The food has gotten much better over the last 6 months. Great fried rice, lo mein, she dumplings, egg rolls and above all the 1/2 Peking Duck with pancakes and rich dark sauce. The only downside is the cost pushing $80 for take out. Large portions- enough for 4 people or two meals for two people. read more

Really great tasting Chinese take out. Some dishes have a bit too much oil for my liking, but I appreciate that they accommodated my special requests, such as no bell peppers and the portions were large. The person taking the orders was nice too! They have an extensive menu too. I look forward to trying more dishes on the menu. So happy to find a local Chinese restaurant that is delicious! The pork fried rice was fresh annd not over burdened with soy sauce. The shrimp with vegetables in a brown sauce was spectacular and the eggroll was good as well. I was a bit surprised though with the wonton soup. Generous portion of shrimp - 10 shrimp and steamed properly from the diet menu's mixed veggies with steamed shrimp. The order taker got it right when I asked for white sauce on the side without cornstarch. The vegetables were cut into large pieces ... perfect for saute as leftovers. The rating of 3 is because I would five the rice a zero. Chinese restaurant with hard, undercooked rice? My take-out meal proves that it's possible. The shumai and dumplings were flavorful, though they were served without any dipping sauce which isn't good. I've tried black bean sauce dishes here in the past and found them to be tasteless. Food is ok, but service is horrible. Tonight I ordered online, showed uo for the pickup time 30 minutes later, and STILL had to wait close to an hour, for just soup and a noodle dish. Place was packed, with people waiting even longer than me, and the owner was still taking orders on the phone when he obviously can't keep up with the the back orders. When I left there were still 3 customers that were there before me still waiting. This has happened before, in addition to some order screw ups. I will never return here. read more

We've ordered from this establishment a few times. Its..... okay. But a couple of things. Bigger Won Tons in the soup. The small ones are not good. The chicken dumplings look exactly like traders joes bagged chicken dumplings. Kind of makes me go hmm? Otherwise , assorted noodle and meat dishes are okay. read more

Placed an order and was told it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. After waiting for over an hour order still not ready. I had guests over for dinner who were waiting to eat. I had them cancel the order. Have been ordering from this take out for almost 15 years. When the new owner took over the quality of the food was not as good, portions smaller and prices were substantially raised. After todays debacle will no longer give them my business. Sorry...wanted to like this, but starting with the egg roll, this was very disappointing. The egg roll "wrap" was tough and the filling was bland. The sauce on our sesame noodles was good but the noodles themselves was just wrong (too thick). The twice cooked pork tasted just like the chicken with vegetables. The hot and sour soup had too much pepper. The entire trip was as a treat for my son who loves Lo Mein noodles but he was disappointed. The spare ribs were good...and we saved the white rice...but will not likely be making a repeat visit. read more

Pretty good!! Ordered for the 1st time here on a Tuesday evening. Delivery was very fast and efficient! I got shrimp and lobster sauce with white rice and my mother got her usual chicken egg foo and pork fried rice! We tore it up lol... it was delicious. it's wayyyy better than the place we usually order from in our hometown in Ossining. Definitely will be ordering from here more often! Good job guys!! I don't know if they're owned by the same people as the Hunan Garden in Croton Falls, but the one in CF is much better. This isn't terrible, but it's not great either. It's very bland. I've tried all kinds of things here. The dumplings are good, the moo shu shrimp is good, the string beans are good. the fried rice is very bland and it doesn't come in a small size. you get a GIANT size. It's also pretty greasy. Other than that, the rest is standard middle of the road Chinese take out. read more

We love this place - their prices are reasonable and their ingredients are fresh. The Imperial Duck, the Shedded Crispy Beef, Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and Szechuan Tofu are our favorite dishes. Is it authentic? Yes, it is authentic American Chinese! No, you are not eating in San Francisco's Chinatown. But you are not in San Francisco so why compare? Great Chinese food for the area! As well as great sushi. Very basic sushi menu. All of their sushi seems very very fresh, and their spicy rolls are very spicy and tasty. The Chinese menu is very good. Their boneless spare ribs are to die for! As well as their Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. I'd definitely recommend them if you'd like fresh and tasty Chinese food. I don't usually have high expectations for Chinese takeout food, but this is very good. The food tastes as good as typical "eat-in" restaurants. The orders are filled promptly and accurately. The worst Chinese food I have ever eaten!!!!!! No flavor the boneless ribs taste like jelly and have 0 sauce! Seamed dumplings have no meat and taste super bland. I thought this place was reliable, and, for several years, it was. Maybe my most recent meal was a fluke, but it was mediocre enough that I won't be eating at Hunan Garden again. Suddenly the General Tso's Bean Curd has a different sauce - weirdly chunky and unappetizing. The vegetables inside the vegetable rolls had been pre-cooked to the point of limpness. Even the brown rice was unacceptable - overdone and mushy. Hunan Garden has fairly reasonable prices, which means it used to be a good value. But when the food isn't worth eating, it doesn't matter how cheap a place is - it's still a waste of money! EDIT: I finally gave into craving, and decided to make a fresh start with Hunan Garden. Everything was FINE, and I'm inclined to think my single bad experience was a fluke. I've revised my star rating accordingly. read more

Ordered moo shu vegetable pancakes because I don't eat meat. There were small pieces of meat in my meal. Not big pieces, you had to look but they were definitely in there. Looked like this order was not freshly prepared and meat was picked out of a previously prepared moo shu pork. My dining companions were not impressed with their selections either. read more

Hunan Garden for the price they charge is reasonably good food. We usually get the chicken with broccoli and the sweet and sour chicken. The egg rolls and hot and sour soup are decent as well. Again, not great but good enough especially with the lack of alternatives around. Usually in Briarcliff, they give you mediocre or worse food and charge an arm and a leg for the honor. read more

Hunan Garden serves up the typical Chinese American fare. Don't expect anything too exotic here. And there really isn't any standout dish that I have tried. However ingredients are definitely very fresh. This is the place where you want to get your Chinese American fix. Food used to be better. It is still good and if you make a request, they do try to accommodate you. We use delivery since no real sitting area which we would welcome. The regular front end person is nice. Their regular delivery person is awesome. For that alone, I will continue to use them. I hope in the future they will continue to improve their Chinese food, explore healthier options. Sushi is OK but not for all. read more
