Loved every minute I was here! From checking in to checking out. Didn't wait long to be taken to the back. The person that did my hair, forgot her name unfortunately, was AMAZING. She explained everything she was doing, offered me a drink, and she did not hurt me while she was detangling my hair. MAJOR KEY! The atmosphere was relaxing. The products she used smelled great. I started visiting Huetiful on Christmas Eve 2014 and I have had a great experiences with each visit. Patricia B. is my stylist and she delivers every time. The Nano treatments have really strengthened my hair, it has grown over 2" since December. I've had highlights by Kyra and she is an amazing colorist I get compliments everywhere I go. I go regularly every 2-3 weeks and the service is impeccable. I have yet to visit a perfect salon .....but the service and pricing bring this salon close in my book. read more

I had my first appointment at the Huetiful Salon today. I had a very good experience. My stylist was Patricia and she was great at recommending products for my hair in regards to my frizz and shrinkage. She was also down to earth and easy to talk to. The salon atmosphere was modern and clean. My favorite part of the salon is the music. It was good to hear neo soul and R&B music playing in the salon. I will definitely be visiting Hueltiful Salon again in the near future. Also, there's a store right next to the salon called, Curl Kitchen, that sells hair products for natural hair. I tried two different stylist and was pleased with both on different levels. PLEASE READ!!!!!! This place was AMAZING! I loved the ambiance of the salon, the staff were extra nice, and the service was great. My Stylist Daria was so polite and did a great job educating me about the condition of my hair. She recommended that I do the NanoSmoothing Treatment because my hair was so dry and brittle. She explained that it will last up 8-12 weeks and that IF I decided to get color, braids, or a sew-in afterwards that my hair would be strong enough to handle it. Also, as a first time client, I got %20 off! The style that I got was a blowout that I wore for 3 weeks. I also noticed that my hair was not so prone to frizz, and lasted straight longer than expected despite the winter weather. Since the NanoSmoothing Treatment, My hair has reverted back to its natural state, only its softer and more bouncy than ever!!!! Seriously, I cant express enough the dramatic change my hair feels. I was excited to try this place but unfortunately had a very bad experience here with Akina the stylist. I took my 17 year old there to get a wash, deep conditioning, and possibly a "trim" on her natural (heat-free) and shoulder length hair. This expectation was explained to Akina. After returning to salon, I was shocked to see the majority of my daughter's hair cut off. Long story short, my daughter was traumatized, extremely emotional, and embarrassed by her experience. After we left, daughter told me that Akina never asked her about her haircare regimen, never asked her what her hair goals were, and most importantly NEVER shared with her that she was going to chop off most of her hair. In fact she told my daughter she was only going to cut off a little (i.e. trim it) while she had already started cutting. The end result was several inches off to the point where my daughter can no longer put in ponytail (she's a ballet dancer and required to wear a bun). My daughter or I never agreed to this! If the stylist's plan was to do a major cut on a first time client, it would have been helpful if she explained her intentions or given my daughter the option to cut it off gradually over a short time..especially to maintain a ponytail for buns. Instead, this was not done. I must add that my daughter had already gotten a trim 3 mos. before and her hair was not severely damaged. Not only did Akina fail to inform us how much hair she was cutting but she did a terrible cutting job...the haircut is lopsided (asymmetric) and a very distinct haircut that my daughter can do nothing with. There's also several strands of long original hair floating around. I don't understand how a professional stylist can do this to someone and NEVER explain her plan. Additionally my daughter's hair still feels dry and had alot of flaky gel falling off a day after. I'm stunned, disappointed, and saddened by this whole experience. I did speak to the salon manager who was very apologetic and understanding about the situation. I typically don't write reviews but want to avoid this happening to others. Akina has a nice personality but I hope going forward (after this situation) that she will consult with her clients and talk to them about their hair care routines, goals, and her intentions before doing a major cut and style!!! Sorry this will be long winded but, honesty is so important when money is involved. I am a 4A natural girl. With curls and coils all over my head. I would NOT recommend this salon to any curly/coily natural that desires to wear/have her hair styled naturally. Ok let me state