Didn't have time to fully explore this place while in town but I managed to grab a to-go order for my drive back home and I can't wait to go back now! Mac & cheese appetizer was delicious! It had a slight smoky flavor, but it is not overpowering at all, it just compliments the flavors perfect. And the roasted red pepper cream of crab soup was to die for! Generous lump crab meat and busting with flavor. Definitely a must try and I must go back to try more.

I found this awesome restaurant on Yelp and it did not disappoint... Great service... really good food! We had the steak and eggs 10/10 and the crab Benedict 10/10... I got the crepes to go 6/10 (not my favorite) but also a side of collard greens 10/10. I will def be back!

The interior is nice clean and new. It almost has more of a classy bar feel. As far as being "comfort food" it is not. It is very good food it just isn't comfort food. I would call it upscale bar food as well. The crab cakes I had were AMAZING! The flavor, texture, and presentation were spot on and the sauce was even better! I am a Maryland native and this is exactly what I want in a crab cake. The service was good and the prices were fair. I would go again if I was in town.

Nice little place, with lots of friendly staff. We started with roasted red pepper cream of crab and it was spectacular! We followed that up with crab cakes and jambalaya. The jambalaya was packed full of protein, lots of sausage, chicken and shrimp. The dishes were very good and had a great spice level. Definitely comfort food. The service was also very good. The ambience could be improved, the room was very open and there were a lot of TVs on the walls. There was plenty of parking and they had a nice beverage selection. I would definitely come in again.

We phoned in our orders for pickup. We spoke with Kim ( outstanding) who was very polite even when we changed our order. Our order was ready when we arrived at the restaurant. We actually had a special treat the co-owners came out and greeted us. The smell of the food on the ride home gave us a can't wait to eat attitude. We were not disappointed, we will definitely return

Visiting this area, Forge stood out with most consistent high reviews so I recommended a lunch outing for our small party. Darrell was our server (? He could also be the owner / chef) and we ordered based on his recommendations. He was engaging in explaining some of the items on the menu and there was no pressure in any way. My husband ordered shrimp & grits, which he's had plenty when he was in the south, and he was impressed. I had the chicken and waffles and it was crunch and flavorful, quite satisfying. Dining here was the highlight of our day!!

Well, the address given and the location doesn't necessarily match GPS... if coming from Delaware using the 472 Mauldin Ave, keep going over the bridge, and stay to the right. Now that you've arrived, wait to be seated and be delighted. It's oxtails special tonight. Yassss!!! My bff ordered the salmon and raved about it. Great portions and attentive waitstaff. Colby did not disappoint. Darrell the manager also welcomed us. We had appetizer scallops with lentils. Miss me with those lentils which were undercooked but the scallops were 5 ! Looking forward to returning with hubby. Highly recommended-1 lentils and I ordered takeout for hubby. The portion looks a little small. I'll let you see a . Definitely 4.5 overall. Loved the atmosphere for conversation. Great meeting and date spot.

The forge has a very fresh and light atmosphere, the staff was super welcoming. I found the service a little lacking, drinks were never refilled without chasing someone down and asking for more water, tea, etc. My chicken and waffle was very enjoyable. It had a little heat which I found pleasant. The waffle was different in a good way. It was either made with a different kind of flour (wheat or something) or had some kind of savory flavor added to it, I couldn't quite pin it down, but it balanced the sweet syrup nicely. My date's French toast was weird. It was half a loaf of banana bread (waaay too much), I guess with the outside "French toasted." I didn't really get any of the vanilla/egg/cinnamon from this prep. I think it would be more Enjoyable If they skipped the crème filling and simply sliced the banana bread and toasted it. Interesting concept, very creative, but imo execution isn't quite there. Hopefully next time the service is better. The team was super friendly, it was just annoying I never had a full drink or had to ask for refills or butter or whatever/e.

After the friendly greeting and being seated, you can imagine our surprise when this hot sweet delicacy came out to be devoured. There's actually a lot of room in this place and very well set up. We ordered a couple of their specialties barbecue pulled pork sandwich platter comes with two sides fried chicken sandwich fried cauliflower as an appetizer. Catfish and Whiting combo. We got string beans, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, baked beans and potato salad so we're gonna try a little bit of everything. Check out the full video on my YouTube channel. @verseinator hopefully we can do a more in-depth video later on this is what's happening. First thing that came out with a cauliflower bites we both agreed we would've preferred if they were a little bigger but flavor wise so addicting we couldn't stop eating them. It was like a little popcorn cauliflower bites eight out of 10 definite smash. The catfish and Whiting was fried to perfection, soft delicate white meat, not overcooked every single side transported me back to be a teen teenager grown-up around the Sunday dinner table. The last thing we actually smashed was the sandwiches the fried chicken sandwich which is known for with flavorful very tender. You can tell she pounded out her own cutlet and hand breaded fried to perfection. The pulled pork sandwich was like sweet meat candy each bite of the pork butt was soft and tender, and that sweet sauce just complimented the brioche bun all the sides. I can't talk about enough and I'm waiting for her to come back around so I can get a refill on my watermelon Kool-Aid get down here if you're looking for some good soul food and some barbecue this is your spot.

It's been open since 1994, and it's easy to see why. Ethel's is really homey and cozy and comfortable. It feels like you've taken a little day trip to New Orleans. We each ordered a couple of drinks (something tropical with rum for me, a martini for my friend, and sangria for my other friend). We shared a few items from their menu: Creole Shrimp Boat (sauteed shrimp, mussels, jumbo lump crab meat, and the fish of the day simmered in a fire roasted red bell pepper sauce, with Creole rice and the vegetable of the day); Hot Cat Stack (fried catfish stacked with sweet and savory Andouille sausage cornbread, spicy crawfish red pepper meunière, honey chive compound butter, hot honey, and the vegetable of the day); a half rack of ribs (slow roasted ribs, Louisiana dry rub seasoning, mopped in BBQ sauce, mashed potato, and the vegetable of the day); and a strawberry bread pudding. Everything was delicious. I liked every course we had, but the Hot Cat Stack was wow. I've had a lot of bad to blah bread puddings in my life, but Ethel's wasn't bad or blah. It was delicious - and not dry at all. At all. The service was friendly but not the fastest (we waited a while for dessert) and maybe just a little scattered! But we eventually got everything we ordered, and the meal overall was wonderful: delicious, fun, casual. I'd love to return!
