Just be careful, I thought something was strange when they showed me the total price on a scrap piece of paper, without the warranty listed. I noticed on the receipt after paying that they included a $45 warranty without telling me. They just said there was a warranty, I did not realize I was paying extra for it. Although this place is really far from where I live, I wouldn't mind coming back here for a second appointment. One of the first reasons why I came here was for their selection of frames. My insurance fenced off a lot of places that carried nice frames like Pearle Vision and Lense Crafters. Eye Trends was one that was accepted and they carried brand names ranging from Ray-ban, A&X, Burberry, Gucci, Oakleys, etc. Even better is if they don't carry the frame you want then you can request them to order it in for you so your insurance can pay for them. No more Walmart type frames for you. The only drawback is that there will be no refund if you opt for that choice. The doctor I had obtained her degree from University of Houston which has a great Optometry program. She was friendly and explained to me all the questions I had. read more

WOW and WOW! Let me just begin by saying that my daughter (an adult) and I found this place on a fluke but Thank God we did! Originally, we were going for another Memorial Eye Center location and we both individually have new insurance carriers and was trying to find a place that would fit both our schedule to go together and also would be covered under our insurances. THE STAFF: Amazing, front desk personnel for all the people we encountered. Everyone answered all our questions regarding our insurance coverages and even more questions we had concerning what wasn't covered. We both had different people doing our initial exam and both the male and female (Asian- for me, I didn't get her name) were so sweet and kind. We tend to ask a lot of questions and every staff member didn't give us the "I don't care quick answer" like many other places do. They didn't treat us like a number either. Kudos to the front office staff!! That definitely set the tone for our visit. DR. HOLBROOK: OMG! I'm going to be honest. We didn't choose Dr. Holbrook originally. She just happened to be the Dr. available on the day/time that we needed to go together and it fit our schedule. THANK GOD! What a true blessing in disguise. Dr. Holbrook was the cream, icing and frosting on top! She made our entire experience a pleasant one! I have been changing eye Doctors for the last few years since my insurance didn't cover my original doctor of many years and never quite found one I was happy with....until NOW! I find with the multitude of new doctors out there, their bedside manner seems to be lacking. Dr. Holbrook doesn't fall in that group! She was extremely thorough, patient, honest and downright sweet!! What more could we ask for? She was so patient with so many questions we both had regarding our individual eye health. We both have slight anxiety over our general eye health and not only was Dr. Holbrook patient and thorough at explaining everything but she was very reassuring and comforting which eased our nerves. Even though we were the last appointments for the day, she never rushed us or tried to end the appointment . We truly appreciated that. The other thing is that I had other doctors in the past worry me over glaucoma issues etc. and she put those nerves at ease. I've never met Dr. Holbrook or the staff before our appointment or gone to any Memorial Eye Center locations before today, but I can certainly say that we will be going to Dr. Holbrook and this center here on out! She's amazing! If you're lucky enough to get her then DO!!! If not, this place, and staff is GREAT and they have state of the art equipment. This place is the Joke.... I' WAS a patient for over 3 years, (because of convenience). A very first exam was too strong and started giving me head aches..... I had to get another exam to correct it...(Of course I was charged ' for her over prescribing) got a milder RX and picked up my glasses... Second exam I was told I need a glaucoma test-- LIES' I had just had one frm a ophthalmologist because I didn't believe her !! He said I had NO signs of any glaucoma ... a month later my frames ( Versace) had a manufactured issue... I drop them off and they agreed to fix them.. I received a call saying the glasses were ready for pick up( scooped them up)... a week later I received a call stating the replacement part had just arrived!!!... keeping my composure I allowed them to fix the issue yet again ..BUT this last visit has convinced me this office needs to be reported to the state of Texas' I went in for a eye infection & was prescribed meds that didn't work and when I called 2 days later - to see what else can be used ' I was told to pay for a new visit' ...But' the original visit was unresolved my eye still has an infection .... the dumbest thing I've every heard of -Most Ethical doctors would consider that a Follow Up - -here she is prescribing the wrong meds and have the audacity to charge you to see where she went wrong ?! --shows they only care about money!!! I'd rather pay a person that actually cares about the patient ' not just charging insurance company's and patients co pays . To NOT fix problems .. &and waste time and money Dr.H (the lady)... doesn't care about her patients...be careful when dealing with her money hungry a$$. Good luck you'll need it ! Having grown tired of fogging up my bifocals, I decided to go back into contacts. She put me in an extremely comfortable pair of mono-vision contacts that I absolutely love. They had a great selection of frames to choose from for my backup pair, and worked hard to maximize my VSP benefits. They price matched my year supply of contacts with 1800-contacts, which was a nice surprise. All in all, I highly recommend Memorial Eye Center-Westchase!! read more