why backed up by my horrible experience: My appointment was at 12:30 with Sherri Singleton. I was there about 30 minutes early and was greeted with coffee and a new member/client form where I filled out my hair care journey. At this point I was like COOL, good vibes were had. Shortly after someone grabbed me to shampoo my hair, she was very sweet, took her time, and was gentle with me. While I was being shampooed my stylist Sherri walked over very unprofessional looking in jordans and looked at me and said in a not so kind tone "your getting a wash and go?" And proceeded to look at my hair as if me and a wash and go would be an issue. She gave the girl shampooing me some tips to use and then went about her way. SO at this point all my fears were actualized, I could tell after my odd greeting from Sherri my damn stylist I was in for a long day. She gave me a weak handshake (sign of untrustworthiness) and proceeded to scrutinize my style option and choice (plain rudeness). No hello how are u? NOTHING. So I'm shook at this point. The friendly washer proceeded to put me under the steamer. Half way thru my steam here comes Sherri checking to see my hair. She made some comments about at this point IF I HAD CURLS they should be popping at this point and she is unsure she can do a wash and go. I proceeded to ask her, because I know my hair has curls and coils if she was only used to doing certain types of hair (I.e "looser textures) and she said my hair is just really TIGHT and doesn't have curls and she said "I'm just picky" YALL SHE SAID SHES JUST PICKY... like? She even looked at my hair in disgust and said "have u ever done a wash and go?" I said YES MA'AM and proceeded to show her document proof of my texture and curls... At this point if I was not confident in who I am as a Black woman with beautiful TYPE 4 hair I would be devastated and hating what grew out my scalp. Like I woulda questioned this whole journey. This stylist made it seem as if I was a problem, my thick type 4 hair was a problem, there are other textures that she prefers etc. I question the anti-Blackness and idealization of Eurocentric beauty standards that brew in her mind and body... get well soon. At this point I was done. So I told Sherri just forget the wash and go and I'll be about my way, just dry me up. I don't want her touching another inch of my head. She said she would put some styling cream on it. she used the deva curl super cream (which my hair hates!) and told me the next time I come to get a finger coil not a wash and go because I don't have curls (rolling eyes, I have curls damnit---and natural hair isn't about achieving CURLS tf?) so she proceeded to finger coil some of my hair and throw me under the dryer. I left with ashy white hair from the product and on the whole way home it flaked all over me. When I got home and shampooed, deep conditioned, geled my own hair... what do u know all my beautiful 4A curls came to show their pretty selves! Word to the wise, I wouldn't ever choose this salon for my curly hair needs again. All the styles I saw leaving the salon were straight styles. 60$ down the drain. But I'll chalk it up to the game. I would never advise anyone to see Sherri, she's unprofessional, rough, combs thru tangles with no give, rude, and uneducated on natural hair. Be good to your hair and go somewhere else! read more

So, I wanted my hair colored. Unfortunately, I went to Huetiful and came out with chemical burns and orange hair! Distraught, I paid the DISCOUNTED price and went home in tears. My stylist, Sterling, offered a free color correction appointment the following week. I accepted. Later I got a call from Huetiful saying they wanted to put with me a different stylist, again, complimentary. They assured me she had been briefed on my situation and I would be taken care of. Instead, I got there, she had no idea who I was and why I was asking her to fix my orange hair. She told me she was double booked and said she would squeeze me in. UNBELIEVABLE. Patiently, I proceed with the appointment. She's nice, and she escalates my situation to the operations manager, Chanel, who promises to reimburse me for the first appointment. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I give Huetiful one star for its poor customer service and terrible management. It's a dirty salon attempting to appear high-end. Skip it. I had scheduled recurring appointments with the young lady who fixed my color (to the best of her ability. My roots are still lighter than the ends), but I've since canceled. Why bother. read more

