Not sure his name, but he kept raising his voice, almost threatening. [10:15ish] I came on time for the appointment but the door was locked. I knocked multiple times. [10:21] I was let in the waiting area, checked in. [10:45] this guy, working under the doctor, tells me I came in at 11:26. Late. And I'm looking at my watch thinking, man is this guy in the future? So I corrected him, his voice raises. So I ask again, what time did I come in? [to be continued]. It's been a pleasant experience from the first day I picked up the phone to call and ask questions from CINDY. Everyone was really kind and caring which made me feel really comfortable . Dr. Scott Segal is a professional at what he does and he was very kind, informative, and caring. I did thorough research into who I should pick to go with for my lasik surgery and I'm glad to have picked him. I'm currently recovering from the procedure and it seems to be going great. Dr. Scott also gave me his personal number in case I have any questions or concerns. All information regarding financing, prescriptions, and scheduling were easy to follow. I had my post op checkup this morning and I already have 20/25 vision :).

Originally, we were going for another Memorial Eye Center location and we both individually have new insurance carriers and was trying to find a place that would fit both our schedule to go together and also would be covered under our insurances. THE STAFF: Amazing, front desk personnel for all the people we encountered. Everyone answered all our questions regarding our insurance coverages and even more questions we had concerning what wasn't covered. We both had different people doing our initial exam and both the male and female (Asian- for me, I didn't get her name) were so sweet and kind. We tend to ask a lot of questions and every staff member didn't give us the "I don't care quick answer" like many other places do. They didn't treat us like a number either. Kudos to the front office staff!! That definitely set the tone for our visit. DR. HOLBROOK: OMG! I'm going to be honest. We didn't choose Dr. Holbrook originally. She just happened to be the Dr. available on the day/time that we needed to go together and it fit our schedule. THANK GOD! What a true blessing in disguise. Dr. Holbrook was the cream, icing and frosting on top! She made our entire experience a pleasant one! I have been changing eye Doctors for the last few years since my insurance didn't cover my original doctor of many years and never quite found one I was happy with....until NOW! I find with the multitude of new doctors out there, their bedside manner seems to be lacking. Dr. Holbrook doesn't fall in that group! She was extremely thorough, patient, honest and downright sweet!! What more could we ask for? She was so patient with so many questions we both had regarding our individual eye health. We both have slight anxiety over our general eye health and not only was Dr. Holbrook patient and thorough at explaining everything but she was very reassuring and comforting which eased our nerves. Even though we were the last appointments for the day, she never rushed us or tried to end the appointment . We truly appreciated that. The other thing is that I had other doctors in the past worry me over glaucoma issues etc. and she put those nerves at ease. I've never met Dr. Holbrook or the staff before our appointment or gone to any Memorial Eye Center locations before today, but I can certainly say that we will be going to Dr. Holbrook and this center here on out! She's amazing! If you're lucky enough to get her then DO!!! If not, this place, and staff is GREAT and they have state of the art equipment. I filled out all of my personal and insurance information prior to my appointment so that it would expedite my checkin process. Upon signing in, they only needed my ID and insurance card for verification. After about 10 minutes, they quickly took me into the back. My experience with all of the staff and Dr Harris was nothing but pleasant and professional. I had my eyes dilated and had to wait for the results, but it did not feel that long. As soon as Dr Harris reviewed my results, she quickly provided her opinion on how to handle my situation promptly and referred me to another specialist and booked me in just a couple days later! I definitely will be using them every year for my returning visits!

He patiently addresses all of your concerns and is actually physically there for them rather than shafting you over to a PA. Whenever I want to try something new, he always has samples at hand for me to try rather than just writing a prescription for some eye drops. You never feel rushed in the office. (My last appointment with him lasted for an hour.) He's incredibly friendly and welcoming. Flawless English for those worried about going to an opthamologist in Chinatown. Amazing service! It's time that physicians realize that we are the customer and we should be treated as such!

A few days later, found out my cousin was having a day party nearby but around the same time. Decided to reschedule the appointment for an earlier time but there were no more Saturday appointments available. I called the office to make sure this was the case, which it was, so informed the host that we would be running late. First off, there is no signage off Westheimer to let you know this location is here. I ride across the entire shopping center to get to it. The parking is tight and very sparse. Don't let anyone double park and take up precious space. The inside is very tiny. Not much of a waiting room at all, so if you're taking someone here and waiting for them, you might as well go somewhere else because its limited. I however, was working remotely, so I didn't have time to travel somewhere else to setup my station but in hindsight, I think I should have because there was no WiFi available so setting up my hotspot to work and making space on the available table to work was probably the same amount of time to go somewhere else. Although they finished examinng my Mom in record time, I really think they were rushing to leave because how you going to dilate someone and forget to give them the glasses??? I think my Mom was taken by surprise from them telling her she hadn't met her deductible and would be paying more to go through her insurance but still I think they rushed us out the door. The keys were even in the door as we left but maybe that was because I still was working about 10 minutes after they closed out her payment. I had work to do, so go disinfect rooms before you close, but while I was working, I noticed the nauseting smell of disinfectant fumigating a room. If that's the only disinfecting you're doing, we're in trouble. This Dr. my Mom went to was mine as well, but Ive been feeling like she may be leaving soon or the company is changing that is reducing her hours, so I'll be looking for a new Optician this summer. Memorial Eye is expensive and just not what they use to be, which was friendly and cost effecient a decade ago when I found them. I can pay less and go down the street near my home and probably get the same service.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. In the past, wait times were minimal. This time, I waited over 30 minutes in an extremely cold exam room. The temperature was unbearable, it felt like a refrigerator. I had a sweater on and was still uncomfortable. Later, the doctor mentioned that the AC was broken and moved us to a different room with a space heater. If the AC issue was known, patients should not have been left sitting in those conditions for that long. The doctor I saw was new to me, and the interaction was disappointing. During the vision test, when asked which image was clearer, I explained that both appeared blurry and I couldn't see the letter well enough to determine which was better. Instead of working with that feedback, she repeatedly insisted I choose one based on brightness. Since neither looked clearer, I eventually gave a random answer just to move forward. It did not feel like my input was being heard or taken seriously. That was how the whole exam went. When I asked questions, they were brushed aside. The overall tone felt dismissive and condescending, which made me uncomfortable. As a result, I did not feel confident filling my prescription there. I have valued this location for years, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Based on this visit, I will not be returning.
