About a year or so ago they sold it to another family or brought in different people and the food went directly down hill. The quality and taste of the food was nothing like it had been. Wife and I came in from California for a wedding. Stayed at the Best Western around the corner from this place. We ordered Beef Fried rice and the Orange chicken. Orange chicken was pretty good. Beef fried rice was okay, it tasted a little bland. I couldve made it taste better by adding some tabasco or something, but I expected it to have alittle more taste than it did. But overall, we do recommend the place. Wait for the food was short, and the place is small and intimate. read more

Firstly, I am a little surprised for the reviews I have seen on Yelp because this place is amazing! We stopped by for dinner on our way up north. It's a small dine-in/carryout typical Chinese restaurant. The prices are dirt cheap and they serve you incredibly large portion sizes. We got hot and sour soup without chicken, ma po tofu and sesame chicken combo, all costing less than $20. You can customize your order to meet your dietary preferences. The food was lip snacking and we just gobbled it up, almost burning our mouth in the process. Glad we took small portion sizes because there was no way we could have finished the regular menu. They keep the place closed on Monday citing time to spend with their family which was admirable! We would love to stop by again on our way back home! read more

I ordered Kung Po chicken and garlic chicken. Kung Po had no flavor or spice at all. It was all vegetables, the little meat that was there was anemic looking and chewy. The garlic chicken also had no spice at all and had no garlic flavor. Had high hopes for a restaurant so close to me but was a utter failure. Good food and friendly staff. Ordered take out tonight. Food was ready in 20 minutes as I was told it would be. I ordered the house special soup. Very good broth with pork, chicken and shrimp along with veggies and mushrooms. This soup was very tasty and hit the spot. Could have just ordered that and called it a night. However I did order the dragon & phoenix which is general tso's chicken and spicy shrimp. This was pretty good the sauce is a little thick and sticky for my taste but was a great flavor. Just got takeout from here last week and was happy with what we received. The entrees were all good portions for the price and tasted good. The only thing lacking was the Crab Rangoons, they were delicious with a crispy outside and clearly homemade filling, however, there was barely any filling in them. This was our first visit to Hunan Wok. It had its highs and lows. Service was extremely quick (less than 8 minutes between ordering and getting our food). My wife ordered the beef and broccoli combo. There was an extremely strong fishy smell to the dish. I suspect it was not bad meat, rather there may have been a large amount of fish sauce used in the dish. Either way, we couldn't get past the smell and could not eat this dish. The rest of our food, however, was quite good. I had the general tsos combo. It was tasty and some pieces even survived the ride home still crispy. The pork fried rice was flavorful and the egg rolls weren't overly greasy. The fried wontons were delicious but were soaked in grease. I've found this to be a common problem at Chinese take outs. It's probably the result of frying oil that was not hot enough. Overall, we'd eat here again but avoid the beef and broccoli next time. read more

I will give this place an applause because the dining area and kitchen appeared clean! The cashier who rung me up seemed friendly and spoke clear English. The granite counter looks nice as well. I was surprised it wasn't busy in there at all. Moving onto the food, the fried crab wontons were ok, Johnny's sushi has better wontons. The chicken and broccoli was bland and lacked sauce . The chicken was a wierd texture... it was tender pieces,but like a mix between mushy and chewy? I'm guessing it was probably cat lol. The broccoli was cooked perfect and looked fresh. My husband got General Tso chicken and I think it also needed more sauce. I liked that it was small pieces of chicken, I'll give them that. If it is even chicken ;) Oh yeah the rice! It was OK, basic takeout fried rice. I think I've been spoiled with Lee's Hunan (in Aberdeen) , Johnny's Sushi, and Lin's Hibachi . But my sister likes this place and she would probably rate it 5 stars. I would recommend go here if it's the closest Chinese place to you, or drive further and get fancy Chinese :) I don't go to Lee's Wok in Rising Sun because it's dirty and I had a gross experience there. read more