I have been to the Huetiful Salon twice and received services from Monique C. on both occasions. Scheduling was online so it was difficult deciding which stylist to book an appointment with but I made a great decision. Monique is extremely nice and also a low-key perfectionist so I never leave dissatisfied. On both visits, I received the Hydrating & Conditioning Treatment with a flat iron for styling. I think the value is great for the services received. I also love how a trim is included with all of the services. I'm looking forward to trying a protective style on my next visit. I did not have to wait but I also scheduled during the week in the evenings. The salon is very inviting. I own a Huetiful steamer at-home but I just feel like I get a better steam experience under the salon's steamer which is of course stand-alone and has a larger hood. As a girl who's been natural for 11+ years, I have not been a big fan of salons based on their prices and lack of experience dealing with natural hair. However, I am in love with the Huetiful Salon and will be making room in my budget to visit at least once per month. read more

The website provides a telephone number in which by the admission of a business partner admits that the voicemail messages are rarely checked by the in-house staff. Makes no eye contact when speaking to a customer, all the while cradling her cellphone on her neck while "talking" to you, and then proceeds to tell you that someone called you to cancel an appointment that is 48 hours away without producing proof while the customer is in possession of a text message that asks for confirmation 48 hours prior to the same appointment. The first time I visited I did the $60 treatment and a blow dry/flatiron. My hair came out beautifully and was very moisturized, which it desperately needed. I was in Chicago supporting a friend running the Bank of America Marathon, and I used my free time to look for natural black hair stylists/salons. Where I currently live in TX, it's hard to find let alone keep a natural hair stylist. Recently I drove 2 hours out of my area for a consultation that never happened due to absolutely poor customer service. Bottom line, It had been almost a year since my last salon visit, and my hair was struggling! I found Huetiful Salon after a quick search on the internet. Their web presence is great, their policies looked great, and the "Huetiful Hydrating & Conditioning Treatment" was definitely for me given the condition of my hair (so much in that package and at a reasonable price). I could only schedule an 8am appointment on the day of my flight back to TX, so alot was riding on my experience. Who knew it would take a trip from Texas to Chicago to get what I needed! Let me say emphatically that my stylist Yolunda hooked me up! Not only was she ready right at the time of my appointment, she was also very patient in hearing what I wanted, in consulting me about products and better ways to treat my hair, and she sold me on getting finger twists for the first time. She even let me try out doing twists myself to show me how easy they were. I couldn't stay long enough to get my twists dried and taken apart, but Yolunda gave me the instructions I needed to do them myself when I got back to Texas. Even with my style half-way done, I got complimented all the way from Huetiful to O'Hare and back to Texas!! The best part of all was feeling utterly fabulous on my Birthday, which was the day after my salon experience. Compliments just flowed in, and still do. Huetiful is the best salon by far. The stylists book appointments with accurate time slots so there's no wait time. The ambiance is amazing and semi-mellow. The best feature is that they are open 7 days a week. Tasheara is my "go to" stylist. She's awesome and very personable. On my first visit she explained the Huetiful experience and the deep conditioning treatment thoroughly and didn't seem annoyed with all my questions. I explicitly told my stylist, Nahja Williams, that I wanted a straight part because I didn't get one during my last visit in October. She turned my chair around handed me the mirror and what did I see "ANOTHER FRIGGIN CROOKED PART!!?" The receptionist comped my service and then asked me to follow up with Chanel Robinson, Salon Manager. Chanel was extremely rude and condescending. Chanel talked over me while I was expressing my concern and then had the nerve to tell me that I didn't know how to communicate. WTF?! THIS is what we're calling "CUSTOMER SERVICE" now??? Wow!!! What a wonderful experience!!! Nina was AWESOME, KNOWLEDGEABLE and very Helpful. She explained everything to me and didn't make me stupid for asking a bunch of questions!! The shop is very clean and calm. I was very comfortable there. I received the conditioning and color treatments. My hair turned out fabulously!!! The only downside was the amount of time I was there. I don't have long hair at all, (I did the big chop) and I was there for four hours! But I will still go back. I want my hair to grow and I have to stop sitting in the barbershop. If you want to gamble on your hair with a stylish then good luck. I attended this salon on 7/2/19. The stylish had myself and my daughter for an appointment. This stylish passed my daughter to another stylish stating she couldn't do both. After the stylish completed my services for a wash and go with an extra conditioner, she applied a white gel on my edges. I wanted my hair done for work to look as professional as possible. The issue was the stylish told me I can do this at home, She Recommended a rod and set and trim for the next time. After my daughter hair was done beautifully by some other stylish. The look on the front desk people spoke volumes. I gave the stylish a tip for her time. My daughter was furious because she said mom you paid for your hair and your hair isn't styled. 