GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE! I have to agree with some of the other reviewers about the utter lack of professionalism. These people really don't have their shit together. My fiancé and I scheduled a viewing of the humming bird house for a Saturday and no one even bothered to show up! We waiting at the gate for 45 minutes calling and nothing! There was even cargo trucks lining up behind us with items for the wedding that couldn't come in and set up for a wedding later that day. Worst of all they didn't make any correspondence for two weeks and when they did it was a half hearted apology at best. The place itself is nice, but the chance that your entire wedding could be ruined by the staff here is just too high. read more

After my initial disappointment with the Hummingbird House I have received several communications from The Hummingbird House asking for the chance to offer me a different experience from the one that my fiance and I had with their former events planner. At this point my fiance and I have chosen to go with a different venue but are sensible to the efforts that remaining and new staff at the Hummingbird House have made to earn our trust for another walk-through. I've amended my star rating to a more neutral number in consideration of their continued communication and the praise for the venue and staff that I have heard from a third party. --Original Review-- I found my communications with the Hummingbird House's wedding planner to be less than stellar. In our brief email correspondence, the hummingbird house mails grew short and dropped salutations. This in itself is not a huge detractor from a venue, but other venues I had been to had been very bright and attentive. Maybe I'm overanalyzing, but in my experience businesses are at their most professional and cordial when they are trying to obtain customers. I was wary. I made an appointment for 10:30 in the morning Feb. 12. Upon arrival I found myself locked out of the gates and had to park alongside a truck full of people who also appeared to be waiting for an appointment. I had the distinct impression that the appointment had been double booked so I tried to call the office. No one answered. After several attempts to contact the office, I watched as the truck went up to the gate keypad and fiddled around with it until the gate opened. They drove in and I was still outside unable to contact the staff. I waited for 15 minutes past the appointment time for any member of the staff to arrive and grant me access but no one came. I ended up leaving without having seen the grounds at all and without being able to get in touch with anyone. Given the lackluster communication, the apparent double-booking, and other reviews I had read with the same general tone, I decided not to pursue the venue further. There are many other less expensive venues out there that look fantastic and are much more attentive and welcoming. Because I did not see the grounds, I can't give a 1 star rating. but 2 stars for the lackluster communication and for forgetting about our appointment. read more

The Hummingbird House staff, and esp Courtney and Danny make this the BEST wedding venue in Austin. Actually, probably the entire universe. The venue is so beautiful, esp all the new additions to the tent and grounds. Our wedding was more than I could have ever hoped for, exceeded every expectation I had. The most frequent compliment we received at our wedding was, "wow, where did you find this venue?" I can't say enough good things about Hummingbird House and the staff. The grounds are stunning and the staff, especially Courtney, is helpful, friendly and truly interested in helping you have the most perfect day. The bridal suite was spacious and perfect for a few pre-ceremony cocktails while getting hair and makeup done. The guys loved their room (complete with mini fridge, bongo drums, foosball and more). The beautiful signature background surrounded the best day of our lives! 1st and a very important point I want to make is I TRUSTED THEM COMPLETELY during our planning! Courtney and Danny were our hosts beyond measure. Everything we wanted and needed was accommodated with speed, honesty and assurance. The grounds surround you with enchantment! (and saved me in floral expenses) In the bridal suite, your could hear only chatter and laughter. (+ popping bottles of presecco) The other bridal room for my partner, aka grooms room, had all the things that tried to settle her nerves. Games and a Fridge. My vendors had no problems and everything went smoothly. They never left me waiting for answers. Whether it be emails, texts or calls, they were there and got right back with us. Whew!!! Our wedding at Hummingbird House on April 6, 2012 could not have been more perfect. Danny and his staff went above and beyond to make sure that everything ran smoothly. I didn't have to worry about anything and I felt like they genuinely cared about making our special day everything we dreamed it would be. And it was! Hummingbird House is a wonderful venue for a wedding and reception! My husband and I married there at the end of March and couldn't have had a more perfect day! Danny and his team took care of every detail imaginable all the while staying practically invisible to us and our guests. The grounds are