While ordering the server was great in making recommendations and guiding the gluten free order. She also helped everyone else make selections based on their cravings. It was great food! I feel bad that I just discovered this long standing gem. I have only been there a handful of times but every time has been good. The service is always great and friendly. I have tried the Spicy Thai fried rice, Thai Spring Rolls, Pad Kee Mao, which have all been very good. My wife tried the Stir Fry in Peanut Sauce with chicken and enjoyed that also. It seems as though the majority of their service is carry out, so not much on the ambiance for eating in. It isn't bad just not dressed up for a really nice experience. Buyer beware!!! I placed on order this afternoon for carryout over the phone. I used the menu on this website (yelp) to place the order, noting the prices shown. The total of my order (per the website) came to $36.00, and with tax I estimated I would be paying right at about $40.00. She did not give me a total over the phone. When I went to pick up my order, I was very surprised when she said your total is $69.70. I explained that this was much higher than the prices shown on your website. She said, "We don't have a website." I tried to explain that prices shown were misleading, and she asked if I had the right Golden Wok. Really?? If Golden Wok was closer to me, we would get takeout from here for often. I stumbled upon this restaurant online while trying to find a Chinese restaurant that could do gluten free - everyone had one place in mind: Golden Wok. My husband and I were out by Costco and decided we wanted Chinese food, so we called in an order and were told an hour - that was a little sad, but we got a snack and waited the hour. I am SO glad we did. The staff was so friendly and everything was super fresh - the food came out steaming hot and even stayed hot until we got home. On our 2nd visit we were smarter and called in way before we were hungry and then made the drive. We got there and there were a few people in line waiting to pick up their food and the person working at the front kept apologizing...no need to. The food is worth the wait! We love this place! It's our favorite Chinese restaurant in our area. The food is always delicious & the owners are so happy for your business. The curries are delicious. General Tso chicken is yummy with plenty of fresh veggies. Try the Tom Kha soup, OMG! Love their crab Rangoon & egg rolls. It's really all so very good! But be sure to call in your order. Absolutely disgusting. The worst Chinese food ever. Not true to the menu at all. The Mongolian chicken was NOT the dish the menu described at all. On the menu, it is described as 'chicken seared with julian cut green peppers, carrots, and onions in a hot and spicy brown sauce.' All I got was chicken in a bath of onions and 2 fragments of battered green onion. And white crispy flakes on top. The sauce was so bland. It had no taste. There was no spice factor at all. The consistency of the sauce was like soy sauce. It flowed separately from the rest of the dish. It was like someone opened up a bottle of soy sauce and poured it in. It was so gross. The chicken was super salty. Each piece was discolored, like it had been pre-marinated for a long time and then just haphazardly mixed in with everything else. The crispy spring rolls had barely anything inside. They were virtually empty crispy shells. The 'Cool Lettuce Wrap' did NOT match the menu description at all !!!!!! The menu says: "Wok-seared chicken and vegetables, south asian style, served with lettuce cups." $6.89 All we got was lettuce and a few noodles and some brown color inside. That's ALL!!!!!!! Beware of your receipt, too. It is NOT an itemized receipt. I understand online menu prices may not be current, but something is off. We paid $17.98 for 2 entrees, $3 for spring rolls, $6.89 for lettuce wraps = 27.87. With tax that would NOT be $33.72. The food was not worth a penny of what we paid. It was the worst takeout ever. Nothing tasted fresh, except the spring rolls and rice. Nothing was true to the menu, except the rice. The entire order was so subpar. There was no redeeming quality at all. A high quality (American) Chinese takeout in west county. A bit pricey but worth it in terms of quality and quantity. We tried the crab Rangoon, chicken pad Thai, lomein and fried rice. The fried rice was well prepared, chicken tasted fresh, a little bit of chili (if you ask for it). The lomein was also very juicy and fresh - good quantity of veggies and chicken.