90 dollars for a wash and go. You can't go to work looking like that. I looked in the mirror and I was very pissed. My hair was hard from the setting lotion applied to my hair a wrap foam and hair edge gel. I paid 90 dollars for this. My hair wasn't combed either. My hair had a part in it. I made a repeat appointment 7/20/19. I the cancel it online. This salon is marketed as a pro-black natural hair salon. Too bad the salon owner doesn't care about the service the client receives. My daughter did notice lots of cancelations for the day. My daughter loves her hair. She got the right stylish. I got the wrong stylish on 7/2/19. My stylish was about making money with very little effort. This salon isn't worth the money. I wish I never came. I thought I would have fabulous hair as well being it was my first visit to the salon. The salon got a five star rating from me on the salon website for 6/4/19 because of my daughter hair. My daughter got her hair photograph by her stylish who completed her hair flawlessly 7/2/19. All I got for my hair was blank faces from the front desk staff. Do not go to this salon. I was cut yesterday by stylist Monique Clay at the Chicago location and I couldn't have had a better experience. I came in with my hair already styled in a twistout for a Curly Cut. Of course, my hair is very important to be and I was a bit nervous for the cut. However, the staff were friendly, professional and made me feel comfortable right away. Monique was extremely knowledgeable about natural hair and you could tell that she had a true passion for doing hair. She answered all of the questions I had with ease. I showed Monique a few pictures of my desired shape, and she showed me exactly what she planned to cut to ensure that she wasn't taking too much off. I was left with a beautiful shape-even better than what I had in mind! After the wash and steam treatment, my hair has never felt better. Monique styled my hair in flat twists for me to take out later, and even gave me some product recommendations for my hair. Long story short, I'm in love with my cut! Today was my first time there. The people seem to be nice and my shampoo and styled was great!! The only thing I need to share with you ladies is to keep an eye on your purse. While I was getting my hair washed and enjoying the sensation of a great shampoo, someone took ALL my cash out of my purse. I noticed that when I wanted to pay for my great first time hair visit. First timer and it will be my last time. I wanted to support a local black salon but this was awful. I booked online without any issues. Then I received a call from the salon asking me if I could move my time back 2 hours or could I come in 2 hours before. WTH?? Why is the time slot available? Then I was called again and asked if I could detangle my own hair before coming to the salon. WTH??? I said no this is what I'm paying $100 for. This is so unprofessional I am in total disbelief. Also it's 2:33 I had a 2:00 appointment guess where me and four other paying customers are. Sitting!!! Never again. Never! Oh I was switched from one stylist to two others!!! read more

My 1st visit was terrible... but the 2nd time was a charm! I waited 4 weeks until after my 2nd appt to see if my view would change. THANK GOODNESS this time I was extremely happy!! In true Yelp fashion though, I will give the real deal about both visits and won't sugar coat my 1st 2-star experience but will also rave about my lovely 2nd time 5-star visit. TIP: There is no "HUETIFUL" sign on the building, so look for the address. It's located next door to the public library, and there's free street parking but only enough space for a handful of cars. Unlike most salons, their timeliness is impressive. You have to make appointments online with a credit card hold. If you cancel less than 24 hrs in advance or arrive more than 15 mins late, you will get charged the full amount and will not be serviced. I like this policy! If a salon is going to respect my time and get me in and out without overbooking or delays, the least I can do is show up on time for my appointment. And the price is fantastic! Starting at $65 you get a steam condition treatment, trim (if needed), and style options off the Menu 1 list (e.g. press, twist out, bantu knot out, flat twists). The price goes up based on styling options and trims over half an inch are considered a cut for an additional $25. One downside is that the number to the salon is basically a general answering service. No live person answers the phone so if you have questions - good luck. I wanted to change my service from Menu 1 to Menu 2 and had no way of doing so without canceling my appointment and HOPING I could rebook for the same