This is my go to spot when I want some quick and tasty Chinese food. The service is always very fast. You can order online and it usually takes less than 20 minutes for your prefer to be complete. It is a small and cozy restaurant, so more of a dine out spot for dinner. All of the food has a lot of great flavor. There's a good mix of veggie options and seafood for non-meat eaters. Chinese food is my favorite type of food. I enjoy going to our local neighborhood restaurant China 1. One of my favorite dishes is their sesame shrimp. It comes with broccoli and a side of rice. I like the convenience of ordering online and going to pick it up. It's ready pretty fast. The staff is friendly. There's plenty of parking in the strip mall. You can also dine in. I have to say this either has new owners or new recipes. The menu seems the same but the food really wasn't as good as I have had there before. We had chicken fried rice, chicken and broccoli, egg rolls, crab rangoon, potstickers, shrimp stir fried and general Tso chicken. The fried rice was mostly a yellow rice with hardly any ingredients. The chicken and broccoli had very scrappy pieces of chicken. The kids didn't really enjoy the food either. It's disappointing because we used to get it often and it was good. Solid average Chinese food. Portions are decent size. Crab Rangoon was nicely filled, as were the Pot Stickers. Pork fried rice is disappointing - rice itself was bland, and there was very little pork. The chicken was pretty tasty, both in the General Tso's and the Kung Pao. We asked for extra spicy but it tasted like regular spice to us. Overall, not bad, but nothing outstanding either. read more

Metal Shaving found in food! My parents have been eating takeout from here for awhile, and I was looking forward to trying it. Food was extremely greasy. I got take out, and the grease was leaking through the container lid. I had to pour it out before getting in the car. They used to have the best crab rangoon. They were always overstuffed, and the filling would pop out the top and get a little brown while cooking. The cashew chicken was over cooked, and loaded with raw celery. The general chicken was literally a deep fried dough ball with no chicken in it. Horrible containers too. But at least it cost a lot:( read more

I'm a fan of this little place, even though there are a couple of oddities. The other day I walked in and about 6 people were standing around waiting for there food. The guy at the counter was trying to talk to a picky cusomter and the only other employee was back in the kitchen looking at his phone and NOT COOKING. After a few minutes I had a hard time believing I'd be able to convey my order and left. I've been here 6 or 7 previous times with no issue. Also, the portions here are large, the quality fine. I like the egg fu yung lunch special. It's all you can eat and with a sods under $10, so a good deal. As I said in my first review, the Singapore noodles were really good the times I had them. It was also a meal I couldn't finish. I think they were $8.99. If you walk in and the lady's not working the counter, you might want to come back another time. read more

I wonder why the health department hasn't cited them for the fillth. - or closed them down long enough so they can do a thorough cleaning. I live right close by and it took me a while to try this place out because I hadn't been entirely certain that it was actually in operation. It is small and easy to miss. Since giving it a try "China 1" has been my go to take out Chinese place. I have had both the General Tso's and the Cashew Chicken and they have been magnificent. They actually have a bit of a different take on both of these dishes and while it wasn't exactly what I was expecting it was extremely delicious. I am a fan of their egg rolls. My criteria is that they have to be tasty and not disgustingly greasy. They pass my criteria. The Crab Rangoons are pretty standard. I would say the main draw is that they do not skimp on the filling. Be prepared for swollen Rangoons. The service is what I have come to expect out of strip mall Chinese diners. The same three people are always in there running the show. It appears to be a small family. Be warned I think the only one that speaks English is the daughter. I had an awkward attempt at a conversation with the older gentleman my first time in there. Luckily she came in from the back and saved us. This is my husband's and my favorite Chinese spot. Every time we have eaten here, the food has been amazing. Best crab rangoon we've found in the StL area. General Tso's is equally impressive and delicious. Egg drop soup is my favorite I've ever had. My husband and I have eaten here numerous times through the past few years and haven't had any issues. A couple of weeks ago he ordered some lo mein for lunch and went back to work. My go to place for Chinese in this area. They're fast, reasonable, polite, and the food is very tasty. Lots of Chinese places serve greasy, usually tasteless food, and the secret of knowing a good Chinese restaurant is the flavor of its fried rice, but this place actually has food that is above average in its flavor. My favorite is the Lo mein and the mei fun, which is a dish of fried thin rice vermicelli fried. I'll keep coming back, that's for sure. Update: I simply keep returning. read more

I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed in the least bit. I have tried the General Tso's chicken and the Honey chicken both of which were extremely good. I love their crab rangoon here. Yes I know that is a weird thing to like the best of a Chinese food establishment however the stuff they have here is extremely good. My husband and I really like this restaurant. We order takeout about twice a month for convenience. Staff is always friendly and quick. Quality has been consistent. My husband is picky about his veggies and they'll do special orders for him. We enjoy and recommend their Singapore Mai Fun, Szechuan Shrimp, Crab Ragoon, and Steamed Dumplings. My husband likes to special order chicken with snow-peas, mushrooms, and broccoli. Did not like the General Tso Chicken. It does have seating available to dine in, however it's so small and lacking in ambience I'm not sure why you'd want to. I have been doing deliveries for them for almost a year through door dash. I have been very unhappy so I stopped doing that. Now as a customer twice this month i have decided to use door dash to have china 1 delivered to my house. I have even picked up an order in the past 6 months from them with items missing. They always argue with me and I just overall am so aggrivated with china 1! I am not even rude or anything I just try to explain my situation. Tonight i just asked if i was still charged for the lo mein (I was) that i did not receive and all i got was "we don't delivery" okay well i still didnt get all of my order yet again. its decent food but the people that work there are not great. read more