fabulously landscaped (makes for great photos), the tent is spectacular (fun and romantic), and the amenities you get for the price are spot on! We often drive near Hummingbird House and reminisce about how much fun we had at our wedding and how glad we are that we chose Hummingbird House for our special day. Although my wedding is in October of this year I feel like I can whole heatedly give a 5 star review to the Hummingbird House. After researching and visiting tons of venues I fell in love with the Hummingbird House. A friend attended a wedding at the Hummingbird House and suggested I check it out. I showed up unannounced and was greeted as though I was family and promptly shown around and was told of all the wonderful amenities by a fellow named Danny. The land is so beautifully manicured and the bride and groom areas are not only as cute as a pig in a prom dress but nice and spacious. I have been to more weddings than I care to remember at Mercury Hall and the French Legation. All of which are lovely venues I just wanted a new fresh outdoor venue that I did not associate with marriages that were no longer intact. Hummingbird House is ideal for an outdoor venue that is close enough to Austin with the feeling of another town. I recently received a phone call from Lauren, a wedding coordinator/employee/angel. She called to ask if I had any questions and if we could talk about what it is that I had in mind as far as decor and what not. When I called her back I just mentioned that my mother was in town and she promptly suggested I bring her to the venue to check it out. I never dreamed it being an option considering it was the weekend and knew there was a wedding planned for that evening. However Lauren not only graciously invited us on a busy Saturday she spent close to 2 hours answering any kind of question we had. She was so helpful and offered the amount of assistance that not only did it alleviate my stress, my mother and I both did a "holy cow was she nice and helpful power sigh" when we walked out the door. She pointed us in the way of caterers (which I had a hard time with considering my fiancée owns East Side Pies and fancies himself quite the foodie) to linens. I've been meaning to write this review for almost a year now. My ex-fiance and I loved this wedding venue and had high hopes. We set a wedding date and I paid a $2000. deposit to save our date. About 8 months before the date my ex and I split up. I immediately called to cancel the wedding plans and see my options for reimbursement. I was told they would work with me. After that I was strung along for months. Empty promises and no follow through. After the wedding date passed I was told they were never able to fill it, and my money was lost. I would never recommend this place to anyone. My horrible experience definitely makes me think twice about following my heart and trusting places like this blindly. read more

I fell in love with the venue online, and it was absolutely stunning when I finally got to tour it with Courtney. I changed my wedding date (only by a day :) ) to make sure I could book this venue. The venue has a lot of amenities that many others didn't offer (tables, chairs, beautiful grounds), or connections with other vendors to make everything as easy as possible. Courtney was amazing during the entire wedding process, and even though I had hired outside coordinators, she was there every step of the way the day of, immediately getting on the phone and fixing a linen rental mix-up with the vendor even though they were closed! We were so happy to find the Hummingbird House in our search for an outdoor, romantic, garden venue. Danny, the co owner and also our on- site coordinator has amazing positive energy, but at the same time a "no worries" "we can handle it" demeanor. My daughter was married in April of 2021 and we continue to receive compliments about the venue and the wonderful time that was had by guests. My daughter and her fiance loved the beautiful and relaxed vibe of this venue, and the fact that the ceremony, under the arbor was steps away from a lovely cocktail "hour" spot and then steps away from the reception "tent". So, perfect transitions from one part of the wedding to the next. & Each location, perfectly lovely. Our vendors did a superb job. Regarding the beautiful ceremony: Shout out to Kim Session, our officiant. And Sienna Strings Quartet, for the beautiful music during the ceremony and cocktail hour. You've got to see this place to believe it! And, Danny is ABSOLUTELY wonderful! I can't imagine a more responsive owner/day-of coordinator -- and his taste is impeccable!!! Here's a copy of the note we wrote to him: Dear Danny, We are beside ourselves with how well the wedding worked out, from the very first champagne you poured for us almost a year ago through picking up our gifts last Sunday. The obvious part, of course, is the property itself: lush, intriguing, welcoming, gorgeous. But what turned a beautiful location into a beautiful experience was the attention you lavished on us. You put those scintillating LED lights on the trees, last-minute fieldstones over the soft grass by the gazebo, dropped the tent walls when it got cold, hired an professionally unobtrusive videographer, and indulged us multiple visits and visitors over the past