time. I called, left a message, emailed, but got no response so I just crossed my fingers and hoped she could squeeze in the time for my extended service. Huetiful should really figure out a better way. Perhaps post each stylist's number directly on the site. Starting with my 5-star review: Patricia was fantastic!!! I left smiling and had a mini photo shoot to show off my luscious curls after my appt. LOL I arrived early to see if I could start early given my menu change. Thankfully, she was ready for me and said she would work it out. I appreciated that she said if her next client came in, she would stop and attend to her in order to keep her schedule. I like that. She was willing to accommodate me but stay true to her other clients too. That's professional. I have dry scalp so I told her to make sure she washed me thoroughly. She had already said she noticed and was planning on it already! Observant and proactive. I like that too! I wanted a flexi rod set since I had never tried that style before and it turned out lovely! I got so many compliments before even leaving the salon, you couldn't tell me nothing! Aside from having a great salon and styling experience, Patricia was really cool, down to earth and easy to talk to. My friends know that I'm not really chatty like that - especially not at salons and my stylist at another salon is kind of mean frankly and doesn't talk very much LOL - so I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my overall experience. I will definitely pay Patricia another visit or two or three ;-) and recommend her to anyone who wants a clean, fresh style! Unfortunately my 1st visit with Tasheara sucked (no sugar coating). I desperately needed to re-wash my hair within just 2 days. Washing hair is a basic service I shouldn't have to stress about. It wasn't until after she had blow-dried my hair for my press that she said my scalp wasn't clean. Considering she was the only person attending to me during the visit, I was shocked!! How are you just now noticing this? At the bowl she had even commented on how detangling and brushing during the wash really helped to better cleanse the scalp. Wrong. So at this point, wouldn't you think she would re-wash my hair? I mean, no way, she's going to style a client's not-so-clean hair right? Wrong again. She said, "I'm just not going to flat iron all the way to the root since your scalp isn't clean." Umm, so a) you didn't wash my hair properly and b) my roots won't be smooth. Great, what a disappointing waste of time and money! I was pissed. That was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard or experienced. I was initially going to do a twist out and Tasheara said I would only need a light dusting of my ends. However when I switched to a press, she said I needed a full INCH cut off! That's the tough dilemma of trimming wet vs. dry. I've been natural for 8.5 years and have done both and the frustrating dilemma still remains. I hate wearing my hair straight but whenever I do it seems I always need so much taken off yet when I rock a curly style, I barely get a dusting. I went to Huetiful for the first time on 8/18 and my appointment was with Charnelle. She's a sweetheart and was very nice. I got a rod set in small sections and she did it with flexi rods. It came out really nice but now 2 days later the style is gone, and I am in the process of re-doing my hair right now so I can be presentable at work tomorrow. I've been natural almost 2 years now and my hair is pretty soft and has been notorious for not being able to hold styles long(because of this softness) -- so I'm not blaming her. Just saying, but it's only been 2 days and I need my hair done again. The salon itself is okay. Based on what I'd heard and as particular as their policies are I was expecting it to be super upscale (which I think is their goal) -- not exactly the case. Their prices are also extremely high, like unbelievably high. My rod set was $105.00 but with it being my first time I got a 15% discount -- but once I gave gratuity to my stylist, I still ended up paying $105.00...... $100.00 for a style that lasted 2 days??? There's no way I could afford to come to this salon on a regular basis, lol. While my experience in the salon wasn't bad and I was in and out in a decent amount of time and I liked the stylist I had (Charnelle), their policy of collecting my credit card info in advance is a big turnoff. Also with it being my first time there, I had some trouble finding the salon. There is no real signage and the salon is in a brownstone, that's kind of hidden behind some trees. I'm interested in coloring and possibly cutting my hair and am considering having Charnelle do it, so I made a follow up appointment.....However reading a lot of these reviews on here I'm honestly kind of scared now. And the prices are just outrageous. I feel that the service I received wasn't worth $105 and could've been a lot less. And I can only imagine what the color/cut that I want will probably cost. While I was in there I was looking at other