The reason I chose this particular clinic was to use the Biodex machine to increase my range of motion. It did not disappoint even tho I had to live outside of my home community for 2 months. I was told it is the only machine in Canada situated in a physio clinic. The Capilano staff from the front desk right through to other therapists and assistants are warm and welcoming. Arjun, my physio therapist was skilled and engaging while always focused on my recovery and increased range of motion. I highly recommend him. His assistant Ava was so kind and personable. As well as physio I utilized other gym equipment in addition to the Biodex. This included a treadmill developed by NASA that can reduce your weight for walking. Allie, the kinesiologist is helpful and engaging. When I have a second knee replacement in about 12 months, it will also be a complicated procedure. It was on a Saturday, and the receptionist gave me clear directions on where to park and how to get to the location. When I arrived, he introduced himself (Constantine!), and gave me three pages for me to fill out regarding my information/history. The chiropractor, Dr. Yee, saw me shortly after my arrival and took a complete history, did a thorough exam, and then tried his best to fix me (apparently my upper spine/ribs are rather difficult to move). He was also personable. The three "As": able, available, and affable. This is what you want in a health care provider! His office also provides sport medicine consults and massage therapy and acupuncture. There's a small amount of free parking to be had; otherwise, arrive early and park across the street at the Meadowlark Mall. More updates as I see the need. EDIT: My second visit was of similar high quality as the first. Plus, I've had very little pain since! Success! THEN, a few days later, I received a follow-up phone call from Constantine to find out how I was doing. I really like their customer service. I'd given them 4.5 stars if I could. The treatment rooms are also cozy; they don't feel too clinical at all. The staff are fabulous; from the friendly folks working at the front desk to my treatment provider. I asked my FB cohort if anyone had used physio at a place that was not co-located with chiropractic, acupuncture, cupping, and other quackery, and this location was recommended. WHEW! I could not find one online myself. I have only had online visits with the physiotherapist, Chris Holt, but they have been none the less useful for being virtual. The exercises recommended were directly in keeping with the diagnoses from the sports medicine physician I saw, and Chris is also helping me to monitor for another possible diagnosis that was mentioned. He shared with me the gold standard trial that informed this approach, and I couldn't be happier. If your past experiences with physio involved too much pain for you, I would also highly recommend this practice. It takes expertise to design challenge that will heal the affected area fast enough to allow you to maintain good motivation while not discouraging adherence via pain, and I would say that this level of expertise is definitely available at this practice. Since the clinic is sports-oriented, it makes for a perfect place if you are eager to return to a regular workout, whatever that looks like in the time of the COVID pandemic. They understand that at least one of the priorities you will have is engaging in sports activity, which helps to inform your recovery plan. I grew tired of asking my GP and rheumatologist when I could return to doing X and Y, and am much happier to have a sports medicine physician and physio who keep this as a priority for my recovery.
