They sent a text with pictures of what they found and explained anything/everything I asked about. Again, very much appreciated! I ended up needing new lower front rocker arms & bushings. They also performed an alignment (due to rocker arm replacement) oil change, tire balance & rotation and replaced the engine filter. I could see it was needed based on photos sent via the text. Jake found a replacement kit that included arms and bushings which saved me some money. Yay They also found the tires had been rotated improperly for an AWD. That really stood out to me because it showed they actually wanted to make sure the engine was worth fixing before spending more money. They found multiple issues like intake leaks, an injector problem, and a radiator leak, but I never felt pressured to fix everything at once. I really appreciated that they worked with me and let me prioritize what I could afford. I ended up fixing the main issue, and the misfire is now gone. The car is running much better. I reached out to several mobile mechanics through Yelp on Thursday evening, and Jim was the only one who responded initially. He was able to schedule us for Saturday afternoon, which was critical since we were supposed to head home that day. Another shop didn't have availability until Monday and the other high rated mobile mechanic was out of town. Because of storm-related commute issues earlier in the week, Jim ended up arriving around 4pm instead of noon. Totally understandable given the conditions. He worked outside in freezing weather and never complained once. Jim was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. He was great with my wife, my son, and even let our dogs jump on him and give him kisses. Despite the tough conditions, he got the job done and got us safely back on the road with a solid new CV axle so we could make it home as planned. I'd hire Jim again in a heartbeat. Not at all thrilled with the service received from Autobahn. Pricing felt high for the service we…read morereceived. Our Mini had a coolant leak so it was taken in for a diagnostic check, they determined it was the water pump. Diag is charged separate from the actual job needing done. Appointment was made to have it replaced. Car was dropped off with them saying they only needed it for a full day, that was a relief as both of us commute to work. So, we made arrangements to be without the car for that day. Unfortunately, we get the call that the car wasn't done when promised because they received the wrong part, frustrating on our end but stuff happens, I guess. We complain about the frustration and inconvenience of not having the car for the second day and the service writer offers a discount, which I thought was a nice gesture. Turns out his idea of an inconvenience was worth about $3 because that's how much of a discount he provided. Pretty insulting. Onto the actual service provided. Upon reviewing the receipt, I questioned the perceived subpar quality of water pump they installed. It was an off brand, and in my experience (30 years of shadetree experience), a low-quality part. And with the extensive amount of labor involved to replace said part, I was not happy. I was assured by the writer it was a quality part with him specifically stating "it has a metal impeller". Fast forward 8 or so months, the supercharger fails and needs replaced. On these Minis, the water pump is attached to the supercharger so it has to come back out. We chose a different shop to do the supercharger install and they advised to just do the water pump while it was apart so we did and in the end, we retained all of the parts that were removed. Low and behold, the water pump installed by Autobahn was NOT a metal impeller as promised by the writer. So that means he was either lying about it being metal or was incompetent and didn't actually know if it was or not. Either way, this is totally unacceptable and we will never be back to support this business.
