This might be the only Chinese Restaurant within 60-miles...but it rocks. You can enjoy the variety of the buffet choices, or you can order off the menu. As a rule, when you travel extensively as I do in business, dining at a buffet has some risks. My experience has been that it is difficult to keep food warm on an open buffet, and more often than not, the food just isn't warm. I cannot afford any food borne illness in my business. So the buffet is "out"...!!! So tonight I ordered off the menu: one pork egg roll, hot, crunchy and tasty. To follow I had the hot & sour soup...be careful, mine arrived so hot it could scald the taste buds right off your tongue. Tonights soup wasn't the absolute best I have ever had, but is was pretty darn good. Then follows the pork egg foo young. Three patty's each about 5 or 6 inches in diameter...hot, tasty...not greasy like at many other restaurants...and the gravy was "perfect". I also ordered the hot tea with lemon. The young lady who took my order, also served my meal...and was keeping my hot tea full. Service was spot on...!!! The restaurant decor is warm and inviting, and very clean. This is the only chinese venue in town. It is family owned...these are your neighbors and friends. Visit and share your support. Try something different...bypass the urge to indulge at the buffet, and order from the menu...imagine if you can, the whole family sitting around the table, face to face communicating and together enjoying a great meal together. I went to get soft serve ice cream. I am glad I tried the cookie dough before I placed it on my ice cream. Tasted exactly like a lady bug smells. The food is ok and they have one wonderful employee, but the prices when you order to go are ridiculous for the portion size of the container. And they follow you around the buffet watching. I cannot understand why anyone would want to be so rude to their potential customer over the phone but she lost our business before we even got to try the food. Wow! First she yells at me because I gave her the item number and description: " DONT GIVE ME ITEM NUMBER! WE DONT KNOW ITEM NUMBERS! JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT! wow okay....so I start telling her what we want and then she starts talking to a different customer. So I wait, and then she yells at me again! "ARE YOU THERE?" So I start over because I'm not sure what she heard, and then I asked for the price she says 42.50 I questioned that, based on their on-line menu plus 7.5 % I come up with 36.25. Going with the recommendation to order from the menu (instead of the typical buffet), I ordered the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce combination dinner after previewing the buffet (which looked like the prepared food at a Chinese fast food restaurant). The egg roll was good, but their Chinese hot mustard is the packaged variety that has a lot of vinegar and lacks the authentic punch of real Chinese mustard. The shrimp dish came with pork fried rice, which was bland and chewy (both the rice and the pork, which I assume were both leftovers from the buffet). The shrimp part was cooked well, but very salty. I am tempted to give two stars, but I hear that this is the only Chinese restaurant in the area so I threw in a third star for their effort. I just cant figure this place. At times its pretty good, others its awful. Best bet during peak hours for sure. I have had every type of meat there, some not sure of the origin even. I have had bad beef? Rubbery chicken, grisly pork and beef and combinations of all three. The grave like sauces usually are very flavorful but very stingy with amounts. Rice like glue at times. Really Asians that cant cook rice properly? Staff? The probably 35 year old female is the only one that ever smiles and is pleasant, the rest looks could kill they would be in jail.
