I was very hesitant in having my wife's car looked at. I myself do the maintenance on it, but part of the electrical system went out on it where the rear running lights, license plate light and the temp gauge lights went out. The fuse went bad each time i replaced. Troy quoted me an hour for the diagnosis where others quoted me 2 hours. There wasn't a whole lot of parking but there was enough. I had my car towed to his shop, and explained everything to him regarding my, "check engine light ". I explained that I had over $1200 in repairs last month for the same, Trouble Code. I called them from Tahoe with a broken serpentine belt and a clunking pulley on my 34 foot RV. I probably made 50 calls that day to shops in Carson City and Reno but nobody was able to either work on a rig that size or get me in before the following week. Not only were they able to get me in the following day, but they replaced the belt and 2 pulleys and had me back on the road the same day. I am so grateful to these guys! The engine is hard to reach and not easy to work on, but they did a great job for me. Highly recommended! read more

My daughter's car (2002 VW Cabrio) was not holding a charge and something was draining the battery. After running an amperage test with my volt meter at home, it was determined that the battery was losing somewhere around 5+ amps steadily with the battery connected and the car not running. I checked each fuse (pulling them out one at a time) and could not isolate the problem. After calling numerous auto "electric" car specialist repair shops, The Auto Hospital was the most reasonably priced to diagnose the issue for us. After making an appointment, I dropped the car off and was later called that the problem was discovered. It seems that one of the "diodes" in the alternator went bad (the alternator was brand new and purchased at a local parts store the week prior). After speaking with the mechanic at the Auto Hospital, he told me that if a diode goes bad in an alternator, it will be a constant drain on the battery. He suggested to have the alternator "bench tested" back at the auto parts store where I purchased it and have them replace the alternator, or purchase a better brand from another auto parts distributor. I chose to return it to the auto parts store. After all, I just spent $135.00 on the new alternator. After returning the alternator to the store, sure enough, the brand new alternator I had previously purchased was bad and didn't pass the "bench testing" as suggested by the mechanic. The alternator failed the diode testing. The replacement alternator was "bench tested" and found to be good, so it was installed in her car and her car is running great again without the battery drain issue. I appreciate the great and affordable service at the Auto Hospital. The diagnosis of her car was spot on and very reasonably priced. Other auto repair places in the Reno area wanted to charge me double of what the Auto Hospital charged (under $70). Thank you Auto Hospital, I appreciate the honest & affordable auto service!! I have been here twice in the last year to service a used Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I love these guys! The first time, my friend and I had installed some new O2 sensors so that I could pass smog. Unfortunately, there was also a short somewhere that I didn't know about and my diagnostics kept saying it was a new error on the sensors. Brought it in and they found it fairly quickly and fixed it up good. They also informed me about a few other things they found that didn't need to be fixed but to keep an eye on them and how to tell when they'd need fixed. Last week I had a very poor experience at another shop I visited when both my vehicles broke down within days of each other. This other shop promised they had the parts and the time and would fix it in the same day, on a weekend, but they never even pulled it in the garage to look at it. Two days later, in a bind, I brought the Jeep back to the Auto Hospital after a quick call, and by the end of the day it was done and ready to take home. They even took some extra time, after they were supposed to already be closed, to recheck everything and make sure everything was operating as normal after the job was complete. Even offered to top off the coolant in a couple days if I noticed it went low after the new stuff was through the system (had the radiator replaced). Real standup guys here. The prices are fair (not cheap, but not expensive ... they deserve what they get because it's done right the first time, which is basically a priceless feat) and the service is superb and quick. Knowledgeable and dedicated to a quality job done well. I was originally recommended here by a friend who is very good with vehicles, but when he needs help this is where he goes. I see no other reason to try anybody else ever again. read more

Had an oil change done and they did a very thorough inspection on my car. They found that my belt was cracking and starting to fray and if I had kept driving it it definitely would have fallen apart and destroyed who knows what else... the last place I had my oil changed didn't mention seeing anything wrong with my belt so I am very happy these guys did such a good inspection and caught that. They also let me know that my rear brake pads were very low and a few other things that the manufacturer recommends at certain milage for preventative maintenance. They didn't pressure me to buy everything they recommended which was awesome. I did replace the belt and did the oil change but that is all the money I had to spend rite then but I will definitely be going back here to have my brakes and the other things they recommended done. read more

Do NOT come here. They will scam you just as all the other Yelp reviews say. I wish so badly I would have checked the reviews before coming to this shit hole. Troy's son, Cody I believe, should not be working there. From the minute I walked in he was nonstop cussing and complaining about how much he hates his job and people. Then quit bud! Quit taking daddy's money. I had an appointment at 10am and was told they could replace my heat shield. They did NOT call me once with any updates and by 5pm I decided to go get my keys and to NEVER bring my car back. I told him when I walked in that my engine light was on and heat shield needs to be replaced. I did NOT need a diagnostic. I got a FREE one down the street from me. Got charged 150 for a "diagnostic" (did not explain anything on the paper given to me). They told me everything I already KNEW and already explained to them. Instead of Cody feeding me his entire life story, maybe go work on the cars! I also had to write in a report as he was telling me if people don't "treat him right" he will make sure they "blow up on the freeway". I did this report so if anything is wrong with my car after taking it here, they are to blame. I recorded everything said on my phone just in case. Was told I needed to pay 1,300 for a part needed for my car, and I call the dealership this morning and they say it is 300 and whoever said 1,300 is ripping me off. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Shout out to Cody and troy! These guys are awesome! All I needed was a power steering flush, no questions asked. I called various auto shops and all of them said they would need to charge me a $80 diagnostic before evening scheduling for the service regardless of what I already knew what MY car needed. I tried 1 more and thank you to The Auto Hospital for answering my call. It was a no problem, easy schedule, and move on forward from there. Of course they said they would take a look at it to make sure I needed that specific service done at no charge mentioned. These guys are honest people who know what they are doing. They are considerate for those who use their car as their main transportation. I will definitely be taking my services here from now on! read more