few months. During that time we learned about your taste, attention to detail, and competent and calming presence; just seeing you on the wedding day made us realize we were in good hands, we could trust you to make it all work. And it did. It was seamless and vivid, it clicked, and many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they'd ever seen. I attended a wedding at the Hummingbird House recently and had a great time. It was a 20 minutes or so from downtown Austin where I live, but it seemed like a world away from all the chaos of the city. I didn't have any parking issues... I just parked in the large parking lot behind a big fence in front of the house. It was a nice house, but I really spent all my time on the amazing grounds that were covered with exotic plants, flower, lawns, and trees. The wedding was on a separate lawn in an iron gazebo covered in vines that I later found out were "moon flowers" that only bloom at nite (like I said, the plants were AMAZING). I could also hear the trickle of a nice little creek down the hill during the ceremony. The grounds also had three large tents for the reception that made me feel like I was at a polo club for some strange reason... very nice, open, and cool, which is important here in TX. The place really came alive at night! The canopy of the trees were illuminated from below, lights in the pool, trees wrapped in lights along little paths, globe lights strung in the air... basically the entire property was glowing. I spent time at the dance floor in one of the tents and wandering around the grounds. It was really a fun and unique location that I will consider myself when I get married. read more

I recently had an event at the Hummingbird House. I can't say enough good things about how my party turned out. First off Lauren was my party planner and man was she helpful. I was so stressed before meeting her. She is so knowledgeable about everything parties. She has helpful recommendations on florist and the best place to rent linens and that's just the beginning. She made my planning fun again and it should be it's party for crying out loud! On the day of my event, I was of course super stressed out. Then I arrived to the Hummingbird House and talked to Lauren. She calmed me down and assured me she would take care of everything so I could enjoy my party. I could not have done it without her. Lauren made sure everything and everyone were where they were supposed to be. She is great at keeping you on your time line. If you are looking to have a special event look no further. My husband and I got married at the Hummingbird House on May 11, 2019 and I cannot say enough good things about it. Of course, the venue itself is gorgeous. The grounds are pristine and everything is tastefully done. But that is not what sold us on this place, it was the customer service. From the moment we toured the venue, we were treated with warmth and respect. The owner, Danny, was professional yet fun and showed us that he truly cared about our day. We worked the coordinator Courtney some as well and she was equally as amazing. Danny was our coordinator for our day of because Courtney was out of town and he absolutely blew us away. From the Husband's side of story: I'm a terrible procrastinator sometimes and this review is long overdue. My wife and I were married at the Hummingbird House in November, 2013. I can't say enough about the efforts of Courtney and the staff there. They went above and beyond to make our wedding a memorable event. I know my wife and I will never forget it. We have no regrets about the choice. I still have people commenting about the wedding and how beautiful the Hummingbird House is. I think if we had to plan a wedding all over again, there is no doubt my wife and I would pick the Hummingbird House as the venue. Courtney is fantastic to work with. From the wife: I love this place! Courtney was awesome through out and very much on top of things! Our wedding was on the weekend there was a serious flood and it did extensive damage to the bridge nearby and it wrecked HBH's lush grounds. We're talking fences were torn, the pool was muddy, the grounds were sopping with mud, etc i didn't get to see the damage but my husband took a look. he said if i saw it i would've freaked out and being the nervous wreck from the bridal frenzy, i probably would've had a nervous breakdown....well, actually my second nervous pre-wedding breakdown. Come wedding day (Sunday), they cleaned it up and you couldn't even tell that a flood had hit HBH!! that's simply amazing and i know they've must've busted their tail to make it happen. Our wedding portraits look stunning and our guests had wonderful things to say about HBH. This place is surely a gem and i love the charm the house has. We live in Houston but there's nothing like this in our town. We've looked at other venues in Austin and as soon as I stepped into this place, i knew that this is where i wanted to have my wedding. I had searched for venues for a long time in Austin. Being a long distance bride and trying to plan from Dallas can be very difficult, however this is not the case when you go to Hummingbird House. Danny and his staff have made it very easy on us. Danny is always quick to respond and extremely flexible whenever we want to come in for another