So I went to the Hudson hardware store today to buy something for our lawn mower. A sign at the front store states: No mask, no entry. I saw 4 male teenagers walk into the store without masks and they were just mowing around the store. Nobody stopped them to question them why they had no masks on! Also, 2 employees at the yard service area also had no masks on. Why do you have a sign at the front door requiring masks if you do not enforce it especially when a lot of your customers are seniors?!? read more

Went there with full intentions to buy a zero turn mower. May not be a lot to others but dropping $3500 on a mower is a big deal to me. I had done tons of research and was ready to buy. Others say they had a great staff??????? That's not what I saw. The young lady at the cash register welcomed me and was pleasant. After that NO ONE said a word to me. NO ONE! As I'm standing there in the middle of all the mowers enjoying see all the commercial mowers no one offered any help or said they'd be there in a minute or an hour (lol). But I probably would of waited an hour. I was that ready to buy. Eye contact was made with 3 employees but that was it. I even raised my hands like I was doing a jumping jack. After 15 minutes of enjoying the eye candy I walked out for the last time. read more

Worst place for lawn mower service. I took my Husqvarna mower for service paid them $330+ and after 2 mowing, the mower died in the middle of 3rd mowing. Took it back to them after just few days over 30 day warranty period. Paid another $155+ for supposedly over heating due to grass accumulation around the engine fins. They replaced the overhead gasket. This time it died again in the middle of 2nd mowing. So I waited 30 minutes for it to cool off, restarted and off I go. So I assumed the over heating issue was not correctly fixed. Took it back to them and this time it is supposedly degraded cap gasket particles in the fuel tank. Would cost another $55+. I told them not to fix and I will pick it up. Say that is true. So first time around, they changed the fuel filter and fuel lines. Why? Didn't they see the degraded cap gasket in the tank or didn't see the grass around the fins? "Honesty is such a lonely word!" When I got there to pick up my mower, they told if I had 45 minutes, they will fix it at no charge. Made it sound like a charity deal! I said no. After almost $500 and three trips, they should have done it before asking for another $55. It was an oversight from them when they serviced it in the first place or 2nd time, they did something that was not the problem. I will never go to this place again. I don't think they are being truthful and doing a lousy job. read more

Be certain to take a photo of any equipment that you leave for service. I left a string trimmer for an estimate a week ago. It was complete with no missing parts. Also the service rep did not make any notation of missing parts when I dropped it off. When I picked my trimmer up today some of the plastic trim was missing. The Hudson service rep denied that they could have lost the trim, and did not offer any apologies or attempt to appease me. read more

The staff is one of the best as they are quick to help. The outdoor equipment parts shop is great and very helpful. You can also fill your LP Gas tank for your grill for a whole lot less than those crazy exchange places at the grocery store. read more

My 65+ year old mother went here to buy a toilet snake (aka auger). My mother specified she needed one for the toilet. The associate there sold her one that looks similar to this one - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sink-Pipe-Drain-Cleaner-Unblocker-Auger-Unblock-Plunger-with-7-5M-Snake-Cable-/251098104105 After getting it home and helping my mom use it to snake out her toilet, we discovered on the label that the one sold to her was actually for a sink. We took it back and was not able to get a refund, exchange or issued store credit. The guy with the earring, (who I guess was the manager), assured it would work. After using this thing several times with no results, she ended up having to call a plumber because what this "manager" said was not true. The plumber came with the auger specifically needed for a toilet. This was the only equipment he used. The associates, as well as the "manager," need to be trained in knowing what they sell and not to make statements to justify their lack of knowledge just to make a sale. A sink auger Does Not Work In A Toilet and it Damages The Porcelain! As a senior citizen - female - novice do it yourself type person, this store was not helpful! We will not do business at this store ever again! The only reason it received one star is because I couldn't post a review without making a selection. I am thrilled that I walked though the doors of Hudson's Hardware yesterday. I was on the market for a lawn mower and had been to the big box stores, and was disappointed in the level of product knowledge at those stores. I needed HELP understanding the differences, and what worked for my yard! Hudson's helped me do just that. Being an amateur with lawn maintenance I walked away with an understanding of what I was buying, how to use it (yes there was a demo), and how to care for and store my new equipment. NO ONE will ever do that for you at a national chain, I have no doubt. They even fueled the darn things for me, so I was good to go!!!! read more

I bought a commercial mower from Hudsons. I paid $1895.00. The person that sold it to me over filled it with oil. When I started it the next day after 2 minutes white smoke came out so thick I could not see through the cloud. I brought it back immediately. They sucked out the excess oil and said it was fine. I took it back out and it died after ten minutes. It would not run for more than ten minutes at a time. I took it back and a week later they called and said it was water in the tank. I told them none of my other equipment had problems with the gas and they needed to fix the actual problem. He said he would look into it. I never heard back from them. After two months of them having the mower I went in and tried to get a refund. They said they would try and sell it for me but no refund. Looks like I'm dealing with liars and thieves. Very dishonest and now I have to go through the trouble of going to small claims. Buyer Beware!!! read more
