My family of three have been attending Huikala for about 3 months now. The members are so welcoming and warm. I appreciate how passionate they are about sharing the love of Jesus through their words as well as their actions. It is always so encouraging and a blessing to see the faithful members still active in the church. The atmosphere is modern in terms of chairs instead of pews, and words projected on the screen versus hymnal books. The music is a combination of old hymns and contemporary christian songs. And the instrument used is mostly the piano, but the guitar, ukulele, and a cajo'n are used as well and sounds heavenly when played together. Paster King preaches God's word as it is. He does not mince words or change words so as not to hurt feelings. Pastor King preaches the actual Bible and not some watered down version. He gives a historical context when preaching so you can grasp the ideology and life of the time being discussed. This is a bible preaching-bible believing church just like Christ's church in the book of Acts. My family of three have grown immensely closer to the Lord over the past several months with this amazing body of believers. So much so, that we decided to join Huikala. This church is tucked in the heart of Honolulu. Right next to the Ala Moana Mall (which is where I park and walk across the street), they have guest parking available and there is street parking. Every Sunday, Pastor Anthony King preaches the Gospel so even if you're a first time visitor you get to hear about God's greatest gift to mankind: Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for everyone's sins. Three days later, Jesus rose from the grave, victorious over sin. Through Jesus alone, we receive eternal life by repentance of our sins and acknowledging Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. My husband and I have been together for almost 10 years now and I finally convinced him to go to church with me. Huikala was so welcoming and warm- It didn't scare him away at all- And that was so reassuring. Especially during these times (2020). We've been going for nearly 2 months now and both our children and him love it. It's become apart of our natural routine now and I feel that that's a healthy thing to have in our home. So many things have changed for the positive and I honestly feel it's because of going to church. God has given us this road to take, and I am so glad we listened. It really has been fruitful. And anyone reading this, I wasn't just hesitant for my husband (loud mouth and opinionated lol)- But I am covered in tattoos and piercings and my hair is super vibrant and a different color often. I know it's bad to feel ashamed of judgement- But I have dealt with that experience in the past with other churches, so I was hesitant and fearful at first. I do cover my ink out of respect and habit and it's easy lol. And my mask covers my nose ring lol But everyone knows. I've been attending Huikala for about 2 years, the first day I attended I'll never forget. Pastor King was quick to see a new face and introduce himself. He made me feel welcomed and it was only a short 3 days after I filled out my contact card that I was prayed for and sent an encouraging email of endearment. I was saved and baptized here, right out at Ala Moana Beach Park. Getting connected has been the best decision of my life. The church members are overflowing and the most loving people! They offer an amazing discipleship program, kids program with the most loving and selfless examples, bible studies, outreach and many other ways that guarantee spiritual growth in your faith. I love that the messages are all powerfully rooted in and prepared straight from the Word of God. I'm a part of the singles ministry here at Huikala and I can say that it's been the best part of my walk with the Lord thus far. I've made many memories and grown with brothers and sisters in Christ here. When I moved back to the island at the end of March, I wanted to find a Biblical Christian church where I can grow my faith and help me to follow Jesus Christ. I want to avoid to join a church which just for the sake of going to attend Sunday service and scratch on the surface of being a Christian. I want to find a church who could help and guide me truly transformed into a Christian in God's eyes. With that, God led me to find Huikala. In Huikala, we don't have fancy setting nor super choir, but the preaching of God's Word through our wonderful Pastor Anthony and prayers and sharing of devoted group of Christians hit my heart deeply. After one and half month attending the small group study and Sunday Services, I was enrolled in the discipleship with an amazing dicipler. The first week I moved to O'ahu I went to the Singles Bible Study on Friday night and it was amazing! Two days later I attended their Sunday morning church service and I thought the pastor's preaching was truthful and authentic, while including his own personal humor and style. The people at Huikala are sweet, kind, and genuine, and the location is perfect! I am a student living on campus at UH Mānoa and I take the bus to church on Sunday mornings. The church community builds you up to become a more Christ-like person and it's great to be part of a caring 'ohana while attending a public university. This church offers many opportunities to get involved by having events, Bible