I cannot say enough negative things about this place. Cody.....hmmm, there's a guy who should not be at the front counter! Snarky, rude and does not keep his promise to stay in touch. Also, their rates are outrageous! $130 for the inspection -everyone else quoted between $75 and $100. Called all around town to see if someone could do an inspection on a 2002 Chevy Astro van I was considering buying. No one could look at the van for up to one week, but Cody (hmmm....) said yes he could look at it around 1:30pm that day. I dropped it off around 11:30/noon and while I was still there he handed the keys to a mechanic who pulled the van inside to do the inspection. I left the van with them and took a Lyft home. Expecting a call by the end of the day and not hearing anything from Cody, I called and he told me that he "didn't get around to the inspection and could he keep the van until the next day." Again he said he would contact me when the inspection was complete......crickets.....nothing. Finally I called Cody around 1pm and was told it still wasn't complete and he was waiting for his "mechanic's write up" and would call very soon with the details. I think he told me this a couple of times. At 4pm I got in my car and drove over to The Auto Hospital.....the lobby was empty and no one in the office. Rang the button on the counter that said "please ring the bell if we are not in the office and someone will be with you shortly." Well, that got me nowhere.....I waited more than 5 minutes from that point and then went outside and located one of the mechanics to ask where I might find Cody. The mechanic assured me he was inside and he came in and called for Cody -no answer. Finally the mechanic walked around the corner (to a breakroom? maybe...) and told him he had someone in the lobby. Keep in mind that this is the end of the day.....So, Cody proceeds to look here and there for the write up on the van. Looking on this desk, that desk, trash can, back office, out into the shop, here and there. Took forever and was quite strange. Finally he finds it. I commented on how this has not been a good experience for me and his reply was "Well I only have 2 mechinics and covid this and that....." WELL THEN why did you say you could do the work if you only have 2 mechanics and are slammed??????????? Never offered any reason or apology for never ever calling me as he promised to do nor for having to keep the van for 2 days. In the end it cost me $138 and I really didn't get too much info on the overall road worthiness of the vehicle. I wasted my 2 days off dealing with these guys. Not to mention the higher than the norm expense for poor details. Yeah, I absolutely don't recommend this place. read more

The day I called around for a mechanic they were the first out of about seven establishments that offered a service member discount, and I appreciate that. Don't let the location of the shop intimidate you, the staff was knowledgeable, kind, and courteous. They did a diagnostic on the car, and they didn't sugar coat my options (I appreciate that). They came up with the most time/cost effective solution and solved my issue with my vehicle. They did a major repair and I realized later the windshield wiper tank was missing ! Then they replaced a brand new sensor with a new one, then kept the one they replaced instead of giving it to me. TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! Or whatever you have...! We were able to get an appointment within 2 days for our Suburban and we though it was for sure dead in the water. She wasn't! And not only were they able to test the fuel and other fluids, they did a full diagnostic test and figured out what it was. AND THE BEST PART: they don't pressure you into fixing your vehicle right then and there. It's not a sales pitch with them, it's just pure business. Family ran, family operated. Perfection!! I had an electrical problem with my airbag sensor, having something to do with my passenger seat and the indicator switch when someone is sitting there, resulting in a red warning light on the dash. When I googled the issue it said the repair could be complicated and that expertise was required. Off to the Auto Hospital for a diagnostic, and these guys identified and fixed the problem, all within the cost of the diagnostic fee, so there was no additional charge or cost. Awesome! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This shop is the biggest rip off ever. I went in for an oil service and they did an "inspection" I never requested or authorized to the tune of $120. The cocky little con artist, Cody, at the front desk then proceeded to show me a long list of "services" needed on my 3 year old car. I was immediately suspect because of the age of the car and declined to have the work done. I made an appointment at a reputable auto shop for the following week to have this list verified and have something else done to the car. When they saw the list of services I supposedly needed on my car they laughed and told me these services were BS because your make/model car doesn't even require these services to be performed. Seriously.. don't go to this place if you don't want to be ripped off. I guess they think they can insult people's intelligence and may think they're are slick but they have zero integrity or work ethic. read more

After moving here from across the country I was looking to get a quick oil change and a diagnostic report on a check engine light. I started calling down the list of top rated auto shops on yelp when I got to this place (number 3). I called on a Friday morning asking if they had time for me to bring my car in and get a same day service. While the previous two places apologetically said they could not accommodate me this place said of course bring it in! That was a huge mistake!!! Not only did they NOT get my simple oil change done that day, the technician left my car apart before he left so I was unable to pick it up at the end of the day and it had to stay over the weekend! I started a NEW job Monday morning but let it go. I called Monday morning and told them I was able to pick up my car that evening. When I called after work the car again WAS NOT COMPLETE. Of course the $700 dollar service was complete but the oil change that a simple jiffy lube could do in 15 minutes was still not done. Picked up my car with no apology or explanation. If the communication was there I would have let everything else go. Do not go to this place if you are looking for transparency. read more