people coming and going and saw a lot of mediocrity honestly, which is just kind of disappointing considering how high their prices are. Also both stylists that I was referred to by family/friends no longer work there. I'm hearing now (and reading in these reviews) that the stylist turnover is really high, and that kind of scares me also. Let's start with the good... The stylists that I've encountered at Huetiful Salon seem knowledgeable about caring for and styling natural hair. I've been there twice and each time I left with great satisfaction. However this weekend left me highly disappointed in their scheduling/management abilities. I scheduled an appointment for May 23rd at 12:30 for a blowout. Let me stress that I made this appointment weeks before. My appointment was confirmed over the phone and via text message the day before. Imagine my disappointment when I got a call from the stylist telling me she had a client currently getting a color service and it's taking longer than usual so my appointment has to be delayed. She stated the receptionist will call me back to let me know what time I could come in for my appointment. The receptionist called me back and stated the next time I could get was 4 PM with another stylist I had never worked with. I was pretty upset because I had things planned (its Memorial Day weekend after all) after getting my hair done which I had to reschedule because of this. However I accepted this time because I really needed to get my hair done. At about 1:30 PM I get a call from the receptionist telling me they had a glitch in the system and my 4 PM appointment is no longer valid and that I would have to get my hair done at 8pm. I was livid. How is there a glitch in the system when the appointment for 4pm was done over the phone and confirmed by the receptionist. My complaints about this yielded no results. The receptionists then asks if I wanted to speak with their manager. I said yes, she says I'll give you her email. Now when handling an issue that needs resolving right away with an angry customer because of errors that were made by you, you don't ask the customer to be further inconvienced by emailing your manager, you either resolve the situation or have the manager come to the phone and resolve it. I told her no, I will not email the manager and I need to get my hair done latest 5pm. She says she'll have someone call me back before 5pm. Few minutes later receptionist calls me again stating that 8pm would be the only time I could be serviced and it will be complimentary or If I choose to reschedule it will be complimentary as well. I told her I could afford to pay for the service, my time however is priceless. I told her I felt like I wasn't been accommodated appropriately considering they initially messed up my appointment. She put me on hold, came back and said that stylist would take me at 4pm. I was so worked up and upset at this time i didn't even want to set foot in that establishment so I canceled that 4pm. You see, I was very excited about the concept of Huetiful salon when I first heard of it. Like I mentioned earlier I have been happy with my hair service. I have also referred a couple of friends to this place but this experience left a very bitter taste. I'm not sure what really happened that day from their end whether they double booked, glitch in the system or someone decided to put another customer in my appointment slot... I don't know but bottom line is I was jerked around all day and no one took into consideration that my time was as valuable as theirs (they charge 50% for late cancellations). read more

Egregiously unprofessional. Previously loved this salon but will NEVER return. This weekend is my graduation from college and obviously a large event in my life, so I trusted Huetiful with my hair (they have previously done my hair on my birthday and I had a great experience.) My roommate is also natural so I recommended she book an appointment the same time as me so we could go together. We rented a zipcar to drive to the salon (its pretty far because we live in Evanston). We left Evanston at 10:40am for our noon appointment, but were caught in heavy traffic during a terrential downpour. I called the salon twice around 11:30 and was sent straight to voicemail, where I let them know our situation which was completely out of our control. Finally, we arrive at the salon at 12:16. We are told that the 15 minute grace period has ended and I remind them that I called to let them know in advance. The extremely rude receptionist lets me know that my friend's stylist will honor her appointment. However, my stylist has not only canceled my appointment, but charged me the late fee. This situation could not have been handled worse for the following reasons: 1. When I booked my appointment I was not alerted of this policy at ALL and received no confirmation email 2. Nor did I receive a reminder email for my appointment with this information listed 3. The lateness was out of our control and my efforts to communicate the lateness was ignored 