This is my favorite Chinese restaurant of all time! Could be because I grew up in the area and this is where we always ordered but I love their food. I am vegetarian and you HAVE to get their fried tofu and broccoli. If you are somebody who likes their tofu actually fried and crunchy on the outside then this is the place to go. I don't think I've ever gotten tofu at another Chinese takeout that makes their tofu like this. We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the food! But we also got an order of crab Rangoon, veggie moo shu, and vegetable lo mein. My mother (who is picky) said "this is Chinese food with actual flavor!" When comparing it to another place we had tried. They have the same retro interior that I'm sure hasn't changed since they open. I like the look of the booths and it is all very clean and a great place to eat your food if you're not taking it with you. It's probably a good thing I don't live close by anymore because I'd be getting this too often! read more

Been trying to find a good spot since our last place sold and is completely different. Wow! Quality ingredients, the ability to order 1/2 portions, pick your rice style, and great tasting! Chicken lo mien was excellent General Tso chicken could have been spicier, we will ask next time, Cashew chicken with vegetables was excellent too. All quality bites of meat and vegetables. Used to be way better, everyone agreed the best crab Rangoon in town. But heard new owners around the time the taste changed and people started complaining. Just meh from what can tell from tryin a few things. Tried to order large plain rice because sharing, and they don't have anymore. Didnt know until showed up the "we only have one size" was the tiny 3 bite size. Absolutely the best Chinese food around town. From the chicken to the beef, everything is worth trying. I have been hundreds of times and never left disappointed. The chicken was so dry that it was almost crunchy, the plain "fried" rice that came with it was barely a half shade above white it was nothing like the pictures shown so don't believe the false advertisement I also ordered the ham fried rice They did not tell me there were raw peas and almost raw onions in the fried rice Overall a bad experience I will not be back 0/10 do not recommend read more

You know, it's ok. It's chinese take out. Par for the course. You've been to one chinese take out you've been to all of them. It's got all the regular dishes, anything you'd find anywhere else, quality just a tiny bit better than any other place. No big surprises. The Chicken with Vegetables and Shrimp with Vegetables are excellent, even if unoriginal in name. The half portion is enough for two of us, and a full portion feeds the whole family. The Egg Foo Young is exceptional if you like this kind of food, and the portions are enormous on even the half orders. The soups are not the best; but, of their selections, the Wonton Soup is probably the superior choice if needing soup for ease of swallowing with minimal chewing or for smaller portioning. They do a good job on their appetizers and particularly the rangoons, but the sauces are prepackaged and not made in house. If they had a custom sauce it would be even better, but since these are top notch already the sauce can only detract so much. Instead, we bring them home and use our own sauce with them unless we are eating them at any of the beautiful nearby areas to eat out in nature (well, nature with picnic tables anyway). The food is always served quite promptly, only one time did we have to wait more than 10 minutes for it to be made fresh other than the steamed rice. Occasionally late in the day the steamed rice is drier, but once mixed with any of the sauces it is palatable if only because the rest of the dish is so very delicious. This has only happened twice ever out of many visits, though. The restaurant itself is just barely large enough to not constitute a hole-in-the-wall establishment. They have almost as much space for the counter with utensils and condiments as for the row of seating. This also is a truly small business in the staffing sense, that does a lot of business on busy days. The best food is often before lunch rush or dinner rush, but it is great any time of day they are open. On that, their hours of operation are a bit wonky so make sure to check, and having so few staff when they need a vacation (as we all do) the restaurant is often closed for a week or more multiple times a year. If traveling to dine here, it is advisable to call first and ensure they are actually open so as to not be frustrated potentially on missing food. If local, signing up for notices online I feel is the way to go. read more

I love coming to this Chinese restaurant. If you go in to order it will be cheaper than ordering it to go or delivery. The person that takes the orders is friendly and is able to explain anything you need help with. The avg. time I wait is 25-30 minutes on a Friday evening. The inside is clean and easy to navigate. Smells like smoke but putting that aside, I ordered a combo appetizer platter. Everything was burnt. The beef on a stick literally cracked off the stick when I picked it up and it was almost black. The fried wontons were dark brown. I was suppose to get two fried chicken wings but got 1 extremely small chicken wing cut into two pieces, which were also burnt. When I called to complain, of course no one spoke English. They kept saying they would call me back. The old owners were great but I'm done with this place, they raised prices and really starting cutting corners. read more

Giving 3 stars for removing a regular ingredient due to a severe allergy. Plus, the portions are very generous, and the pork egg rolls are great. I ordered pineapple chicken, which I've always had in a brown sauce. This was not, and it was not good. Had a fishy taste (?). The hunan beef had a great flavor, but the meat was tough. I've read reviews saying that all Chinese restaurantsarethe same. Not true. Our local place was so busy, they weren't accepting orders for over an hour, so we decided to try this place. Frequently receive the wrong items - egg roll instead of soup, for example. Also, always ask for no Napa in my meal and they ALWAYS leave it in. Every freaking time. This time they also added broccoli, which isn't even an ingredient in Moo Goo Gai Pan. Worst Chinese food I have ever had! Ordered sweet and sour chicken, beef lo mein, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls and crab rangoon. The egg rolls were burnt on the outside and the innards tasted like sauerkraut. The sweet and sour sauce had a strong flavor of bbq sauce in it and the chicken had a strong burnt taste, but the batter around it looked normal (not sure what they did to do that). Every piece of vegetable in the shrimp fried rice had been burned (burn marks) in which I am sure contributed to the burnt taste as well as the rice being over cooked. The Beef Lo Mein was ok. The meat was cooked properly and the noodles weren't over or under cooked. The crab rangoon was so-so. I don't understand all the high reviews. Maybe there was a change of chefs or management, but this place is horrible!! read more

The sweet and sour chicken was not good at all. I got it as carry out and when I got home and bit into it I realized I had been to this place before and hated it the first time, too. The chicken tastes ok (but dry), rice is ok (but smaller box of rice than I get at other places), veggies are ok... but the sweet and sour sauce is nasty. I'm not sure what it is but there is some "off" flavor to it that I've never tasted at other Chinese restaurants. (I almost always get sweet and sour chicken at Chinese restaurants-- its my favorite). Another thing... I first ordered a half order and then discovered it only saved me 80 cents, so I changed it to a full order. Hands down my favorite little Chinese place in West County. My wife and I used to eat at this restaurant all the time in graduate school and now that we live in the area again we are once again regulars.
