespeople! Perhaps don't use the speaker phone? I'm just glad that I didn't have the kids with me. There's no play area for the little ones unlike other dealerships. They used to have one and took it out when they remodeled. (VW next door has a much nicer waiting area! They even have a vending machine just in case you get hungry!) They do have coffee and tea available, however they don't even have milk/creamer! With their vehicles price point, you expect a little bit more than other dealerships. Step it up Volvo! read more

i have always posted great reviews for this dealership. I honestly like the people, Danny, service manager is great, however, Volvo has initiated a 3% additional charge on all services paid for via credit card. debit cards are free to use. I thought that my credit card company must be charging the fee to Volvo for processing so I paid it. Then I call Discover and no, they get nothing from that charge. this is a way for Volvo to make more money for doing nothing. I contacted other Volvo dealerships and they don't charge it so I guess that's what I'm doing in the future when I need service. read more

Initially I thought this place was great. Particularly because of their salesman Stefan. As he was great and did everything he could. However, I was sold a lemon. The brand new car died on the second day of ownership. The dealer not their service department wanted to do anything, including sending a tow truck. Finally after towing the car in, their service department was clueless. Had the car for months and couldn't fix it and refused to give my money back or repurchase so I could make another Volvo purchase. The head of their service department was so rude and nasty. When asked why the car still said keys weren't detected, he said deal with it because the car didn't start before and now it does. I will not ever return to this dealership. I think Stefan is the only good thing happening there. And that's only because he's nice. The dealership doesn't take the time to sell decent cars. This is my second one from there with tons of issues. To add insult to injury, sales manager Mindy pushed and sold two warranty & maintenance policies bogusly as they cover nothing. Looking back, it was clearly a way for them to make an extra $5k off of a customer. I am still waiting for my refund. Mindy takes her time to answer emails and phone calls AND she is extremely rude. Buyers beware if you use this dealership. They are awful! From bad cars to rude and incompetent service managers, and business managers who are shady sales people who get rude when they get called out for their bad behavior. Started the process to lease a new XC40 or XC60 a couple of months ago. Stefan had us test drive both and really took his time going over features and numbers. Fast forward to last week when we returned to test drive both again. Stefan was wonderful. No pressure, took his time to go over features and numbers again and made it possible for us to take the XC60 home that day! Stefan was extremely patient and knowledgeable and made the whole process smooth. Will recommend him with no qualms! Also, Mindy, the business manager, was great too. I purchased my XC60 Volvo at this dealership in 2019. I have been totally pleased with the service department each time I brought my car in for servicing. For example, one time, I brought it in because of a flat tire. They recommended two new tires for the front. I asked them if I should replace the rear tires, and they told me I did not need rear tires yet. I was impressed with their honesty. They could have sold me four new tires. I needed some bodywork after an encounter with a deer. So I called asking if they would recommend a body shop. They sent me to Bacari's in Briarcliff. Bacari's Auto Body did a fabulous job repairing my car. I find everyone in the service department to be professional, honest, and friendly. And they get the job done. Someone wrote in that there was a long wait for their vehicle to be serviced. I have not experienced a very long wait to date. And I also realize I am not the only fish in the sea! I wished that there's a closer Volvo dealer in our area. Hudson Valley Volvo's customer service is definitely not up to par to other dealers around in the area. I am a first time Volvo owner. I absolutely love my xc90, but I can't say the same for the dealer. We have several vehicles and this dealer by far is the hardest one to even get a live person to even talk to. I'm not sure if they are short staffed, but It's rare that I would get a live person when calling to make an appointment. They have a general receptionist who will then transfer you call to the service department. They must not have a receptionist in that department since most of the time I get a voicemail. As a business owner of a service company, I would be mortified to have such poor customer service. Fortunately I only have to deal with them every 10k miles for service. read more

Hudson Valley Volvo made this out-of-routine service quite convenient and safe for me as our family observes social distancing right now. Unsatisfied for sure. As a first time Volvo buyer the lack of communication between sales and finance is unprecedented. My delivery experience was a joke. The car I was purchasing was a lease turn in and I highly doubt any of the inspections that are done to certify the vehicle were done. The car wasn't detailed, tire had a plug in the sidewall as well as uneven wear on others. Still had original leasee's info in the car (still does today), glue on the dashboard, software wasn't updated and I'm sure the cabin filter wasn't changed or any other filter. Car was supposed to have been aligned after they did replace two tires and I could've said it was but instead watched the "mechanic" drive off the premises. Things that make you really wonder what is actually done when you're not around. This car should have never been delivered in the condition it was, probably should have walked away. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone I cared about. read more