look. They are also updating everything from the chairs to the bathrooms to outdoor AC units. This makes this venue MORE than ideal. I had my wedding here Oct. 9th, 2011, which unfortunately was when our drought decided it was done and it was going to rain. I had all these great plans that would encompass the whole venue, that then had to be confined into the one tent. However the staff handled it wonderfully. They gave me options, tried to arrange everything the best they could to still incorporate my ideas, and best of all I didn't have to freak out about the wedding being ruined. The tent was large enough to have the ceremony, have a buffet, bar, photo booth, dance floor, DJ, and cake area. I think it's a fabulous venue and you can really do so much with it. I love the fact that the tent is a permanent thing so it's not like you're walking around in the grass, it's huge, and the lights inside are very pretty and romantic! I had a really good experience, anytime I needed to met with them I was able to. I actually went and looked at it twice before I even booked them (one with my fiance, once with my mother) and then I met with Lauren 2 times before the event as well. Overall with her I had a good experience, she was blunt about a few things however it was always things I needed to hear since no one else was being telling me (when I met her the first time and I brought some of the things I was thinking about doing she said I had 5 ideas going on and I needed to decide on one. Blunt, but I needed to be told that.) I also always found that whenever I called or emailed either her or Danny they were always very prompt in responding. I emailed them ideas, random thoughts, or if I had questions about how things were going to be handled. They always go back to me. Since she is no longer there, I feel bad even mentioning the only two complaints I had with Lauren. because she was blunt, she could come off as a bit pushy which my mother didn't appreciate. The other thing, and this is why I'm giving it 4 and not 5 stars, is that my rehearsal was scheduled at the same time as another couple, and the day before this was realized. They pushed back the other couples rehearsal by an hour, however that gave us no leeway on our time table. I actually was late and missed my rehearsal since they had no choice but to go ahead without me. As they told me, my part was easy just walk down and smile when they told me to. But It was still disappointing to not get to go through the rehearsal and did make me extra stressed. However that day (it was the day before my wedding, in the morning) they were very nice, helped me calm down, and also spent time with me reassuring me that there was a plan for the weather. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it to others. It is beautiful, has everything you could need, and if you want the outdoor wedding, but with a back up plan it's perfect! read more

Naturally, the first thing off the wedding checklist must be the venue!! It is an overwhelming search throughout all the wedding websites and Austin local bridal magazines. We looked at the Hummingbird House first in January 2013 for a Spring 2014 wedding date. They had a 10% wedding planner/coordinator discount which made it affordable for us. It was a cold, ugly day when we set up a walk-through mid-week. Even without their usual spring flowers I had seen in the pictures online, it was absolutely stunning. Courtney was there to show up around and she could not have been nicer. They have a greenhouse which they use to keep the flowers/plants that are in that current season available. She was explaining what flowers would be out and where during our projected time of year date. Things that were really attractive to us were: 1. The enormous bridal suite with waiting area, huge bathroom and hair/make-up salon. 2. Separate grooms suite with television, refrigerator, and plenty of lounging space. 3. New bathrooms 4. Tent over the reception area with chandeliers that is up year round that can either be contained for air conditioning or heating. 5. Wrapped "Christmas" white lights EVERYWHERE. 6. Easy and accessible parking for guests and for large buses. The contract was simple and easy to understand. Everything that was included was readily explained and the items that I needed to possibly rent were made available with the preferred vendors list that they provided. I mostly dealt with Courtney via-email but Danny was also super nice and answered my endless questions. Two weeks prior to the end of April, Courtney and I had our walk-through. Everything came together and she was super helpful with all my ideas. The wedding day came and everything was perfect. I heard non-stop compliments on how beautiful the venue was and "how did you find this?!" comments. I would recommend the Hummingbird House to any future brides! read more

I looked at the Hummingbird House at the request of my friend as a possible wedding venue. The venue is gorgeous and spans roughly 6 acres with incredible landscaping. The manager of the Hummingbird House was incredibly warm and helpful. Their rates are pretty low considering that the prices include chair and tent rentals. Since we signed the contract, the staff has been incredibly attentive and I can't wait to have my ceremony there in October! read more