studies, and discipleship programs. I am currently in a discipleship program and I have learned so much about what it truly means to be a Christian and to apply the Bible to your life. I appreciate that the pastor genuinely cares about the people of the church and wants them to thrive in their faith. Huikala Baptist Church was an answer to prayer. Being a military family we are used to "church shopping" at each new assignment. After about six months of searching we stumbled upon Huikala and so glad we did! Walking in the first time we knew this was where God wanted us to be. The Kings are an awesome family leading an awesome church. Pastor King preaches the bible each and every service and makes it relevant to the congregation. This church and church ohana are so welcoming and friendly as well! On Oct 22 we opened up our new auditorium (its amazing) and moved back to one Sunday morning service at 10:00! The space is amazing and there is no denying God had his hands in all of it! Their children's classes are top notch teaching the kids from the bible. Every time we get in the car to leave church our 3 year old Son always has a bible story he learned that he wants to tell us about. Home. That's how I always feel when walking into this church. It's not so much the building (although Praise God for the building) it's more so the people and the Spirit of God that rests here. It's His perfect peace. Pastor Anthony and His wife Angela are real, down to earth, yet heavenly minded people that absolutely love The Lord and love Gods people and this community. Pastor Anthony preaches only from Gods Word and his humility and wit are threaded throughout every sermon. I am so blessed that he is my pastor. You will be, too! I have been attending the church for a year and a half, and especially felt connected with the other believers here during Covid-19 isolation, as strange as it sounds. Pastor Anthony and his wife Angela put together zoom meetings several times a week, where we supported each other and prayed for each other, and most importantly - we were all part of one big ohana. I can't imagine going through this without my church family. Twice during the pandemia I received groceries from fellow church members, and shared what I could with others too. As we are coming out of the isolation, I can't wait to see all my brothers and sisters, and continue serving our Lord Jesus Christ together. I have a lot in common with the people inside huikala they are easy to talk to and are friendly. they are conveniently located in the city and I was able to find parking quickly without issues. when I had a difficult time with life they were their to aid and help find solutions to problems that had existed in my spiritual life. I enjoyed my time here and would come back again. thank you. I came from a ABUSIVE CULT called the HONOLULU CHURCH OF CHRIST located on keeaumoku street. they lead me down the wrong path in christ were DISHONEST with my funds and ran SCAMS on the island.... We recently moved to Honolulu and were looking for a church. When we walked in to Huikala, we got much more than that. In addition to the timely, convicting, biblical teaching, we got a family. I am so grateful to God for leading me to this church. I moved here two months ago knowing I would need to find a church home. Our family loves this church. We visited the first time in February of 2015 when our family moved to Hawaii. We were stationed at Schofield Barracks. We had thought at first the church would be too far of a drive, but we at least wanted to check it out. We fell in love with the church people and decided that it was worth the drive. We moved off island due to military retirement, but we missed our church family so much that we just moved back. We are so grateful for our Pastor and his amazing family. If it wasn't for Pastor Anthony King and members at Huikala Baptist Church I don't know how I would have gotten through the most difficult time in my life last year when I lost my mom. I now joyfully call Huikala my home. There's so much peace in my heart knowing without a doubt that my family and I are finally exactly where we are supposed to be. Good, grounded church. People are genuinely friendly and no feeling of judgment. Pastor preaches and teaches directly from the Bible and doesn't add/subtract from the word. This Church has a great discipleship program and good children's programs as well. Great Men's conferences and leadership weekends throughout the year. I've attended for 2 years and have always felt like part of the family. The congregation is a diverse cross-section not only of Honolulu, but from around the globe. Recommend visiting for any service and you will not be disappointed. The church does many outreach events and has baptisms many times through the year. Growing up in church and feeling betrayed by the leaders of the church, I was very hesitant to come back to church. I just want to say that I am so glad that I made the choice to check out huikala. Pastor King and his wife Angela have been very loving and helpful. They make you feel the real love of Jesus and they don't make you feel worthless or that they are better than you. They have an actual love and desire to reach the lost for Jesus. All the brethren in the church are very loving and friendly and the best part of it, they actually peach the word of God.