My husband and I just moved to the Hudson Valley and needed a new vehicle on a quick timeline. We walked into Hudson Valley Volvo with a certified pre-owned xc60 in mind and walked out an hour later having test drove one and placed a deposit on another in our color choice that was en route to the dealer. Perry, our sales rep, was extremely helpful and walked us through the inventory they had as well as what was on the way. He showed us all the vehicle's features on the test drive and was never pushy or heavy handed with the sales pitch. We felt informed and excited and ready to purchase. We had to wait about a week for the car to arrive at the dealer and go through the service process but that was all communicated to us ahead of time and once it came in, the process was extremely smooth and we picked it up and drove it out, again all within about an hour. Mindy in the finance department was extremely helpful and kind over the phone in the lead up to the sale and she walked us through all of the paperwork in person. It couldn't have been smoother and we love the car already. Perry even threw in some rubber mud mats which is a great thing to have in the Hudson Valley in winter! read more

I purchased a 2013 Volvo XC90 at the end of January 2016. It was delivered in February 2016. The purchase and delivery story are horrible but I will spare you all the crappy details. Yesterday my car died as I was making a left hand turn on a busy Yonkers, NY street. I know now that I was sold a lemon. This will be my third service appointment after only having the car for 6 months (due to Volvo losing my plates and having the car sit all of February so its only 6 instead of 7 months). Here are some of the current issues; constant low oil levels, lose doors, weird under carriage noises, whatever made it stall. I am so disappointed in Volvo. This is my second XC90 and I can truly say I will NEVER visit Hudson Valley Volvo again. read more

I live in westchester, and Stefan was fantastic - he allowed me to speak with him first via text and phone, he took pictures and videos, allowing me to do remote due diligence before committing to the purchase. I took the train from tarrytown, and Stefan met me at the train station and gave me a lift to the dealer. The actual day of purchase was smooth and easy. I originally went into the dealership looking at a used Subaru they had listed for sale on their website. Upon arriving at the dealership I was greeted by Stefan who was extremely helpful and professional. Stefan was knowledgeable in the Subaru and when I remarked about the size is just a bit too small he kindly showed me a used V60 cross country that they had that was comparable in price to what I was looking at. What an incredible experience. We did not walk in looking for a high end new Volvo, our needs were simple. Put us in a used Fiat 500 for commuting purposes. They had 10 to choose from and they were all excellent. As luck would have it, we wound up dealing with Dan the service manager. This unusual experience began with a light hearted exchange and turned into being the most pleasurable buying experience, even with a trade in. Honestly, I was not going to negotiate or deal with anybody but Dan after spending 5 minutes with him. Dan of course handed us over to Diego who went with us on our test drives. What a lovely and knowledgable young man. We made the deal on Thursday and picked up the car today. SO CUTE this little car is. I am very displeased with the service, or lack thereof, I received today. I stopped by to research my next vehicle and upon entering I wasn't greeted by anyone - not one person including the young lady at the front desk. My lease is up at the end of the year and I made the mistake of mentioning that fact. From that point on I felt as if Stephan was just going through the motions. He asked what kind of car I had currently. It's a moot point if I am there considering my next one. Is it common practice to test drive the vehicle alone and not have the vehicle's amenities explained by the rep? Is it common practice to point through the glass to show me what car I should look at while he stands inside unlocking it with the fob? Is it good form to say that I would be emailed with the specs/trims of the vehicle I was interested in and not receive anything by close of business? If I'm sitting in your dealership it's because I've done the preliminary research with regards to costs and what I'm looking for in a car. In fact, this isn't my first Volvo and wanted to see the changes in the vehicles since my last one. Just because I wasn't walking out with a car today, I guess good customer service or basic manners were not required. In spite of the 200 mile distance we had to travel, they held the car until we could come see it two weeks later. Awful dealership from our experience. Bought a car with this week, hasn't even been seven days and the third issue has left us stranded in the cold waiting for a tow truck. The man Dan blows you off when you call with a condescending attitude. We have to thirty days to return it and we will having it towed directly back to the dealership. I was an out of state buyer and purchased a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander from Hudson Valley Volvo. If you haven't bought out of state before let me tell you its a pain in the ass but when I shop I look for the best deal in the country not just my home state of California (L.A. Dealerships are overpriced!). I worked with Tom and Mindy and they did a great job handling everything which is a lot of phone calls, fedex and throw in a notary since I wouldn't be there in person. Getting a vehicle shipped is also a pain in the ass and the pickup date changed very last minute. Tom was willing to meet the shipper on Sunday at the dealership even though they were closed for the day. I got a great deal and am very happy with the purchase. Thanks! read more