I can't say enough about the Hummingbird House! The venue is stunning and well kept up. I love the atmosphere of the venue. It really set the mood I was looking for at the wedding. The bridal and groom suites are great places to get ready. Especially the bridal suite! It has 3 different rooms to get ready in, which is great when you are getting your hair done on location. The staff is professional and very accomandating. My dad is in a wheelchair which was a concern for me. Lauren offer to have some come by anytime we would like to practice pushing him about the grounds. This was very helpful for me and my family. As a bride, I was pretty relaxed and not big on a schedule or timelines (beside the start time of the wedding!). With that said, I hadn't even though about the timeline for the day. I felt they were helpful with providing me with a timeline that worked with my personality..The venue was perfect! Danny and Lauren were wonderful to work with. Again, I'm pretty relaxed so I can't speak for other bride that have every detail planned out. I'm sure Danny and Lauren see all kinds of brides, which is a task to work with! I felt they worked great with my needs and lack of planning at some points! We did do the day of coordinating for the wedding but Lauren made sure that all our vendors had the right information for set up and tear down. She call them individually to make sure we were on schedule. I was so thankful that she did that! They also let us come early on the day of the wedding so we could start getting our hair done at the venue. When we got there Danny and Lauren were hard at working setting up the venue and would pop their heads in every so often to check if we needed anything while we were getting ready. All my guest were so impressed with the venue! They couldn't stop talking about it the next day. I was really please with the set up as well. I love the way the place lights up during the night time. It's a very romantic setting. I can't image getting married to my best friend in any other place. I would highly commend this venue! read more

Courtney and Danny worked overtime to have that place looking like spring in December. They were also very professional and easy to reach. Anytime we had a question or changed our minds on something, they were extremely accommodating. I can also not stress how important and life saving it was to have Courtney as a day of coordinator. At times during the wedding where I thought I was going to lose my mind, Courtney was calm and cool as she kept things moving. I could brag about this place all day, from the staff, to the attention to detail, or even how much we loved the bridal and grooms suites. I have even already told 2 couples I know to look at this place. We celebrated my daughters wedding last night! The Hummingbird House was beautiful! All of our guest said it was one of the prettiest venues ever. Danny and Courtney were tremendous. Our decorations were a lot of work! They were there to help with what ever we needed. Never seen two people work harder. And such a joy. They are there to make your day what you want it to be. I attended a wedding on this past Sunday afternoon at the Hummingbird House. It was truly an oasis get away just 15 mins from Austin. The tropical grounds and area surrounding the pool were very peaceful and serene. The staff did an excellent job in decorating the covered area for the wedding, it was exceptionally whimsical and the table center pieces simply amazing. Our wedding was at the Hummingbird House on September 14th. I CANNOT say enough good things about the venue and Danny and Courtney. Throughout the ENTIRE process, they were bot extremely responsive and helpful which was very important to me as I was planning the wedding from New York and could only be in Austin a handful of times. They had wonderful recommendations, from the florist recommendation (the Gala Gal), to detailed recommendations for the day of, such as the chair ties and napkin placement. They were both there the day of my wedding and made me feel completely calm and stress-free. They were incredibly organized and took care of everything from setting up to coordinating with the band on the timeline and announcements, to the sparkler exit. I had my wedding there and recommend it to any friend getting married. It was absolutely beautiful. They only thing I didn't like was when I first booked the venue the owner said the house would be available for the elderly and gifts if it got too hot, but the morning we arrived to start setting up for the wedding that evening I found out the owner had moved in to the house and it was no longer available to me. I just wish they would have told me that earlier as to not add to the stress of the day. Also, after the wedding, I was told we'd be charged for 5 or so linens, because some icing and food had gotten on them. We are healthy people and didn't serve any greasy foods at our wedding, so I'm sure with just 1 wash they would have been clean and ready for the next wedding. We were charged as if we were buying the linens, but we didn't actually get to keep the linens. So I can only assume they cleaned them and kept my money. Other than that, aesthetically, it was absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't have changed a thing. read more