4. They honored my friend's appointment but not mine, though I recommended her and am a repeat customer. When I tried to get them to squeeze me, the receptionist rudely said it was impossible because of my hair type (my friend is 3b) even though I was already detangled 5. I called my credit card company and I was charged at 12:10, DURING the grace period 6. Their honoring one appointment but cancelling another shows a true lack of investment in customer service. You are taking chances when selecting a stylist!! When my friend brought up the policy to her stylist the stylist had never even heard of it. This gives each stylist the ability to mistreat customers at their will 7. I never received a receipt for the unfair charge, which is ILLEGAL. Businesses may not charge customer credit cards without their consent/knowledge and providing proof of purchase 8. I made it clear that I would be willing to wait but my efforts were ignored by ALL STAFF. I have never felt more disrespected. The plus side is I went to MENAS around the corner and they did a GREAT job and charged me with my full consent at a fair price huetiful - you will never survive long term with this brand of customer service. You should not be more in favor of your wishy washy policies (only applied to certain people at certain times) then the paying CUSTOMER. I demand a full refund and apology. I will NEVER make the huge mistake of recommending another natural haired woman to this atrocity of a business. What a disgrace. RE: the comment below from the owner, your comment is utterly useless to me because of the points #1 and #2 that i clearly laid out above. I received absolutely NO indication of these policies because I received no emails from you. None. At all. Your comment also does nothing to acknowledge the other pressing issues I have addressed, including how my appointment was canceled but my friend's was not. Instating such a policy without carrying it out consistently is unethical and poor business practice. Your attempt at communication has only left a worse taste in nu mouth about your business. This review is more so about the stylist Yonous at Huetiful as opposed to the salon. Yonous is one of the best stylists I've been to in the 10 years I've lived in Chicago. She is sweet, kind, and thoughtful and amazing at sew ins and blow outs. She is very gentle with your hair and I would recommend anyone to go check her out. She also does the hair of 3 of my friends and we have all had the same positive experiences. She suggested different methods for me to take care of my hair outside of the shop and the texture/moisture of my previously dry/unruly natural hair improved within the month. I have to admit that I do miss getting relaxers and the way that styles lasted a long time, but can't really get them anymore so Huetiful is a great option. However, it is REALLY expensive for me so I don't go as often as I'd like to. My hair does feel nice after the steaming and styling, but I've found that Sterling's styles last longer than the others that I've tried there. So several months ago I decided to cut all the color out of my premature gray hair. This left me with alot more grey than I realized I had. I didn't want to make any hasty decisions so I waited 4 months before deciding to return to color. I HATED MY COLOR and was in desperate need of a Devacut. Previously, I had found a curly hair salon in which I was very happy with but unhappy with my one way 80 minute commute. After a freind recommend Huetiful, I made an appointment for a color consultation, color and Devacut. Unfortunately, I had to wait 3 painful weeks for an appointment as a struggled to continue to wear my grey growing curly afro. After waiting 3 weeks for my appointment, I received a call the morning prior from my colorist asking if I could move my services times around. I agreed just as long as my cut would be accommodated appropriately. She said she'd figure it out and call me back within 1 hour. Well, I never received a call back from my colorist. However, my stylist did contact me the evening before my morning appointment to basically inform me that she was booked and couldn't provide me with a cut as scheduled but I could get my color services and return another day for my Devacut (40 min drive one way). She apologized several times but it doesn't make my situation any better. I have an engagement upcoming and I am now stuck! When booking appointments online Huetiful stresses how busy they are and stresses their cancelation policies. Well last week something unexpectedly came up at the same day and time as my previously booked services. In light of Huetifuls cancelation policy, I had to do some "creative" manouvering in an effort to keep my scheduled appointment. This continues to add to my disappointment. I'm not really sure went wrong here. But to say I'm now reluctant is an understatement. Huetiful is pretty pricey and seems to pride itself to be a somewhat of a unique experience. I would agree with the unique experience as I have never