Set an appointment online which was immediately confirmed. I arrive 30 minutes early in order to fill out new patient paperwork only to be told that my children will have to wait in the car!? My daughter was a in a strollers! She 10 months! How dare you even suggest a thing. I know it was because I'm a black man with dreads and tattoos for a fact. I have fallen in love with Dr. Hemani and her staff at Eye Trends! You cannot find a better eye center in the area. Eye Center: very clean and smells GREAT! They have everything from very affordable eye wear for children & families to higher prices designer frames and sunglasses. A member of the staff works with you to help pick the frames that best suite your style and will help to keep you well within your budget. They do an AMAZING job at letting you know exactly what your insurance covers and what your price will be - no unexpected billing issues. Staff: always very personable, timely with phone calls and are willing to be of assistance. They are always willing to tighten up my glasses at an appointment or if I drop in. The technicians are extremely knowledgeable and work well with small children. Dr. Hemani: simply amazing! I have always had vision issues (been in glasses since 5) and have progressive deterioration along with many precursors for glaucoma. While I have seen more than my share of optometrists, it is a rarity that I found Dr. Hemani - am ophthalmologist that can care for the most basic vision issues to advanced eye diseases. I personally had been visiting the Texas Eye Institute, but have found an eye doctor who not only cares, but listens AND spends time explaining all conditions, tests and results. She spends as much time with me as possible, will not order unnecessary tests and details next steps to keep my eyes as healthy as possible. Great staff who were just opening after the COVID shutdown. They're doing a great job of social distancing, cleaning the exam rooms and equipment and wearing PPE. I felt very safe! I was so glad to get new contacts which fit well and are a perfect prescription. Wearing a mask fogs up my glasses, so having good contacts was key. They're shipping my contacts to my house and even had rebates for them. read more

I feel thoroughly deceived by the positive rating for Dr. Hemani and given my experience, I feel compelled to share. Where do I begin? 1) Don't chose this optometrist for her alleged Saturday hours. Dr. Hemani has Saturday hours only for new patients; you'll never see this lady again on a Saturday, especially if she screws up your prescription and you need a second eye test to get your prescription corrected. 2) Speaking of incorrect prescriptions... I am pretty near sighted and have been wearing glasses for close to 30 years now. I came in with a prescription of -7.50 in one eye and -7.75 in the other. Dr. Hemani writes me a prescription for -7.25 in both eyes, so not only has my vision magically improved, but my asymmetric myopia has also improved! Amen! Won't he do it!!! NOT! 3) The optician, Ingrid or Olga, honestly can't remember her name, followed me around the entire time I was looking for frames. She broke the pair I was thinking about purchasing while adjusting them so I didn't even get to really try them on and I felt under duress, obligated even, to follow through with the purchase. The frames are too big for my face and are constantly sliding down my nose and hanging on to my ears for dear life, by the way. 4) The blur from my under prescribed lenses was just too much, so I scheduled an appointment to be retested and receive my correct prescription. Well, my Saturday appointments were canceled (point #1), so I had to take off time from my job midweek to correct an issue that if Dr. Hemani were a competent practitioner, wouldn't even exist in the first place. 5) For my second appointment, the optician who took my measurements with the keratometer wasn't going to wipe the machine down with an alcohol pad until I told her to do so. Likewise, Dr. Hemani didn't wipe down the phoropter prior to giving me my eye exam and insisted that the machine be unreasonably close to my eyes. Foolishly, I didn't ask her to wipe down the machine with an alcohol pad. Well, a few weeks later, I developed a fungal infection on my forehead and under my left eye. Now, my first visit I didn't have to say anything; every piece of machinery was disinfected prior to my usage, but this time, not once, but twice two "professionals" didn't follow standard disinfecting protocol???? I'll let you arrive at your own conclusion. In summation, if you have time to waste, are interested in big, overpriced glasses that you can barely see out of, and want to do business with a practitioner with an unclean practice at the least or a vindictive spirit at the worst, then this is the optometrist for you; otherwise, look elsewhere. read more

