Placed a rather large order for Pick up and I was pleasantly surprised to see the dining area could accommodate a large group. My go to is Broccoli Beef and let me tell you the flavor was perfect and not overpowering. The fried rice with each entree is a nice touch as well. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Quite tasty Chinese food for the middle of Missouri. I know there's another place down the street, but we chose Hunan based on the curb-appeal. The interior is clean and well-tended - a huge fish tank greets you at the door. The staff is friendly and prompt. Both times I've been here, we ordered the BoBo platter - probably my favorite part of the experience. I did find my main course a bit salty and low on the vegetables. I suggest ordering a meat dish and a veggie dish between two people. Our waitress wasn't able to explain the difference between Szechuan and Home style, which was troubling... no matter, as my Szechuan-style tofu dish... wasn't. We were running late as is our usual while traveling on Sunday. Happened on Hunan Chinese in Cameron. After a tender appetizer of satay beef, a fragrant and beautifully presented dish was delivered. The dish was the neptune platter and was a perfectly cooked blend of scallops, shrimp, crab and sauteed chinese fresh vegetables in a bowl of fried noodles. I do mean literally a bowl fashioned from noodles delicately fried to look like a weaved basket. The seafood blend was delicately coated in a light sauce in just the perfect amount where you do not have to fish out the meal in a bowl of sauce. On the side was a carrot carved lotus flower to bring the beauty of this creation to perfection. This was truely a wonderful meal and reasonably priced. Fantastic find folks and just off I-35. When I first found this restaurant in '06...it was fantastic. They went through a spell of using really horrible chicken pieces, so quit going to it for a while. Tried it again couple of weeks ago, and it was good that day. Went yesterday, ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken...not one bit of seasoning or taste to it. Just a mess of stuff to chew. Shrimp fried rice wasn't bad, but friend's General Tso's chicken was tasteless too. Crab Rangoons are just cream cheese, nothing to flavor it. And egg rolls are tough. Won't be back ever again. Waste of over 30 dollars. And waitress with rotted teeth that were black in her mouth didn't help either. read more

I definitely love their Chinese, it is absolutely delicious. I normally get their Vegetable Lo Mien but their Orange Chicken and Hunan Chicken is delicious as well. I'm not a big meat eater, so I love that they have plenty of options for that. And their soups are good, definitely love the Eggdrop soup. The only thing I have to say is their service can be a bit slow once in a while, but the servers are pleasant and make up for it. read more

Traveling back home decided to try this place based on the reviews, so ok I get the fact that its not going to be a fancy place but the food was just ok...Kung pow chicken had no pow to it at all broccoli with garlic sauce was cold, lo mein was decent but again not very hot the orange chicken was pretty good and served hot. We were the only ones in the place so they had plenty of time to cook and not rush. Would I go again??? Not likely. read more

I understand that Covid has effected many but I have ordered from here many times before March 2019 and the food was great and hot! Now that you have been in lock down since March I have ordered 3 times. Each time hoping it was a fluke. All 3 times the food was cold to luke-warm. It's sad that the food used to be so hot I could drive from 7 miles away and still get home and it still be extremely hot! I miss that food! It tasted better and was worth the price. Loving Chinese but avoiding buffets, when we came to the Lake Viking, MO, area, we found only one fitting our criteria, Hunans. What a surprise. The ambience is non-impressive. One gets the impression the building was built as an automotive show room. A sampling of Chinese decor and the requisite music is nice but understated. The menu is complete. The signature feature is Walnut Shrimp. Our first visit I got the featured Walnut Shrimp. My wife tried a more mundane entrée. We never pass on the crab rangoons with sweet sauce. The service is extremely prompt. Rangoons came almost immediately and were hot and crisp. Some of the best ever. But, when the main course came we were bowled over. The potions are almost overwhelming. Steamed white rice is standard and fried rice can be subbed for $1. But, the portions were understandable when we began eating. It was delicious, or "wonderful." (I normally reserve that word for exceptional lemon pie). We have returned as often as possible and have never been disappointed. My wife has tried various entrées but I have stuck with the Walnut Shrimp. It appears Hunans has many carry-outs and deliveries, but we are always amazed at the scarce patronage, at least at the times we are there. Seating is sufficient for 75 or more but rarely are there more than a few customers when we are there. Selfishly, I'd like to see Hunans be very successful so we can continue enjoying them. Oh, Yes did I mention they serve beer and wine for we who enjoy it. Here's to their success. Please give them a try. read more

It's cheap chinese food, for the most part it has been good but we've had a few misses when getting take out. Example would be the sesame chicken, which if you order later in the day can be pretty overcooked and tough. Noodles can be the same story, they cook them early so at different times the quality is off because they've been sitting in sauce and soaked up too much. Just don't expect too much given the price, and you'll be satisfied. read more

I placed an order a month ago and no more than 2 minutes later I called to cancel the order and they hung up on me. Didn't think anything of it at the time. We just called tonight and they refused to place the order because we didn't pick up an order in the past and left them with the bill. Very rude and hung up on us twice. My family has been eating at Hunans for years. The food is always great and plenty of it. The price is very fair. We order carry out twice a week and have never been mistreated. Always greeted with a smile and a "Hello". The hard working young owners makes it one of the best restaurants to enjoy in Cameron. read more

I read the other reviews on Yelp about Hunan's...don't believe the bad ones. I believe that one is from a previous owner of the business and a competitor and the other, that gave it a one star, is describing the previous owners , not the new owners. The new Hunan Chinese is much better, more friendly, and the the food is presented and seasoned in a much better way. I would have given the old Hunan's a 3 star rating however...not a one star like she did. We ate there all the time and enjoyed it. It is much better now though. As far as delivery. The one review described the packaging and all and they were very precise. When you order for delivery it comes with all the bells and whistles. Even the packages that could spill...soup, main dishes etc., are wrapped in plastic wrap so it can't spill. We all love Chinese food and you can't find better in this area than Hunan's Chinese Restaurant. read more

This was the WORST Chinese food I have ever had in my entire life. To start off we had to stand and stare at the hostess that was supposed to seat us for a couple minutes before she actually got up and did so. I ordered the spicy beef lo mein and it tasted awful I couldn't even get through 3 bites before I sent it away. And after I sent it away, the manager, I'm assuming, came back with my plate to inform me that I would still have to pay for it, which I had full intentions on doing to begin with and I never insinuated that I wouldn't. I had also specifically asked for no fried rice but I still ended up with fried rice on my plate. My mother had ordered the hunan beef and the taste was dreadful. Their rice was bland and undercooked. We received cream cheese wontons instead of crab Rangoon. The waitress was very unprofessional and it took a good 30 minutes for us to receive our food in this empty restaurant.