heard of or experienced such a issue with a business! I wish I could provide more information regarding Huetifuls services but its looking very unlikely. Part 2... I decided to go in for my color appointment as it was after 8pm before I realized I would be unable to obtain both services that I originally scheduled and I had a professional event to attend in a couple of days and was REALLY in need of a color and cut. After discussing the situation with my husband, he convinced me to give them another try. Afterall, they are 30 minutes closer to home than where I usually frequent. So I did - MISTAKE!!! When I walked it the salon seemed clean and decorated nicely. Everyone seemed very pleasant. But it seemed as though there was little to no ventilation; as I began to start coughing as soon as walked in. They scheduled me to return the following Tuesday for my Devacut. Although I was happy with my color results, other than a slew of apologies, I received absolutely no financial consideration, even after explaining the hardships their scheduling error placed on me including a 40 minute drive each way without traffic. Tuesday morning, I receive a call from Huetiful Salon explaining to me that I had an appointment 30 minutes prior to the call. I explained that I had left a voicemail message the day prior cancelling my appointment (I went elsewhere for my cut). The woman proceeds to tell me that their policy doesn't allow for cancelations on the voicemail and that I will incur a fee of 50% of my service!!!! Yes. The service I scheduled for 1 week ago!!! Apparently, Huetiful Salons time is way more valuable than mine that they feel entitled to be compensation for their wasted time! THE AUDACITY! After insisting to speak with the owner, she tells me she can put me in touch with the manager via email. I told her I was not wasting another second of my life fooling with their sloppy selfish shenanigans and they better not charge my credit card or else!!!! I can not recall dealing with such unprofessional management in my life. I would never ever grace Huetiful with my presence again - not even for free! I had a 7:00am appointment scheduled. I arrive at the salon and no one is there. My appointment was with Latasha Thompson she nor anyone at the salon notified me of any scheduling conflicts or any reason why my appointment would not be taking place. This was a major inconvenience, I was leaving town the same day and had to leave without my hair done. Prior to my appointment they sent me several reminders via email and text message reminding me of the time, day, stylist, and services I would be receiving. I don't understand why go through the trouble of making sure the client remembers their appointment just to not show up? New comers please beware you can make an appointment but it's a high chance you won't receive any services. read more

The Huetiful team is talented however the salon operations are less than lackluster. I've tried calling the salon several times and the phone number is either disconnected or off the hook, making it impossible to make changes to an appointment or contact your stylist. To add, you have to present a credit card to book an appointment, giving them a perfect opportunity to charge "late" or "no show" fees when in fact, the salon is unreachable. The only reason this gets 2 stars is because the stylist I met with prior was very nice and got me in and out in the time she said she would. The silk press I received was honestly not the greatest. I could have done that style at home. For the money I paid, I was not blown away at all. So now to why I will NEVER return to Huetiful again. I had an emergency come up and had to cancel my appointment outside of the 24 hour window. Do you know they had the audacity to charge my card $35!!! Pissed is not even the word. It's bad enough I paid $75 for a service that was barely worth anything, something I honestly could have done myself with a straightening serum, high end blow dryer (which I went to purchase last night to avoid ever having to go to the salon again) and a decent flat iron, but to charge my card a convenience fee is absurd. I would not even recommend this salon to a wet dog. All I can say is enter at your own risk. Anytime you have to sign a contract at a so called beauty parlor you can rest assured that you're most likely signing your soul over to the devil. read more

Lonyae is spectacular! My hair has been brought back from the dead. I got a blow out and a much needed and overdue trim. I got there early, and she took me before my scheduled appoointment. I have been natural for 14 years and always hesitant to step in the salon for fear of heat damage, stylist insistent on keratin treatments, frequent straightening and other recommendations that don't fit the scope of my needs. I liked the fact that she didnt want to chop everything with my one little spot that i had breakage in. I am not one for commitment, but I did make a follow-up appointment before I walked out the salon after my first appointment. read more