Also, she had the nerve to talk to my daughter as if she was her own while in the exam room. They lost a part from my glasses doing a lens replacement recently and did not even say they were sorry or try to make it right. However, they were sure happy with the profit they made on the lens replacement. Years ago I tried Dr. Hemani and felt she was always trying to up-sell and charge for all types of extras doing an eye exam. They are extremely over priced and I am not happy with the service. Arrived on time; Dr Hamida Hermani made us wait 30 minutes to see her. Made my son feel bad about wearing glasses with her comment that "most kids his age don't need to wear glasses." When I started to ask him how many other kids in his class wear glasses to help him realize he's not the only one, she interrupted with "I've been doing this a long time, I know what I'm talking about." She rushed through the refraction test in about 90 seconds. This is typically the last test during an exam, where they fine tune a prescription by asking you to look at an eye chart and then flip lenses, asking which one looks better. I asked if she could slow down a little bit to give my son time to think and provide proper feedback, and she responded with "we don't really even need to do this test, I have all the information I need from the previous test (autorefractor)." Even if she's having a terrible day, I expect a minimum amount of professionalism, and she just didn't have it. This location also refused to include the "pupilary distance" information on the eyeglass prescription - an obvious attempt to force us to buy overpriced frames directly from them instead of buying online. Normally, we'd visit another eye doctor for his regular checkups, but insurance only covers one visit a year and he mentioned his vision had gotten worse, so I went looking for a local doctor with reasonable exam rates, since I'd be paying out of pocket. This location offered a Groupon for the eye exam. It seems like my use of a Groupon -- something they chose to offer and market -- was insulting to her. She wanted to get through the exam as quickly as possible, couldn't care less about the accuracy of his prescription, and chose not to use basic manners or civility. Message received - if you're not spending enough money here, they just don't care about you. I would absolutely avoid this location. read more

First of all, Dr Tavares was good and easy to work with. Problem was all the hidden and deceptive charges. They really nickel and dime every penny out of you, incorrectly charge insurance, and don't tell you about up-charges until after the appointment. There are better choices. Extremely courteous and honest about my options with getting contact lenses and also gave me a truthful opinion on lassie. Really impressed with how friendly she was. They are all very nice and friendly. Dr. Hemani was friendly. They have a variety of frame selections which I really appreciate. The techs were very nice and thorough and Dr. Hoang was very nice and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. After my eye exam they were very patient with me, helping me try on and pick my new frames. Very very disappointed I went here because it is very close to my job and then I also had a review from a co-worker. I had an appointment on a Tuesday, the staff was ok the appointment did go faster then expected I received contacts at the end of the visit some that she recommended and I went home the contacts were really really irritating I took them out and woke up to a completely swollen right eye I called them to go in there before work and they have no doctor available! Then they tried to schedule me for a day later which did not help we tried to call another location off Town and Country and they didn't have a doctor either, so why are they even open on a Wednesday is what I'm wondering. Now if I want to go to a doctor I will get charged a copay which is not fair. The staff was very useless they did not give me any suggestions or solution to at the least clean my eye. So now I can barely see there is a grey spot in my eye and there is nothing they can do until the next day. I am very disappointed and wouldn't recommend going there in general. And you definitely can't go on a Wednesday no one will be there to help you. read more
